LAKKHAN RAI, son of Bik Chand, a Changra Rajput of Una, now a district town of Himachal Pradesh, embraced Sikhism during the time of Guru Tegh Bahadur (1621-75), and was later counted, along with his brother Bhoj Raj, among the poets and scholars patronized by Guru Gobind Singh. The only work of Lakkhan Rai that has come down to us is a translation in Hindi verse of the Sanskrit classic, Hitopadesa, completed in 1737 Bk/AD 1680. This is the earliest extant work by any of Guru Gobind Singh`s poets and scholars.

Looks very interesting piece of literature. Shud be brought to print.

I was talking about the brij bhasha work of lakhan rai. It shud be brougjt in print. It shud be studied just as taksali students study saruktavali, vairag shatak, parbodh Chander natak etc. May be a steek shud be prepared for general sikh audience.

Short stories with morals are a simple way and entertaining way of studying wisdom.( not necessarily agreeing to all the wisdom.)

Note how it also seems to be the earliest work dasmesh pita commissioned too.

Bhasha Vibhaag Library in Patiala should know. Look at the footnote in the first page of the Darbari Rattan extract I posted bhai ji.  It even gives a manuscript number.
