The National Minorities Reservation Morcha has demanded the inclusion of a Muslim face in the newly formed Punjab Cabinet. Its president Parvez Siddiqui, in a press release, said Muslims had always got representation in the Cabinet, but this was for the first time that no Muslim was included in the 10-member Cabinet.

Meanwhile in Mandi Ahmedgarh, AAP’s Muslim leadership has urged the party to nominate a Muslim leader to the Rajya Sabha, the elections for which will be held on March 31.

Since the constitution of the Rajya Sabha, none of the ruling parties in the state has given representation to Muslims from erstwhile Malerkotla state, which is now a district. —

How can a 2% population, especially one that leeches off Punjab deserve a ministership. I think when Bhagwant Mann expands his cabinet the id.iot will probably take on the only Muslim to win a seat our of 117 seats as a minister. AAP is well known for appeasement of these types.

New Delhi: An image showing newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann taking charge of his office in the Chief Minister’s Office in Chandigarh Wednesday has gone viral on social media while accusing him of removing the portrait of Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh from the room.

Several Bharatiya Janata Party leaders hit out at Mann for allegedly replacing Ranjit Singh’s portrait with pictures of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and social reformer B. R. Ambedkar....

Fact check

The image that went viral on social media showing Mann with the portraits of Bhagat Singh and B.R. Ambedkar is from a different room in the CMO office.

Mann did not remove any portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In fact, ANI shared another post of Mann from his “maiden meeting” where the Sikh leader’s portrait can be clearly seen in the background.

Several Twitter users came in support of the Punjab CM and demanded Preeti Gandhi delete her post.

Twitter user Rahul Tahiliani asked the Punjab government to initiate legal action against Gandhi for “spreading fake news” and “damaging the social fabric” of the state.

It is difficult to see what the picture behind him is of due to the light reflecting off it, it looks like some kind of landscape. There is a clearer yet still incomplete picture of the image below.

 

The interesting aspect of this whole issue is the AAP supporters are no different from the Andhbhagats because until there was proof presented that the pictures were of different parts of the room, the AAP supporters were responding with <banned word filter activated>,ic statements like " so what, what did Badals or Captain do even if they had the picture of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in their offices"!

It's bad to blindly support any party when we're aware none will work towards our interests.

I think the mass ouster of the traditional parties especially the Badals and Congress was much needed. I feel that some element within in AAP will revolt especially when the SYL issue comes up and Kejriwal because of his political ambitions in Haryana and as CM of Delhi will naturally conflict with those of Punjab. I hoped that in 2017 especially after many of the well know faces in AAP revolted or were forced out of AAP that AAP in Punjab would cut off any political ties with AAP in Delhi and Kejriwal and go on to become a truly regional party that Punjab needs.

 

We should hope that SAD(A) gains even more credibility in the next few months and the youth continue to gravitate towards it. Let's see what the future holds.

It would be great for this to happen but that party has gone stagnant under SimranJit Singh Maan. He has been there for 30 years but there is no sign of any younger, charismatic Sikh replacement.

The next Prime Minister of India will be a Sikh. If a Sikh does not become the Prime Minister, then a Maratha will definitely become the Prime Minister of the country, said Amarjit Singh Dulat, the former head of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
 

He made the statement while receiving the Sant Namdev National Award. The Sant Namdev Award Ceremony by Sarhad Institute, Pune was held at the Constitution Club, Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Dulat predicted that the next Prime Minister of the country would be a Maratha.

Dubai-based NGO offers AAP govt to facilitate FDI into Punjab

AMRITSAR: A Dubai-based industrialist has offered the Punjab govt for facilitating foreign direct investment (FDI) into the state especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set up industries and create job opportunities for the Punjabi youth who spend lakhs of rupees and often fall prey to the dubious agents for getting their dream jobs.

Joginder Singh Salaria, founder of Dubai-based PCT Humanity (Pehal Charitable Trust-Humanity) informed that he felt pity on seeing the struggle of parents of Punjabi youth who did everything in their hands including selling their houses, liquidating their fixed deposits, and even borrowing money on huge interests, only to send their children to UAE for their dream jobs.

Claiming that PCT-Humanity helps on an average a thousand Punjabi youth in getting jobs in UAE every year, Joginder said “The first priority of the Punjabi youth is to move to Canada, Australia, US, UK or in the European nations for which their parents shell out anything around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh and those who can’t afford they prefer to spend anything around Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh for a job in UAE” .

He said there were several examples of Punjabi educated youth doing manual jobs after failing to get jobs in European destinations. “Many of such youth are here working as masons, plumbers, fitters, etc.” he added.
