I'm not sure Sikhi is really for the "Meh... what's in it for me?" mindset of people. Like...umm... what are your thoughts on Shaheed? Lol. 

Why would anyone want to die for Kesh? Or get burned alive or bricked alive? Or sawn in half etc? Because Dharam doesn't change, fools just perish and time marches forward. 

Are there immense immediate and invested treasures in Sikhi? Absolutely, the most. Is success in maya sometimes part of it? Sure. Always? Nope. In fact you might die for it Greeb. That's the point. No matter the consequence, to stay affixed to the Charan of Satguru Nanak Dev Ji. 

In the form, Guru Gobind Singh Maharaja, they reserved the worst conditions, the worst events for their family and their most loyal Singhs and Singhni.

Yes what you mention is important. At least Sikhs should respect Sikhs. But a Sikh quickly has a downfall if he/she forgets to keep focus on guru and sikhi. Other people will always try to belittle those who try to be better or try to be good. Even the Gurus own brothers tried to hurt them. Also you can tell.the moneh, I keep my hair cuz the Guru says to. Not to be a good or better human. And my hair shows I put sikhi first esp before fashion unlike you guys.

You are absolutely right. The enlightened way to look at things is as you say. We must put Gurmat over manmat.

All I am saying is that the average person (especially a young person) who has difficulty completely letting go of certain basic desires will look at the situation and opt for what is (by far) the easier path. What is worse is that they will then attempt to distort what Sikhi is in order to make it fit their own manmat lifestyle.

I'm finding the opposite to be true. Blokes (and women) in their 20s,30, 40s deciding to keep their kesh. More and more folks are feeling empty from the whole 'career' thing and selling out to make it. Once, they are true to themselves the work colleagues etc, actually rate them higher, because they have the 'balls' to be true to themselves. 

Its a proven fact that 'promotions' etc, don't go to the most capable person. Its down to things like 'confidence', what bigger show of confidence in yourself is there than to keep your kesh when everyone is doing the easy thing by 'fitting in'?

@californiasardar1 I was going to make a comment on you "What is the incentive for a Sikh man to keep his kesh these days?" comment but i think it's been sufficiently answered, i will however say that if you have to ask a question like that then it may be worthwhile sitting down for a while and self-reflecting about what it is you expect from Sikhi, when we keep our kesh, tie a dastaar and even be fortunate enough to take amrit it doesn't instantly put us on another level, it's just the beginning of a journey that can take our entire lives to traverse.

I have a young son, we've kept his kesh, we've made sure he keep's the right sangat but it's a daily battle to tie his gutti at the moment, my wife give's up easily and often say's we should cut his hair (mostly out of frustration at him, he's six years old), every single time she say's it i cry inside, i do ardaas asking for forgiveness, i can't explain to her what keeping your kesh then eventually tying a dastaar means, to most people it's just hair, to someone like me it's a part of who i am, I hope that one day my son feels that way but i have to let him find his own way.

It’s a matter of faith. How strong you believe in Your Guru vs rest of the world. Most people eventually figure out all the worldly relations are in for their own selfish interests . So when you have Belief in you Guru keeping Kesh will just happen with ease. Anyway the answer to anyone questioning you or Sikhi is that  I do it out of my free will. I choose to follow my Guru, keep rehat so on and so forth. Free will is the greatest gift offered to us from GOD. We are all free to choose our experiences.

Only the Guru will be with you forever rest everyone will leave you at any point . All the family and other relations in this world are temporary. Our death brings an end to that bond. Dharam and the Guru are forever. All this love and other stuff is nonsense. All these people have become adharmis. They live their lives like they will never die. All these evil greedy people think they are invincible. But every one of us is here only temporarily. Because we choose maya over dharam we keep being born in this world over and over again.
