For me it's gone beyond that now. I think apneean these days are also likely to be targeted by nonpaks and this might not just be to 'turn them' into hookers and pass around around your family/mates but just to use them sexually. Again, (in my opinion) it's that infantilised mindset, often mixed with hormones and a blatant lack of social intelligence/experience. Fact is that once one community perceives another as a rival or a lesser species, the associated supremacist mindset invariably results in them targeting and abusing any females from the other community that comes to hand.

Plus we should acknowledge that we have had a lot of awareness campaigns over the last few decades now. An apnee must be living in cave not to realise this is going on these days.

Agree very much with most of what you have said.

I think ‘liberal’ parenting can make some suceptible to this still .

I have mentioned it before either here or on SA, but I think massive awareness needs to be targeted towards the ‘freshies’ and their children who have only come to the UK in recent years. They might have had limited experience /exposure to the stories/news on grooming and who might be more likely to consider other communities as ‘bhain’/‘bhra’ than we would .

No idea how our British Afghan Sikhs brothers/sisters see this because they have been persecuted in Afghanistan but apparently some work closely with/employ non-Sikh Afghans to work for them.

The ‘awareness’ campaigns seem quieter now (at least SAS seem to be quieter now). Anyone know how much work the likes of them and SYUK do at Universities snd Colleges ? I Imagine they are limited by political correctness and blacklisting

I agree. Remember Jassu here, who told us that her mother used to shoot down any conversation she tried to have with her about grooming? The liberal parenting in itself could be down to the parents themselves having that childlike, rose tinted, infantilised view of the world.

I think they all watch Sikh TV channels, how can they not be aware?

I've seen a few desi builders who have hired afghans as labourers etc. They seem close.

SYUK have been known to do awareness campaigns in unis. It's heartening to see, I remember when these started by members of SP in the mid to late 90s in unis. So we can say awareness campaigns like this have been going on for a few decades now.

Yea my mum would say don't talk bad about others, don't talk about those topics. Idk maybe this is just Desi mother mentality?

It's not. It differs from women to women. Actually if your mom's from back home, I'm genuinely shocked that she is saying what you said she says. Most have some inkling of what goes on and aren't all PC like that? Or maybe it's a later generation thing?
