I tried typing the Gurmukhi into a punjabi dictionary no luck. 

By the looks of it it can mean musket or a small piece of artillery (small canon). Shastar naam mala is like coded descriptions of weapons. I think a part of it was to promote and encourage lateral thinking in the Khalsa?

This is a translation of Nabha's Mahan Kosh on the topic (I don't agree with him on all things btw):

My thoughts on this usage of phrases from 8 years ago:

Taupak is also mention by Baba Nanak in Babbar Vani, one of the few banis that directly refer to historical events (the aftermath of the invasion of Babbur ). The bani is even more poignant given current events:

Yet no Mughal became blind and no magic of the pirs worked.
The Mughals and the Pathans were locked in battle, and they wielded their swords relentlessly, They fired their guns; they attacked with their elephants.

Of the wives of Hindus, of Turks, of Bhattis and of Thakur Rajputs,

The...mechanic...of this Ang is fascinating. What are your thoughts on this, repetitions of this word and that word and you get names for Tupak? I found myself sitting there saying the word combinations together seeing how they form together. I feel like the mechanism here...is more than meets the eye maybe?
