What's holding Sikhs back?

What is causing all the root problems for Sikhs? From weak leaders who can't run Punjab. To society issues in the Punjabi Sikh community back home and in the west 

Let's look at some main issues. 

Broken marriages/divorces, domestic violence, crime, sexual offenses/rape adultery,physical and mental health problems, family break downs, money,low morality,ethics and values and the list goes on ect. Feel free to add more issues affecting us. 

Can we pinpoint a root cause for all the above? I have a theory why Sikhs are failing not just in the west but in more importantly our own homeland Punjab.

Promotion and practice of Panjabi 'values' over Sikh ones has led to smallmindedness, a fractious society and endemic corruption. Also this strange childlike mentality the majority of apnay seem to have that has them stumbling around when it comes to grasping geo-political realities, both in Panjab and in the diaspora.

It is simple: "Sikhs" do not follow a way of life that is consistent with Sikhi

 

How else could divorce, domestic violence, crime, sexual offenses, alcoholism, drug abuse, female infanticide, caste-obsession, dowries, debt from spending on extravegant weddings etc. be huge problems in the Sikh community? All of those things are forbidden in Sikhi.

I think a lot of these issues (for example, alcohol abuse) have always been problems in the Sikh community. But some of these problems are relatively new.

I think one of the main problems is the promotion of a contrived Punjabi culture over Sikh values. Why do I use the word "contrived"? Because a lot of practices that are being portrayed as part of traditional Punjabi culture were not part of traditional Punjabi culture.

Bhangara is a great example of this. Young people (especially jatts) grow up thinking that it is some sort of long-standing tradition and a very important part of their heritage. In reality, no "respectable" people were partaking in dancing in previous generations.

I also think that weddings have gotten bigger and more extravagant. All sorts of silly things are presented as being part of "traditional" Sikh and/or Punjabi weddings when they simply aren't. Most of it is just an imitation of some sort of Bollywood fantasy.

Caste issues have always been a problem in the Sikh community (to our great shame), but I think they are an even bigger problem today. Why is it that the word "jatt" is used on average about 300 times in your typical 3 minute Punjabi song these days? Why does every other movie title have the word "jatt" in it?

 

I am sure that part of this degeneracy is promoted by external forces who want to see Sikhi die out. But at the end of the day, Sikhs latch on to it, and the responsibility lies with them.

Being loyal to others like gullible children, who in turn show no loyalty to us, and routinely support agencies inimical to any Sikh aspirations for a more prosperous and independent future.  

Can't tell a friend (not that we have many, if any) from a foe.
