"Caste" equality and diversity

With the jat Sikhs making the majority in Punjab and having the most power . IE in terms of politics and also religiously. IE all major people controling and running the Gurdwaras being from this demographic.

Should other castes be give some kind of quota for top jobs so we can have more equality and diversity in the Punjabi society and social strata. Or are they to power hungry and unable to share? 

I think that is the only way of achieving a strong United Punjab instead of one where there is to much in fighting and resentments.

Akaal Takht Jathedar is from a ‘low caste’

Same with recent ex-Chief Minister Channi.

There have been quotas in place for many years to ensure ‘lower castes’ get many reserved political seats and (from my understanding) the same with senior Religious positions. Same for government jobs and university places in general.

I didn’t say there is no racism in the Uk or that there is no casteism in Panjab. 

I have family back home involved in politics so I have primary sources for my info as well.

Again, to address directly the main points of the original post of this thread, it’s not just jatts in high positions and there are already quotas.

I agree casteism is a major obstacle for Ekta in the Panjabi Sikh community.

But, for example, more qualified people from ‘higher castes’ (including Tarkhans I think) cannot get jobs or university places because they go to the ‘scheduled castes’ first .

I've never heard a single tarkhan whining about this in my entire life myself personally. But a certain other 'flying' caste who seems to want everything handed to them on a plate can't stop crying about it at every opportunity they get.

Well, they seem completely useless. 

In any case, like we can have any impact on those pendus back home. Have you met and interacted with them? They know everything already. lol!

Truth is that most rural Panjabis have a normalised sociopathic mentality. That's why they always just say 'ehdhaan chaldaa eththay' (i.e. that's how it goes around here) to every last bit of backward behaviour and corruption.  Which is ironic because a big part of Sikhi (historically) actually revolved around confronting and changing established practices which were deemed as unhealthy to society.  So this idea in theory shouldn't be a big shock to pendus, but most clued up people know that in reality, what really dictates societal norms over there isn't any dharamic soch but rather pendu jut subechaar - which is why the place is such a underdeveloped sh1thole, complete with Gurdwaras you can donate toy aeroplanes too, to get Waheguru to help you fly away from the place............

First of all you said "low caste" which is quite disrespectful. There is no high or low castes. There maybe so called man made "castes" but none of them is higher or lower then each other. This just shows you actually may believe in caste heirachy.

Also caste quotas is something that was implemented by the government. I'm pretty sure if the elites of Punjab had it their way this policy would not exist.

I know this is a bait topic, but we'll ignore that, and take it on face value.

It's really difficult to sympathise with Jatts. The obvious affects of the destructive policies aimed at destroying Punjab and the millions of non-elite Jatts who just get on with life to the best of their ability, are plain to see. But you talk to them for even five minutes, and the way they view the world is just so mashed up. It's not normal. They're their own biggest enemies. They don't help themselves. Instead, they dig themselves into greater holes despite being aware of the consequences of doing so. The older I get, my tolerance levels for their nonsense is in the gutter. I'm not being salty or unnecessarily harsh. I do wish they'd "see the light" but the lens through which they understand reality is all over the place. I don't know how else to explain it.
