lol, did rajinder singh panesar say dat?, he means Jaap Sahib written by guru gobind singh ji, lol.....he ddnt say it was written to rap. he sed that it could be rapped, actually it that paat is used while doing Gatka sometimes.

Gurbani is not to be rapped, period.

Its Gurbani man..."dhur ki bani ayi, tin saglee chint mitayi" Its God's word, how can you rap it? That's insane. Sure you can recite it, but rapping it is not appropriate.

i don't think u can restrict Gurbani to just one way of reciting or language, or culture etc.

Gurbani is is universal and so anyone can Recite it however they feel comfertable as long as they are respecting it.

Guru Gobind Singhs banis were written in poetic verses with poetic "beats" or rythms.. different ones had names.. bhujang pryaat chhand, chachri chhand etc..

i agree with khalsa..it IS NOT respectful to banee if we rap it.. the genre of rap is commonly associated with the "rough-and-tough" attitude,punctuated with as many vulgarities as you can come across. plus do we wanna bring bani down to the level of creeps like Marshall Mathers(Eminem) ,Nelly and the like???????? :g :g :g *sorry if i offend any hiphop/rap fans here.... i dislike these artistes to the core. 4give me* I think not. Whatever it is, I'm not supportive of the idea of having bani being rapped.
