forgive me, cuz i'm not trying to foster inequality here, but i'm gonna try to parrallel this news (and it's good news in my eyes) to other areas....

in fact, i'll simply narrow it down to an open ended question, which i'm sure people will make their own assumptions from (which is a good thing in this case)

does this mean it's okay for sikhi to "adjust with the times" in some areas than in others??

after all, this isn't an old idea being brought back to the forefront... this is in fact a brand new..novel idea, of having singhnees doing keertan in Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.

so again.... is the idea of "moving with the times" a selective idea?

vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

Well I think that what we gotta remember is that Sikhi is a religion, but culture intertwines in everything we do.

Its not Sikhism that is changing... the teachings of our Gurus are the same, but the culture is finally beginning to catch up to it!

his is a step forward will prob a step back, grin.gif if u get wat i mean? I am glad we re finally waking up! This is great news, ^_^

Now all we need to see is the return of Raag keertan with traditional instrument from Guroos times, such as Saranda, sarangi, taus, dilruba, etc. wouldnt it be cool

THis is WICKEEEDD :@:@:@

I've been told that in the 1920's in the masand rule, Women (for obvious reasons) weren't aloud to do Kirtan di seva (because WOmen were trated very badly, a way i can not even describe ... please listne to the katha called 'SAka Nakana Sahib by BHai Pinderpal SIngh ji on gurmatveechar.com for more info), and other Sevas in the Gurdwaras, so it's jus been the way that these 'new people' havn't been bothered to chang eit and didn't wish to either.

so from what ive' heard prior to 1920's SInghnees were aloud to do Kirtan there - infact NOT a new thing .

this is very good news :@:@:@:@

pyare veer japman singh jee

this is not sikhs moving with the times

this is the SGPC catching up to the wishes of the panth for the last 100 years

they are still 100 years behind

you know when you go to get a driver's license they send it to you in the mail in a few days?

if you get a passport made it takes a week or two?

if you apply for immigration to a new country it can take months or years?

Gursikh Women have been demanding equal rights in Darbar Sahib for many years. Mahants, Narakdharis, Kookas, and RSS, and our own sheep in Lion's clothing Sikhs are the ones responsible for the delay in making this happen.

We're not moving with the times we're catching up to what should have been done a long time ago.

It seems SGPC has the longest turnover rate, more than any agency or bureaucracy out there.

please forgive my mistakes
