Well, i am so totally UNoffended....hehe.

So...a turban is a dastar? And it's optional for women (they could wear a patka instead)?

I think the reason i'm leaving Christianity is because of my family. They believe anyone who hasn't been "saved" and "baptised" in THEIR way is going to hell. I have trouble believing that. If God wanted us to be the same, why would he make us all so different? Shouldn't we celebrate that?

So, women do everything but the turban?

How would a Christian convert to Sikhism? How do you take amrit? Am i even allowed to convert if i'm white or a Christian?

Do women do all the K's the same way as men do? Since I'm a girl, and girls normally have silent roles in religion. At least, that's how i was brought up.

Is the language that is used here Punjab?

I know...pretty much nothing. I read about like unshorn hair rules and wearing cuffs on the arms and stuff, but nothing really detailed.

I'm kind of floating around as far as religion goes, and I'd like to know more about Sikhism. I was raised as a Christian, but a lot of it doesn't add up to me.... I'm just really confused. Meh.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm white, and i live in a town where 98% of the population are Christian. I was born into a christian family. I'm bombarded every day, not just by other people threatening me, but by my own family, sometimes, too. They tell me I'm going to hell, and it's hard to ignore sometimes.

I have always understood that Mary and Joseph were engaged to be married, not married. In fact, at first, Joseph didn't believe her and almost called the wedding off. But, somehow or other, an angel visited him and explained everything. So, it wasn't adultery.

Mary and Joseph weren't living in sin, either. Mary would clean Joseph's house when he worked, cook him dinner, then go home to her parents. Engaged couples lived that way for a year before they were married.

To answer the question that never really got answered, there is speculation about whether or not Jesus married Mary Magdalene, but we all know that the Vatican would never let anything like that get out, so we'll probably never know. Also, Jesus was Jewish, which means he most likely got married. That's just culture. And why should it be controversial? If everyone just shushed about every little controversial thing, nothing would EVER get discussed...also, if the Virgin Mary did have other children, it wouldn't mess up her status as the VIRGIN Mary, because she was married to Joseph. Just because she had Jesus wouldn't mean she wasn't allowed to have a relationship with her husband. But that's just me. That's what I think. And, the da Vinci code was an amazing book, just because it delved into what people would normally never talk about. But, again, that's just me. But, I don't want anyone mad at me for saying this stuff. I'm just here to learn.
