  1. Article Image IS open day for budding IS apprentices. Page Content Are you or someone you know thinking about a career in IT? Our Information Systems (IS) team is holding an open day as part of National Apprentice Week 2015 when you can find out about our industry leading IS apprenticeship programme. Date and Venue: 10 March 2015 at Swan House, Staines - session times 10.00am and 1.30pm. The open day sessions will include a presentation on the IS apprenticeship programme and give you the opportunity to meet some of our IS apprentices to hear about their experiences. You'll also be able to question some of our experts. Since 2011, IS has recruited a new group of apprentices each September – and David Cooper, chief information officer is in no doubt of the benefits of the programme: "It's incredibly important for us to have a way of getting fresh talent into the organisation. Each year we take a number of apprentices from a wide range of disciplines and ages. "It's amazing how fast people can develop and how much they can contribute to an organisation when they're given the chance. It's really pleasing to see the apprentices develop and blossom." Sound interesting? If you'd like to spend a couple of hours finding out about the programme then they'd love to see you at the open day – but hurry as places are limited and by invitation only! Please send your name, email address, contact number and how you heard about the event to: AttractionTeam@centrica.com quoting NAW OPEN DAY in the subject of the e-mail. Or follow this link http://www.britishgasjobs.co.uk/careers/apprentices-and-trainees/national-apprenticeship-week and you'll be contacted with further information. Here's a bit more on our IS apprenticeship programme... Based in Staines, this two-year programme gives apprentices the knowledge, skills and experience they need to launch a successful career in IT. They'll gain a level four diploma in ICT systems and principles on completion and also have the chance to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award (or British Gas award programme if aged 25 and over). Depending on skills and interests, the programme offers roles in a variety of areas in IS and is a realistic alternative to university that pays while you learn. The competitive salary starts at £13,000, rising to £18,000 initially while training and subject to meeting targets along with a generous bonus scheme. (Please note that apprentices will need to live within commutable distance of Staines and relocation terms are not on offer for this role). The successful candidate will have two A Levels A - E or equivalent or a level three IT apprenticeship. They'll also need personal qualities; the drive and determination to succeed, a logical and analytical mindset, the ability to problem solve a 'can-do' attitude and a dedicated approach to work.
