  1. 4givme4mysins Ji, Very nice shabad thanks for sharing, Very nice indeed. Dear Manmit Chera ji, Nice sentiment, could have written learning from Guru Nanak is the minimum requirement. Thanks A Singh
  2. First of all I am very pleased with the very knowledgeable comments made by almost all people. Random Singhni Ji, ---->>> you are right birth / parents are not important at all to be Sikh, yes it helps to be one but it is not a requirement or a qualification for a Sikh Dalsingh101---->> you have right sentiments when you say “Feels internally connected to Sikhism/Sikhs as their primary allegiance” but the requirement to be Sikh is primarily about being a student – A learner. Akitsoforeverr Ji --- >>Thanks for putting it very simply and beautifully. :WW: Ocelot Ji:--->>> you have written very nice too. When we say recite ( or Jaapna) it is reciting to learn , earn and burn( learn to how you should be, Earn virtues with your acts and Burn the evils within you), you have also mentioned the learning to start with too , I have just expanded on it. :e: Dalsingh101ji: --->>Ocelot ji is following the thread as what is minimum requirement, I have mentioned that the highest level is not part of this thread. Of course what you are saying have important message and is a requirement but it is goes bit further then minimum. But still thanks for your contribution. :awesome Mehtab Singh Ji,::---->>> Simply the Fantastic Words. :WW: Vato ji:--->>> Please expand on your comments. I am interested in knowing your thoughts in bit more details. :TH: Hardeep Singh ji: -->>Thanks for contribution. :TH: Dalsingh101:-->> thanks for the update, Yes Miri and Priri are important aspects but they are bit further then the starting point to become a Sikh. KullyKhalsa Ji---> Could you be bit more clear, as I am not getting the clear picture of your thoughts. In my view Two things are absolutely minimum to be a Sikh. 1. Acceptance that there is a God. 2. Acceptance that Shri Guru Granth Sahib is my Guru and I am going to learn from Him. After that everything else you have to work toward it, But please carry on giving your opinions.
  3. Dear all , I am starting this thread as there are numerous threads where people have given strong points on saying , this is not a Sikh, that is not a Sikh. I want to know what we all believe , perceive, expect , assume , want, wish, understand or know what a Sikh is. In simple word what is required minimum to be called a Sikh. There is no limit on the maximum so we don’t need to talk about that on this thread. Try to be brief. Feel Free to be a part of this learning process. I hope this is going to be a good learning opportunity for all involved. Different views are welcome. You could try to make your point by indicating your source, it could be your understanding, friend ‘s advice , family view, book, a saint, a religious person, Rehtnama, Shabad, What Guru Sahib is saying according to your understanding, organisation , website , feeling , even just a though of a moment, or have heard about, anything at all you have to say. Please be honest and open about it is a learning process so be part of it. Just remember it is about the minimum requirement to be called a Sikh . ====== Just to get started=========== Some most common things appear to be are: 1. Born in Sikh Family 2. Amritdhari 3. 5 K’s on somebody make them a Sikh ………and so on ….. above 3 are some of the prevailing ideas. They are not my belief or understanding I have written to just to get things started. Main thing is feel free and contribute. Thanks A Singh
