I've done it a few time myself, as with the motions of the naam simran being said and the "sound" of it.

Can anyone give me more info, like that is it called, if theres a better term, etc...

THE ONLY thing which i have learned is that you should NOT Feel your body during naam simran, coz body is an illusion. Hence The shaking in my view is Manmat

well my question is do we really need god? why do we ahve to praise him to get his blessings? i dont wanna offend anyone but does god have an ego that he wants us to praise him???

why dont you ask God?? or even guru ji.

e.g. In guru granth sahib it is wrriten tremendous times that you need guru to go to God. Why? Why guru let us to bow them? we dont worship them but at least we bow them. why? is that ego?

there are many things which we dont know and can`t understand. If you want to get an answer ask from him who created the world , not from world.

P.S Albert Einstine: If God has created the whole world, his primary worry would be not to make its understanding easy for us.

P.P.S. Sorry , i guess god has just given me the answer : The answer is : Suppose you have a child (newborn). You`ll teach her that you are her parents and she need to be in fear with you. She need to love you. She need to respect you. and if she ask you WHY? she need to parise her parents/ or respect , or be in Law made by her parents, What will be your answer?????

if u guys know punjabi then there is an adhiyan of rehatnama by chaupa singh ji.Its web address is:

It has couple sections and 2 sections caught my eyes.One about 'kutha' and other about 'nari(women)'.

Kutha discuss the regular debate on meat and give some references from some rehatnamas for jhatka...but we all know meat is NOT okay.....so leave it.PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS MEAT HERE IN THIS THREAD.

My main concern by 'women'.There are some remarks in the rehatnama which are very dangerous for gender equality' principal of sikhism.The rehatnama by chaupa singh ji straightaway states that "donot trust women", "its a sin to have joothh od women", "women should not read holy scriptures in the congregration" etc etc.

So I want to know the stand of forum gursikhs who strictly follow rehatnamas over this very issue.

Well. These rehtnama thing always gave me problem. I think the sikh of those time try to make these Rules and things like muslim do in their country. They just copy those. Women /Muslim/ Hindu are their main target . I can`t beilve much of the stuff i use to hear from childhood was not said by our guru`s but present in these rehtnama. They are strict and far away from the basic principle guru nanak dev ji gave to us. The babbar khalsa also try to use it in 80`s when they ordered the school girls to dress in black and kesri and blah blah.

But on other hand the more stupidity i read in these text the more i trust on Guru Gobind singh. and now i KNOW why sikhism is

going downfall

WHY? because guru gobind singh said

'Jab eh Gaeyo Bipran ki reet , mein na karho en ki parteet'

When Khalsa go to the Bipran ki reet( Bharamanistic thinking - ritualism ) , i`ll never care for khalsa

and indeed it was.

Kala afghan is stupid. but i now its even hard to trust on Bhai Randhir singh.

Why did bhai randhir singh wrote in his autobiography that he met a guy who know how to produce gold from Metal, and How come keski is in 5ks , but not Kes.

And finally I dont care about desa singh and other guys but i care about nand lal. He was guru gobind singh`s fast friend. How come he wrote something like that.

I wonder.....

Observation: THE MAJORITY of our community are ashamed to look like Sikhs, we are ashamed to keep our kesh, keep our beard, wear dastars, wear our kirpans, recite simran. We are even ashamed to respond to a Jaikara or say fateh! We avoid sitting in our Gurdwara diwans any longer than we feel is needed. We are even embarrassed to close our eyes in the Gurdwara and recite simran or enjoy kirtan. We are embarresed to drop everything in order to do our Reharas in the evening because we are at college or at work or our relatives might think we are fanatical.

Then this same community crys because they think all kaurs will became khans or the state of the panth in bad!! Cliché.

Isnt all about continous improvement? According to Gurbani one is either a manmukh or a gurmukh, i think we all know what we are meant to be heading towards. A community is made up of individuals, until we as individuals dont improve our jeevans, what hope do we have for the community!

Yes you got it right. Either one is manmukh or gurmukh. And we need to improve it as individuals.

Bana, Bani, Simran, and Seva should be essence of life.

WE always do simran and we have never refuse to fight for others whenever needed.

But What about the community around us who still think we are from jungle?

They have forget that Sikh have participated in freedom fight for Australia , France etc.And now those people have forget our sacrifice, even we have forget our sacrifice. Now they think we are from another planet.They have made their laws which compromise our freedom.

Be strong in you faith first and then tell others about your faith. If you Do NOT then they will assume whatever they want to and soon they gonna raise questions.

Believe it or not but There is a STRONG need to educate otherwise soon our names will be in extinct species.

My point is here to Spread the Sikhism. Not to seek Converts but to Spread it.

We are not against any religion and in fact we do believe in all the religion and we ( i guess ) are the only people who actually open gates for all other religion .

We believe that regardless of the religion , its his/her faith which is more important and which build their relationship with god.

We are the only people on this planet who respect ( and yes we do) every other religion and DIE for them.

We have faced torture, discrimination, execution . Why?? just to save ourself or others. We never seek converts, we never seek country, we never go beyond our limits. So that`s what we are now.

Let me tell you specifically what went wrong here. We are more in numbers than jews . We are 8-9th biggest religion in world (Major religious groups - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) . Punjabi is in list top 20 languages ( List of languages by number of native speakers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

Yet a few knows about us.

Yes we are talking about this. 21th century doesn't mean that we have conquered god or even close to it.

Beware Sikh. No one has compassion for us. If you see anybody who looks like doesn't know about Sikhism and ask you stupid questions and make your fun. Dont be surprise and do not expect any gratitude from him/her. This is not their fault that they did not appreciate our philosophy but ours who have failed to convey them at first.

Let me ask ourself What have we done to teach non-Sikh about our culture? now don't give me answers like 'Punjabi MC, or some bhangra nation have already been in good reputation in west." Yes they have done terribly nice job but what about our identity? our faith?

People still think that we are some deviated version of Islam or so. They think we are most illiterate and dirty people in the world. why? because we do not shave and put turban on their head and always carry weapon with us.

If a person born in Maryland, MD , have been already terrified with 9/11 and all he knows is that there is another world across Atlantic Ocean who live in desert and wear turban as he probably seen on TV and who had attacked us on Sept 2001.

Now let me ask you Where things gone wrong? We can think that this person is probably illiterate. He does n`t know anything about Sikhism. He is confusing us with Muslim and we are not Muslim.

Yes this person does not know anything about Sikhism but who`s job is to make him literate? obviously OURS.

No body gonna come from heaven and tell everybody that what Sikhism is and how is it different.

And we need to talk with each and everyone before they ask us and raise question to us. We need to tell everyone and we have to. This is what our identity is and if we do not make known to us then probably in future we gonna put ourself into much more problem than we are facing now.

People Scare from us. like we are from different planet. They dont think we are human. They scare from our turban and our kirpan. No body know what the hell does 'sikh' means.

Come oh all my bro`s and sis. WE have to get together and we have to go in all direction with a message of peace and humanity. WE have faced enough till now but we have to do something on International level.

THIS is the right time and no other time will be more right. If you want to protect us, our community then we have to take these first steps.
