  1. I think it is scary when people are saying that it is ok to listen to namdharees because they play great Tabla or Vaja. It then seems that those that don't have any problem with the namdharees go for the musical skill of the namdharees. We are treating Kirtan as going to a musical concert not Kirtan. So it doesn't matter how well someone can Sing or play an instrument. If that person doesn't even believe in what he or she is singing, then that person or persons should not be allowed to do Kirtan, or if they are doing it they should be boycotted.

A couple of years ago we had a namdharee tabla player come in to our local Gurdwara to "show off" his skills in Kirtan. And once I found out who he was, I got up and left. I even asked the head of the Gurdwara committee, he was mona, as to why he brought in the namdhree, and he said he didn't have any problem with it because this namdharee tabla player was one of the best in the world and that's what counted.

  2. The way I see it is that those that do Kirtan Seva do have an effect on the Sangat, whether we realize it or not. The effects on the Sangat can be visual and spirtual. For example if a non-Sikh or patit is doing Kirtan that can have an effect on the Sangat that it is ok to cut one's hair and more so the children and youth can get a negative impression and feel that if a non-Sikh or patit is accepted by the Sangat to lead it in Kirtan then they can also follow that path. Spiritually, if someone is of Chardee Kala and is an Amritdharee GurSikh with lots of Kamaee then some of that GurSikh's spiritual power will also be passed to the Sangat. If someone of no Spiritual power or Kamee, in the case of Namdharees they don't even believe Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, then only negative vibes will be passed to the Sangat, whether they realize it or not. So it's not about judging others, we all have faults, but doing Kirtan Seva is a privilege, not a right, and only those who are proper Sikhs should lead, and this according to Akhal Thakat Marayda, not AKJ or anyone else. Nowadays everywhere you look anyone and everyone does Kirtan, there are no rules and no one really cares. Even at our local Gurdwara non-Sikhs do most of the Seva. That's just the way it is.

So who does Kirtan is a big deal, it's not about passing judgment, but doing what is right. That is right which benefits the Sangat.

  4. He does speak against it in the beginning of the video. If we feel there is something being said against Sikhi or something is not correct then the Sangat has a right to say something. If KhalsaProductions leaves the video up that is their choice.

  5. The fact that he specifically says that saying Vaheguru in repetition is not Naam Simran is where i have the issue. He has no right to say that. He can state his experiences but he doesn't have to attack Naam Japna. I found it offensive. I don't see any value in what he is saying.
