Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) with the cooperation of all Panthic Organizations will be holding a Panthic Seminar in Remembrance of the 25^th Anniversary of Operation Bluestar.

We urge the California Sikh community to come and join us in this sorrowful remembrance of Operation Blue Star, in which thousands of innocent Sikh men, woman, and children were brutally murdered by the Indian army at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, in June of 1984.

For those that are out of state/country and unable to attend, we will be broadcasting live (www.AkaliDalAmritsar.org), both the seminar at Crown Plaza hotel on May 30^th 2009 between 5pm and 9pm Pacific time and also from San Jose Gurdwara Sahib May 31^st 2009 between 11 – 2pm. Shame on Sarna for asking Sikhs to support such a person

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee chief Paramjit Singh Sarna has urged SAD MPs to shun petty party politics and enhance their global image as nationalists by supporting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's nuclear deal with the USA.

It is a time for the Akalis in general and the Sikhs in particular to rally behind an honest and committed Dr Manmohan Singh whose elevation as Prime Minister had given the community respectability worldwide.

Though the present ruling group in the DSGMC, led by Sarna brothers, has been known for its tilt towards the Congress, the letter of Paramjit Singh Sarna appreciating SAD's policies and programmes has come as a pleasant surprise to SAD workers. For a long time, Sarna-led group had confronted Parkash Singh Badal not only in the Delhi gurdwara politics but also in the Panthic affairs.

In a letter addressed to all SAD MPs, Paramjit Singh Sarna, reminded the SAD of unfortunate events that the Sikh community had faced in 1980s. "These incidents culminated into Operation Bluestar. The anti-Sikh riots of 1984 presented them in a light completely unknown to them. The patriotism of Sikhs was put under a scanner and the community remained at the receiving end in India and abroad for quite sometime. However, the national forces asserted after sometime and the opinion makers loudly admitted that the Sikhs had been wronged," writes Sarna in his letter.

He says: "The Shiromani Akali Dal always stands firm for the respectability and prestige of the Panth. A similar situation had arisen at the time of nomination of Giani Zail Singh as presidential candidate by the Congress. Even at that time the SAD played a very constructive, rather commendable role in the national interest in general and Panthic interest in particular by supporting his candidature."

Sarna has also cautioned the Akalis against those "anti-national forces that are always active in damaging the national and minority interests to establish their so-called nationality to achieve their own vested interests. In the present national crisis, nationalist forces have an opportunity to prove their national, secular and Panthic ideology by supporting the most learned, honest and dedicated visionary statesman, Dr Manmohan Singh, who has established Sikh identity globally. The proposed nuclear deal with the US is beyond any doubt in the larger interest of the country. All of us as a minority community should think and support him to enhance the image of the Sikh community in India and abroad, says Sarna.

The DSGMC chief also reminds Akalis that the Shiv Sena, in spite of being a constituent of the NDA, openly supported Pratibha Patil in the last presidential elections.

"I take this opportunity to appeal to you to consider this very important fact by rising above the party politics by thinking as a national-secular Sikh and extending support to Dr Manmohan Singh in Parliament," adds Sarna.

N-deal: 'Cong ignored regional parties' Sarbjit Dhaliwal

Regional parties have a grudge against the Congress-led UPA government for not taking them into confidence on the nuclear-deal issue.

Expressing his views, senior Akali leader and state cooperation minister Kanwaljit Singh said the UPA did not even once raise the issue with the regional parties such as the SAD, which had been taking stand on issues of national importance.

"The Congress leadership discussed the issue with the Left parties several times. A joint working group was also set up. Several meetings were held. But the Congress did not think it appropriate to hold meetings with the leaders of regional parties to take them into confidence on the issue," said Capt Kanwaljit Singh.

He said officially, his party had not information with regard to the deal.

"We don't know what the deal is, how it is in the interest or against the country," said the minister. "Whatever we know about the deal is all that has come to us through print and electronic media."

He said the Congress deputed senior officers to brief the Samajwadi leaders on the deal. Prime Minister himself briefed the SP leaders and the PMO immediately issued clarifications on the questions asked by the SP about the deal. But, the Congress leadership did not bother to brief other regional parties. He said the regional parties and its leaders were important players in the country's politics and they could not be ignored while taking important decisions with regard to the foreign policy and also on the issues such as WTO, etc.

Capt Kanwaljit Singh said at the moment, the SAD would not support the UPA government in Parliament on the deal.

"Our party would chalk out its strategy on the deal at a meeting of its core group on July 15," he said. "We would take a decision that would be in our best political interest."

As the SAD has eight MPs in the Lok Sabha, its political stand vis-à-vis the nuclear deal and in parliament is being keenly watched by the leadership of national parties. In fact, in emerging political situation at the national level, the SAD can play a decisive role in dislodging or saving the Manmohan Singh government.

The Sikhs are an independent, separate and sui generis sovereign, pluralistic and democratic nationality. To say that because there's an Indian Prime Minister who is a Sikh, we Sikhs are bound by his decision on foreign and nuclear policy is an insult to our nationhood. It is churlish, na�ve, perverted and wooly headed too.

This Sikh Prime Minister of India has never consulted us Sikh's on this sensitive issue. Then how can we support him? Nazi Germany installed Quisling, a Norwegian in Norway as its dictator and Marshal Philippe Pētain a French "patriot" in the same capacity in France. We ask did the Norwegians and French support these toadies of the Nazi regime?

According to our party the 123 Agreement is flawed as India in keeping within the provisions of its own Constitution, Article 51, has not signed the N.P.T., C.T.B.T. and the forthcoming F.M.C.T. India has kept its military nuclear reactors outside the inspection and scrutiny of IAEA and National Security Adviser Mr. Narayanan has said mindless of the Hyde Act, India can make more nuclear blasts. India has reserved its rights before the IAEA to stockpile nuclear fuel reserves in the likelihood of sanctions against it. As such it has cocked a snook at these world bodies and America. This defies reason and logic.

What is national interest?

The Sikh's being a separate nation we do not understand what is the national interest? The former Soviet Union touted its national interest but did it represent the nations that broke away from the Soviet empire? Our party would not mind the 123 Agreement if India denuclearizes, signs the N.P.T., CTBT and proposed F.M.C.T. and puts all its reactors under perpetual IAEA and NSG controls, administration, management and proprietorial custody as any foreign embassy under the Geneva Convention. All reactors must be for civil nuclear energy only.

As such our party negates the 123 Agreement in the Sikh national interest and does not support the argument of the right wing ultra nationalist parties the Congress and the BJP, both responsible for the genocide of the Sikh race. We appeal to the American Congress, IAEA and NSG not to support the lame-duck Bush Administration on this issue as it would lead to further nuclear proliferation. The Sikh policy stands for a nuclear weapon free South Asia and supports peace. The Scandinavian countries, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan and some other countries which consider nuclear proliferation an anathema are requested to help out the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) to keep peace in this region. We applaud the role of Australian Prime Minister Mr. Kevin Rudd and his Foreign Minister Mr. Stephen Smith, both world statesmen, who have boldly condemned the 123 Agreement. We also appreciate the minds of the possible and probable Presidents of America Mr. Obama and Mr. Macaine, respectively in having second thoughts on this proposal, which if passed will leave no room to stop other countries who have not signed the N.P.T and C.T.B.T. from becoming nuclear states.

The Sikhs are an independent, separate and sui generis sovereign, pluralistic and democratic nationality. To say that because there's an Indian Prime Minister who is a Sikh, we Sikhs are bound by his decision on foreign and nuclear policy is an insult to our nationhood. It is churlish, na�ve, perverted and wooly headed too.

This Sikh Prime Minister of India has never consulted us Sikh's on this sensitive issue. Then how can we support him? Nazi Germany installed Quisling, a Norwegian in Norway as its dictator and Marshal Philippe Pētain a French "patriot" in the same capacity in France. We ask did the Norwegians and French support these toadies of the Nazi regime?

According to our party the 123 Agreement is flawed as India in keeping within the provisions of its own Constitution, Article 51, has not signed the N.P.T., C.T.B.T. and the forthcoming F.M.C.T. India has kept its military nuclear reactors outside the inspection and scrutiny of IAEA and National Security Adviser Mr. Narayanan has said mindless of the Hyde Act, India can make more nuclear blasts. India has reserved its rights before the IAEA to stockpile nuclear fuel reserves in the likelihood of sanctions against it. As such it has cocked a snook at these world bodies and America. This defies reason and logic.

I am referring S. Karamjit Singh S/O S. Sohan Singh permanent resident of Vill & P.O.: Chhatri, Tehsil: Thunag, Distt: Mandi (H.P.).

Karamjit Singh is an Amritdhari Sikh. On 06^th April 2008 he was beaten up by some Brahmins of Chhatri Village, his hair were cut, his mini sword (Kirpan) which he was wearing was thrown into the toilet pipe, his turban and hair were burnt, his wife was insulted. FIR No 82/08 dated 19 Apr 08 under Section 147,325, 295 IPC to this effect was lodged in Police Station Gohar. But no arrest has been made so far.

S. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab says that he has formed the alliance with BJP to protect the Sikhs. But it is unfortunate; sacrilege has taken place, when you are the Chief Minister. Sikhs in India and all over the world are very perturbed over this incident in Himachal Pardesh, where everybody knows the tenants of the Sikh faith.

The police and local population is putting pressure to withdraw the case. This is totally unbecoming of the police force, which is ment to be a fair, impartial, and constitutional (secularism) in the hallmark of Indian Constitution. S. Karamjit Singh along with his family wants to flee Himachal Pardesh. But I have assured him that his religion and security would be ensured and protected by the Chief Minister.

I will be highly grateful, if you could personally look into the case and provide justice to S. Karamjit Singh.

A Rasta Rokho program was given by Sardar Simranjeet Singh Mann in response to the killing of a Sikh by members of dera sacha sauda. The reports received from party workers in various districts in Punjab said that the protest program was successfull. Everyone has demanded the arrest of the murderer and rapist sirsa saadh.

According to report by Iqbal Singh Tiwana, the media in charge for Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), party workers stopped trains in Patiala, Sangrur, Moga, and other cities, in Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar, Gurdaspur, Bhatinda, Muktsar, Firozpur, Faridkot, and other cities they protested by stopping all cars and buses. Bhai Ram singh and Bhai Tiwana congradulated the Sangat on their success especially for assembling on such a short notice and showed that they are firm in their stance in standing up and raising their voice againt all oppression. Both also decried how the police had arrested its partys workers in large numbers before the protests.

ਇਸੇ ਤਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਪੁਲਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਨ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਐਗਜੈ਼ਕਟਿਵ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਛਾਪਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ, ਜਿਥੋਂ ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਾਂ ਪੁਲਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਲੇਕਿਨ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਲੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਗਈ। ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਮਹਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਦੀ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੋੜ ਫੋੜ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਕੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਨ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਯੂਥ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਬਗੀਚਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੇਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਐਲਾਨੇ ਗਏ ਰੇਲ ਰੋਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਹੀਲੇ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦ ਹਰ ਧੱਕੇਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋੜਵਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ 24 ਜੂਨ ( ) :- ਸਿਵ ਸੈਨਾ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਬਾਲ ਠਾਕਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਖਬਾਰ ਸਾਮਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਬਦਾਵਲੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਣਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਬੂਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ, ਭੈਣਾਂ, ਬਹੁ-ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਬਰੀ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਗਜਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਸਰੇ ਦੇ ਬਜਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੱਕੇ-ਟੱਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਬਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਜੁਰਗ ਸਨ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਠਾਕਰੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਜੁਰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਸ਼ਰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਗਿੱਦੜ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਠਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਰਗੇ ਮੁਤਸਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰਕੂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਣ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਲੋਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿਫਾਜਤ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸਰਬੰਸ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਇਨਸਾਨੀਅਤ ਪੱਖੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲ ਕੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਾਜੀ-ਨਿਵਾਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਚੁਨੌਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਜੁਰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਿਤ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਦਾਲੀ, ਜਕਰੀਆਂ ਖਾਂ, ਨਾਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਹ, ਮੱਸਾ ਰੰਘੜ ਤੇ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਜਾਲਮ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨ ਵੀ ਜਬਰ ਦੀ ਈਨ ਨਾ ਮਨਾ ਸਕੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲ ਠਾਕਰੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਿੱਦੜ-ਭਬਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਮੁਤਸਵੀ ਲੋਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਥਿੜਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਣਗੇ।

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਰਨਲ ਡਾਇਰ, ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਤੇ ਜਰਨਲ ਵੈਦਿਆ ਵਰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਠਾਕਰੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਇਨਸਾਨੀਅਤ ਤੇ ਇਖਲਾਕ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਧਮਕੀਆਂ ਦੇਣ ਜਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਅਪਮਾਨਿਤ ਸਬਦ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਕੇ ਵਿਧਾਨਿਕ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜਿਆਦਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਵਾਜ ਬੁੰਲਦ ਕਰਦੇ। ਸ: ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਨ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ 90% ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।

ਸ: ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਸ: ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੱਕੜ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪੁਰਜੋਰ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਕਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ 5 ਲੱਖ ਦੀ ਤੁਛ ਜਿਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਦੇ ਰੁਤਬੇ ਦਾ ਅਪਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੇਕਿਨ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤੁਲਨਾਵਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਰਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੁਸਤਾਖੀ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ 25 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ 11 ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ 1 ਵੱਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਅਵਾਜਾਈ ਠੱਪ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਤਸਵੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਧੀਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

Man killed in firing by Dera chief's bodyguard Mumbai, June 20

A 50-year-old Sikh was today killed in firing by the bodyguard of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Singh, who earned the wrath of Sikh clergy, outside a suburban mall during a protest against the spiritual guru by a Sikh group, which turned violent, the police said.

A group of Sikhs shouted anti-Dera slogans inside the Nirmal Lifestyles mall in suburban Mulund during a visit by Dera chief to the place this evening, a senior police officer said.

The protest by Sikhs led to altercations between Dera chief 's supporters and the Sikh group, which turned violent after the group allegedly started pelting stones, he said.

The Dera chief left the mall immediately at around 6.45 pm for a programme scheduled later in the evening.

"While the motorcade was passing for the programme, some Sikh protesters attempted to block the way and charged towards the vehicles when a private bodyguard is suspected to have opened fire," the officer said.

One person suffered grievous injuries in the firing and was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed. The deceased was identified as Balkar Singh Thakur Singh (50), he said. � PTI
