well i know that but the jathedar of shri akal takht vedanti is a mere puppet in the hands of badal ...y only the likes of mr sarna and mr darshan singh khalsa are summoned every six months ....y is that due to all non panthic activities badal hasnt been summoned by akal takht in last 5-7 years.....these are politics my frend.....

akali dal amritsar maybe good but only in punjab becasue it is better than akali dal badal ...but delhi is much better governed adn there is still plenty of sikhi in delhi unlike punjab which has to be the mecca of sikhs....have anythin to say to that

well nano second ur right till some point but my motive is no political ..lol im jus 16 years old ..i jus post topics related to dsgmc because ppl only here know the flaws and the allegation ..they hav never heard anything good abt the dsgmc ..thanks to the biist panthic.org..who jus keeps posting the negetive side....thats my motive the same pic is there because i try to put a pic in evry of my posts ....see my post on guru arjandevji.....its jus that the pic displays mr sarna speaking to press thats what common...lol and im no die hard party work ...im in 11th grade and i think i will only speak on the topic i have full information on ...and i live in delhi where the highest sikh body is dsgmc and the president for all sikhs in delhi is mr sarna...now is there anything wrong in following the head of ur panthic organisation

The big fat Sikh wedding is banned Jeremy Page in Delhi The big fat Indian wedding has been told to slim down. Leaders of Delhi's Sikh community have called for an end to lavish wedding celebrations featuring meat and alcohol on the grounds that they encourage the dowry system and female foeticide. The Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee, the city's top Sikh body, has told the capital's one million Sikhs to boycott weddings that are not teetotal, vegetarian and over by noon. Similar measures are being considered in other Indian cities. Sikhs are supposed to avoid unnecessary expenditure, but their weddings have become increasingly ostentatious in recent years. Many last several days, beginning with the groom's procession to the bride's home and culminating in a banquet featuring tandoori chicken, beer and whisky and dancing into the night. One of the most extravagant on record was that of Vikram Chatwal, a New York-based hotelier, and Priya Sachdev, an Indian model. Their ceremony last year involved twenty-five parties, held over ten nights in three cities. The committee has ordered Delhi's 350 gurdwaras (Sikh temples) not to issue wedding certificates to families who ignore its guidelines. Those who hold wedding processions in the evening will not be allowed to marry in a gurdwara. "Our fight is against the exploitation by those who pose demands on the girl's family to organise elaborate weddings," Paramjit Singh Sarna, the committee president, said. "It is this splurge of wealth on ceremonies which is promoting dowry and practices like female foeticide." Although it is technically illegal to demand a dowry, most Indians ignore the ban. The bride's family is expected to pay for a sumptuous wedding and give the groom's family cash and other gifts. As a result, daughters are traditionally seen as a financial burden and many Indians kill newborn girls or abort female foetuses. The Indian Medical Association says that five million female foetuses are terminated every year. The issue was highlighted last week when the wife of an Indian millionaire accused him of forcing her to abort two girls. Sardar Ram Singh, another Sikh leader in Delhi, said that the committee's new guidelines would soon be taken up elsewhere. "I am confident that over 95 per cent Sikhs will positively respond to our appeal," he said. Similar calls have fallen on deaf ears on the past. "There might be a show of restraint, but at the end of the day, Sikhs like to party," one 31-year-old Sikh man who is about to get married said. "I don't think we'll be changing our plans."

Guru Arjan Devji's martyrdom day observed Tribune News Service New Delhi, June 16 A huge congregation attended a special function which was held at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib here, in connection with the Martyrdom Day anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, today under the aegis of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The programme started early morning with recitation of Sukhamani Sahib and Nitnem. Asa Di // was recited by Ragi Jatha of Bhai Manohar Singh and Gurinder Singh. Thereafter, Shabad Vichar with historical background of Guru Arjan Dev was delivered by Giani Shivteg Singh. After Shabad Vichar, Shabad Kirtan by renowned Ragi Jathas continued. Paramjit Singh Sarna, president, and Balbir Singh, general secretary-Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee also attended the congregation. Jathedar Kudip Singh, sr president, Dawinder Singh Kawatra, jr. vice-president, Kartar Singh Kochhar, joint secretary were also present in the congregation. All other prominent members of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee attended the congregation. Paramjit Sarna, president-DSGMC, delivered a lecture related to the background leading to the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev and revived the memories of Sikh Sangat about Guru Arjan Dev’s martyrdom and Sikh history. Before his martyrdom, Guru Arjan Dev advised his son, Guru Hargobind Sahib to raise a regular army due to the changed circumstances. Guru Hargobind Sahib decorated himself with two swords “Miri and Piri” with the help of Baba Budha and Bhai Gurdass. Guru Hargobind Sahib raised ‘Akal Takhat Sahib’, the seat of Sarbat Khalsa. A special Amrit Sanchar programme was also arranged early in the morning at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. Guru Ka Langar (Free Community Kitchen) was served to all the devotees irrespective of caste, colour and creed.

well pnly for ur knowledge frend..thesikh marriage act is only opposed by the bjp which is a close aid of akali dal badal in punjab . they want to pass this sikh marriage act when badal group is in power but then congress still has a majority and it may be passed anytime this month

Currently, marriages of Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains are governed under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Union Law Minister HR Bhardwaj told the Rajya Sabha on Monday that the government has taken note of demands in this regard from various Sikh organisations and "there should not be a problem" in introducing such an act. "We will bring it soon," he said, replying to supplementary questions. Various Sikh bodies, including the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DSGPC) have been demanding separate law governing the marriages in the community. They argue that Sikhism is a separate religion and solemnization of their marriages under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 was not proper. Expressing gratitude to the UPA government, S Paramjit Singh Sarna, president of the Gurudwara Management Committee, said, "We are happy that UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are sensitive towards our demand. We want that the Sikh marriages be registered under the act meant for the community and not under the Hindu Marriage Act, as it is presently." While some experts says that the Sikh Marriage Act will not be significantly different from the Hindu Marriage Act, S Manjit Singh Khaira, senior advocate at the Punjab High Court who had drafted the proposal for the Sikh Marriage Act for Pakistan said, "In the Act for Sikhs only some Hindu specific sections have been removed, the rest of it is exactly the same." According to Khaira, the Hindu Marriage Act is all encompassinga s it has a provision making it applicable to Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains as well. However, Sarna said the Sikh Marriage Act is different and will mention the marriage conditions specific to the Sikh community.

i agree to that but then u shuld noe that strict actionwas also taken against the dsgmc employees under whose supervision the printing was being done . they were all fired. and an investigative commitee has been formed in that case by akali dal delhi.

i agree nirwair singhji..but the point here is that despite looking for panthic terroists in the panth we are looking for them outside the panth. why does mr sarpanch who keeps posting articles frm panthic.org. he never has said anything in his posts abt works of badal and his ppl . 2day it is very sadning to see that sikhs have become a minority in punjab . y dont ppl post how the badal group got kirtan done by panth patit daler mehndi ??? y did they call a pro rss leader lk advani on their stage????what has happened betwwen mr sarna and the rss honouring each other was not planned . the rss was there to welcome the nagar klirtan so how can somebody help it. even if how bad the rss is but if they are respect are guru for that period of time we cant neglect them . u can call the dsgmc is wrong if they specially call rss to honour them .
