  1. Mkhalsa,

The first picture you posted the person as a Farla, Do you understand what a Farla is. I think NO.

You need to be a Akali Nihang, Punj singhs that have a Farla will bless you with a Farla, you  wear the farla all the time. I know you are not part of any Dal or not even a Nihang Singh, what rights have you or your friends got to disrespect the Farla.

You guys call others Nangs, some would call you and your friends Nangs.

If you dont understand the Farla, please listen to Nihang Singh Baba Nihal Singh Ji, Jathedar Taruna Dal

    Dumalla & Farla Maryada

You are the not the first one to lecture him about that. Last time that pic was posted on another thread same reaction came. You didn't happen to be there. Don't automatically assume you are the only where here who knows the maryada of a farla. Most people on this forum including mkhalsa are already aware. The farla you are talking about has a special way of tying it. Ans yes its given by panj singhs. The one in the pic is made to look like it. Its not tied like a proper "Farlay vala dumala". I don't think any rules are broken by tying it once and taking a pic. Its not like the bibi is actually declared herself farladhari nihang singhni and given herself that

    status.

And next time lets try to stick to the topic.

    Bhai Sahib Jee,

thanks for starting this thread but its really hard to learn tabla without a teacher physically present. You'll most likely learn the 'taals' wrong. They are called "TAALS" not raags.

This taal you posted is called Kehrwa Taal. Its in Four beats. It should've been written in this format.

    Dhage Naati Nage Dhina

Notice how I underlined each beat because there are Four beats they have to written in the format so you play each underlined words in one beat. Personally I don't like this taal. It just doesn't sound very pleasent to me. But most raagis and tabla teachers teach this taal first. Anyway Here's the common taal played in AKJ keertans.

    Dhata Ge Tata S*

*S means skip a beat. This

is also another form of Kehrwa so it also has 4 beats. You have to skip the last beat meaning don't play anything. Hope this helps for now. Here's another commonly played kehrwa.

    Guru pyari Sadh sangat ji,

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh

I just wanted to inform everyone the details of the LA samagam. The dates are Wed, Nov 24 to Sun, Nov 28. As mentioned in a previous post, the living arrangements have been secured at a motel near the Alhambra gurdwara sahib, and we have arranged for more rooms than last year, so we will not have problems accomodating everyone. (for reasons regarding the reasons for the motel, please refer to the eralier post). In order to have a smooth check-in procedure and to ensure that we will be able to accomodate everyone, we request that everyone who is coming to let us know when you will be arriving and how many people in your party, and how many rooms you will need. Everyone who needs a room is requested to do so. In addition, we encourage everyone to stay at the motel, so we can all participate in amrit-vela program. I know it will probably be more convenient for people to stay at someone's house, but I hope that people will put personal convenience behind the laha of the sangat and amrit-vela. Guru sahib made us hardy, and I hope that any inconvenience will not dissuade people from attending the program. let us join together in the fellowship of our gursikh brothers and sisters for a time of reflection and self-assessment.

A brief synopsis of the program is as follows:

Wednesday, Nov 24: 6-9 pm: Gurdwara Sahib, Buena park

    All the Aasa-kee-vaar

programs for Thusday, Friday and Saturday will be at gurdwara sahib, Alhambra, from 7-11 Am or so.

All the amrit-vela programs will also be at Alhambra gurdwara.

Thursday evening program at Reseda Gurdwara.

Friday evening program at Riverside gurdwara.

Saturday evening program (Rainn Sabaee) at lankershim Gurdwara.

We will be posting the names of the contact personnel's email and phone numbers later.
