  3. Baba Deep Singh did get married as per request of his parents. Perhaps Baba jee didn't mind not getting married (God knows) however respecting his parents wishes he returned home from Anandpur Sahib, taking leave from Guru Sahib.

Baba Deep Singh jee then went to his home village visit his parents and also got married. During this time, the Anandpur Sahib evacuation happened. When Baba Jee recieved the news he was saddened. Later he recieved a message from messenger of Guru Sahib that the Guru has safely arived at Damdama Sahib and that Baba jee is required. So Baba Deep Singh jee left his village, leaving his elderly parents and wife and went to see Guru Sahib. There Baba jee stayed and helped to scribe the Guru Granth Sahib ji's Birs.

    Bhul chuk maaf.

In regards to Gurbani and Householder Jeevan:

    (ang 1169)

We shouldn't be in "DUALITY" (here and there/ sitting on the fence). Either live in the world like Grist family person and do Bhagti or leave the world completely... don't put one foot there and the other elsewhere.

Bhul chuk maaf if i have said anything wrong or incorrect.

  4. In regards to Heaven & Earth programme on BBC 1...

unless they are doing something "illegal" the authorities cannot do anything, despite how manmat they are...

if there was a copyright on Gurbani, then I think Radha Soamis a long time ago would be put away in prison. Waheguru. They use GURbani (of Guru Nanak jee) then claims HE IS THE GURU.. if he uses Guru Nanak's Bani to enlighten people, then how can he call himself the ENLIGHTENER??? Gurbani is the enlightener!!

    Rab Rakha

  5. http://www.santmat.net/english/library/index.htm

Weird why Sant Mat has Guru Granth Sahib Jee as a Wallpaper background on the above page on their website.

It seems the "Master" of the SantMat is like a Granthi Singh or Giani jee you would find in a Gurdwara doing Katha in the Gurdwara of Gurbani. However, unlike the Giani jee and Granthi Singh, the Radha Soami person claims himself as "GURU" (the Englightener... However they use Gurbani??? :) So isn't Gurbani the ENLIGHTENER? blush.gif )

    From http://www.santmat.net/english/santmat/santmat8.htm:

Sant Thakar Singh himself tells us

From childhood on I had an inclination to read the scriptures.

I had gone through almost all the scriptures of Indian mythology and the Bible, but I was especially attracted to the Adi Granth, because it was written by the Masters themselves who were working at the level of soul, not at the level of body, mind and intellect.

In all those scriptures it was very clearly written that we are souls and belong to God, that there is no other place for us, that our true home is with God.

But before initiation I could not understand the true meaning of these scriptures, nor did their meaning enter my heart.

After being initiated by my Master, when he had awakened me as soul, I was able to really understand the scriptures because real knowledge and wisdom come directly from God to the soul.

Soul is receptive to God. After initiation God can use your soul to teach your heart, to teach you, to explain to you and to bless you without any interference or confusion from intellect and mind.

  6. The shabad is refering to Baba Aadam (i.e Adam) is Bhagat Kabeer Jee's response to a Muslim Maulvi (priest) who is trying to persuade him to become a Muslim through teasing him with the thought of going to Heaven (if he becomes Muslim). Here's the full shabad:

(O person!) The God (you say) has 7,000 commanders, and (you say) has one hundred and twenty-five thousand prophets serving Him; He is said to have 88,000,000 old sheikhs (living at His door), and who (you say) has 56,000,000 attendants (up to His court). ||1||

I am meek and poor - what chance do I have of being heard there? (Then you say that) His Court is so far away (in the seventh sky); (I am a poor Weaver,) who will find God’s House? ||1||Pause||

(The people who talk of Heaven also say that) He has 33,000,000 angels as His servants (how will they even listen to me?). His beings (separated and lost) wander insanely through 8.4 million incarnations. (O person! You say that God kept ‘Adam’ (the supposed father of Mankind) in Paradise, but according to you) when God (according to His Will) glanced his eye of Grace on Adam, then that Adam only enjoyed Paradise for a short while (because he was removed from there, so if people like Adam have been removed, then tell me, how long will someone like me be allowed to last there?) ||2||

Those who have forsaken (the path shown in) their religious-books and turn to follow bad practices, their hearts are disturbed (with wickedness and corruption), and their faces turn pale (i.e. he or she get pushed away from Waheguru’s Door). A person receives the fruits of one’s own action, but (in ignorance) one blames others, and gets angry with the world. ||3||

Here the conversation is with a Muslim, for this reason the word used for religious-books is “Kateb”.

(O my Lord! I have no need for any Paradise or Heaven) You are my Great Giver, I am forever a beggar at Your Door (whatever You are giving me that is fine). If I were to deny You, then I would be a wretched sinner. Slave Kabeer has entered Your Shelter. O Merciful Lord Waheguru! Keep me near You Feet – that is heaven for me. ||4||7||15||

(English translation based on Professor Sahib Singh's 'Guru Granth Darpan')

  7. Benefits of a blog??

Well for me "personally" I made a blog because everytime I go back home every wants to hear what I got up to, new stories, who I met, what I did etc .... it sometimes feel Katha on my week's experiences. lol.

Then sometimes I end up repeating the same stories and experiences to my friends etc... so I thought why not blog it, and save me time going mad repeating stuff. :)

Also it allows me to share thoughts, vichaar and reflection on life in perspective of a student of Guru Sahib. So its bit like an online diary and logbook.

Erm.. what else? Well, reading other people's blogs... there are some really nice inspiring blogs... people have mentioned most of them in the above posts.

    Chalo, thats daas' vichaar.

    bhul chuk maaf.

  9. Before any defends TILAKS... my benti would be please research the origin, meaning and significance of wearing the Tilak (i.e. red mark painting on the centre of the forehead).

If those people do that research, then they will release it has nothing to do with GURMAT (i.e. Guru Sahibs).

    Sikhi believes:

Pooja Akaal Kee - Worshipping the Eternal God

Parchaa Shabad Ka - Understanding Gurbani

Deedar Khalse Da - Appreciating the Sikh Rehat

Sikhs DO NOT believe in "DEVTE DEVTIAN" and nor do Sikhs believe in rituals and practices associated to the reverence and worship of these mortals (who are claimed to be God).

    Bhul chuk maaf.

  10. Gurmukho

    1. Why Tilak was used for the appointment of Sikh Gurus?

    2. If having Tilak makes Sikhs a non Sikh who are being shown in the picture then what is your explanation to ceremony, in which Baba Budha Ji, first Granthi of Sikhism and great personality appointing Sikh Gurus by putting "Tilak" on their forehead.

NO GURU SAHIBAAN PUT A TILAK (i.e. A RED FRONTAL MARK ON THEIR FOREHEAD!)

To understand Gurbani, to understand Bhai Gurdaas Jee and to understand Sikh culture, one has to ALSO understand tools of poetry and language, i.e. metaphors, similies, grammar etc... furthermore one has to understand Indian culture and cultural phrases.

When Queen Elizabeth II was crowned Queen of England in 1953, the Indian Newspapers gave the news stated, "Queen Elizabeth de Raaj "Tilak" Lagaaieaa Gaya Hai." Ask people who are old enough and remember reading about the Queen's Coronation in India.

Now, did QUEEN ELIZABETH put a TILAK on her FOREHEAD??? "HAS TO BE BECAUSE IT SAID SO IN THE NEWSPAPER."

Nehee, GUru Piyaari'o! Its a language phrase, which means "being coronated" "being giving the seat of authority".

Wait til Charles or William becomes King, what will the Panjabi newspapers say? "Charles te Raj Tilak Lagaaeiaa gayiaa" -- again doesn't mean that Charles is sitting there with a huge big Red spot on his forehead... its AN EXPRESSION!!

WHY ARE WE IN dubdw, DOUBT, OVER THINGS LIKE THIS??? HAVE WE EVEN BOTHERED TO ASK OUR HAAZAR NAAZAR GURU SAHIB (Eternal Guru) WHAT HIS STAND ON THE TILAK IS????

mwQy iqlku hiQ mwlw bwnW ]

    logn rwmu iKlaunw jwnW ]1]

Translation:- "People apply "tilaks" (ceremonial marks to their foreheads), in their hands they hold "malas" (prayer beads), and they present themselves in a religious appearance (thinking that they have become Waheguru's Bhagats). People have understood Waheguru to be a play-thing (meaning, an innocent child who can be fooled by these superficial things). ||1||

(Bhairo Bhagat Kabeer Jee, Ang 1158)

iqlku illwit jwxY pRBu eyku ]

Translation: "Let the knowledge of the One God be the "Tilak", ceremonial mark, on your forehead.

    (Aasa M:1, Ang 355)

pUjw vrq iqlk iesnwnw puMn dwn bhu dYn ]

khUM n BIjY sMjm suAwmI bolih mITy bYn ]1]

Translation:- "Worship, fasting, "Tilaks" (ceremonial marks) on one's forehead, cleansing baths, generous donations to charities and self-mortification - the Lord Master is not pleased with any of these rituals, no matter how sweetly one may speak. ||1||

    (Dhanaasree M:5, Ang 674)

    iknhI GUGr inriq krweI ]

iknhU vrq nym mwlw pweI ]

iknhI iqlku gopI cMdn lwieAw ]

moih dIn hir hir hir iDAwieAw ]5]

Translation:- "Some dance, wearing ankle bells. Some fast and take vows, and wear malas. Some apply ceremonial tilak marks to their foreheads. I am meek; I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||5||"

    (Raamkalee M:5, Ang 912)

Therefore, using knowledge of GURBANI, LANGUAGE TOOLS, and knowledge of INDIAN CULTURE... one can deduce that the Guru Sahibs were NOT adorned with TILAKs when recieving GURUSHIP.

Baba Sundar jee writes in Gurbani:

rwmdws soFI iqlku dIAw gur sbdu scu nIswxu jIau ]5]

Translation:- The Guru then blessed the Sodhi Ram Das with the ceremonial tilak mark, the insignia of the True Word of the Shabad. ||5||

The Tilak of the Shabad was passed on giving Guruship to the next Saroop of Guru Sahib, not a RED DOT PAINTED ACROSS THE FOREHEAD.

    Let's read Gurbani

    Let's contemplate Gurbani

Let's unite as ONE under Gurbani

    Bhul chuk maaf

  11. Rahaao is central idea of the shabad - hence the focus of the shabad.

In singing Keertan, the RAHAAO line should be the CHORUS (main verse)

The rest of the Shabad works around, explains or divulges into the Rahaao line. Knowing the Rahaao line in reading Paath or singing the Rahaao as the Chorus line in Shabad Keertan helps to keep the CONTEXT of the shabad.

Whether you know raag keertan or not, doesn't take much effort to sing Rahaao line as the Chorus rather than random lines in shabad.

    Bhul chuk maaf.
