  1. Thank you, Bhai. This was all very good of you to say, and some of it was good for me to be reminded of. God is God. It is the human limitations, not God, making all the differences and confusions. My family is Rajput, so Singh. And so since I am Hindu given names are Hindu. Thank you again. Lots of good things to think about. You going to the parade Saturday (in NY)? See you there if you do. Funny story: All these Spanish people thinking I'm Puero Rican are calling me "Papi" which in their language is like "bapu", not realizing in our language it means big time wrongdoer. I already have enough Hindu guilt! Need to find alternative for the bandana! Regards, Hanuman
  2. I am American Panjabi (in NYC), not Sikh but Hindu, but as typical Panjabi Hindu very influenced by Sikhi. I started covering my head in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji then was feeling like if I should cover it there then I should coverr it in front of God always, so I started covering it at mandir. Then I started thinking God is everywhere, so I should be covering my head all the time. I am very serious about this. I was weariing a baseball hat, but that is ghetto in gurudwara and mandir, and in a lot of places they make you take it off because here men aren't supposed to be wearing hats. So I started wearing a triangle piece of cloth wrapped around my head and tied in the back. Well, that looks totally ghetto. Now all these Spanish people are speaking to me in Spanish, stopping me in the street because they think I'm Puerto Rican. Whatever. But the point is, there are some places where a nicer look might be necessary. I am not working now, but I doubt I can get away with a doo-rag for "religious observance". I can't wear paag, because it would be disrespectful because it would be misleading. I can't wear patka because I don't have enough hair and it would also be misleading. There is no way in nark I'm going to put on a kufi, so what alternatives do I have? Do you have any suggestions for something nice looking, simple, respectful, could maybe wear at job? Thank you very much for your help. Hanuman Durga Singh
