Watching Sikh Channel I saw Devinder Singh Sodhi doing a little speach and he talks about his home in India and how that area has a religious history and has some things which belonged to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and one of those things he said was his "sir di topi" (a head hat), can somebody clarify what that's all about??? Thanks

Gurfateh veer,
You miss heard slightly he was refering to a seli topi which is a loosely woven "hat", which was worn by the first 5 gurus and was an important part of early "sikhism" be it without the offical name since this was established by the 10th guru. Dastars 1st started to be worn after the 6th guru command that turbans should be worn, and i believe after which baba buddha ji started to wear a dastar instead of a topi.
I am reasonabily sure of this infomation after conducting some research however it I can not be sure 100%.
Hope it helped

Fateh ji,
Maya is not intrinsically "bad" but becoming attached to it is, the whole test of maya in kalyug is that can we live through this age of darkness with maya and still realise waheguru,

Fateh Ji,
A kara with any gurbani engraving needs to be treated with satkaar (Respect) as it is gurbani, so yeah it needs to be kept very clean etc...

This music is very soothing & relaxing. It can be immensley helpful in preparing the the mind for Meditation (Naam Simran).
I hope you will enjoy.
Fateh ji,
This is also quite relaxing, its the mantra "ajay alai" from jaap sahib.

I came across a discussion about whether or not a Kirpaan is allowed to be worn legally (which it is). I read most of the first page of the discussion on a police forum and it was actually kind of interesting so i decided to post it here >>> http://www.policespe...opic=68039&st=0
Someone even says they prefer it to be visible because they basically feel safer

Gurfateh,
In the Uk these day you have to be careful when wearing the kirpan openly as many private premisies such as cinemas can actually reject entry although wearing a kirpan is publically allowed. The law isnt quite clear in such areas and needs clarification.

"Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of that gursikh who himself chants the naam and inspires others to chant it".
