Lol - you Leicester crew guys ;-)

At least it's in good hands. Merci.

  2. Some wkd fotos Amorphous Singh

I was kinda occupied elsewhere all day - all credit goes to my member of my family - who I dumped my camera on ;-)

Bhai Roop Singh was by far, the highlight for me. He done his speech without "reading" from a script. It was bold. It was strong. It was powerful. He kicked off the event with a  buzz.

Totally. He turned up at the control room and we ripped a little piece of paper of my pad and he jotted down a few (very few) notes and with that he went out a few minutes later and totally lifted everyone with a most amazing speech. I feel so humbled to have seen such a professional in action. He really was the out of this world.

  3. To everyone who turned up - many many thanks.

You all helped make today a great success.

To all those who worked like crazy to get this organised - you're the best.

So who cares if it rained a lot - we still managed to light the candles!

The Sikh Spirit shall never die.

  4. Also look out for the buckets marked 'Campaign 84 Fund - Sikhs in the Square' in the Square.

This could be start of something big and different . . . .

You mean these buckets by any chance .....

You know - I really do have more important things to do than post pictures of balti's ;-)

(So erm - why aint I doing them!!)

Ooh - black and grey ones - what can it all mean ;-)

  5. If the President continues to be stubborn then we have decided that as well as the Gurdwara's 1 coach we will bring 2 or 3 coaches ourselves and pay the costs of this (£450 per coach) so that EVERYONE that wishes to go CAN definetly attend the event

    131232[/snapback]

Thats the spirit - if everyone on the coach who can afford it chips in a few quids that should help cover some costs.

Lets show these useless committee members that they will not dampen our spirits and that we will continue in Chardi Kala.

  6. Be there and be a Square :-)

Excellent T-shirt design ppl - you'll love it. Please note that to help with the costs of organising this event that T-shirts will be for a 5 pound donation - sorry as much as we'd like to we can't afford to give them away.

    See you all tmmr.

  7. Neways, out of interest, how much can it possibly cost to do a coach to london roughly?? I've always wondered why the Gurdwara commitee is so fussy about! Afterall, it is at these kind of events where the Gurdwara's should spend some of the sangats money!!! Yeh - does ne1 know the cost per coach roughly, jus wondering lol

    WJKK WJKF!!!

This is an interesting question. For Gravesend the cost has been estimated at £700 for 2 coaches. So I guess further away like Brum, Leeds etc will be more. I'm not sure if the Gravesend quote is top-end or low-end so hard to make any real judgements.

However a lot of this has to do with committee's not seeing the wood for the trees. They have their proverbials so far up their proverbial (excuse my language) that they see no merit in supporting such valuable programmes. There are honourable exceptions mind you.

However, we will all need to try and tackle this for the future and one way to do that is to convince them of how vital such programmes are; of how it gets youngsters involved and to convince them that getting youngsters involved is essential. If we can show them how sucessful such events are then that will also help. That might help move the mountain just a little. Heck they might even come along themselves if they think cameras are going to be present!

Actually that's it - just tell them that they will be on camera and the Tinter Net and they will turn up!

  8. I hear the choccie biccie sevadhaar is right on with his seva! WICKED WORK!

    Choccie biccie sevadhaar - ROFL

Where are these fabled home made choc. muffins is what the crew want to know!

Roll on Sunday. With Guru's Kirpa it's going to be one hell of a day.

Please please please continue to push, hound, cajole, harass, a.n.other variation on persuasion; people to turn up.

Thats all you got to do - turn up and bring others with you - not too much to ask!

  9. Coaches leaves Gravesend (from Windmill Street - near Clarence Place) at 12noon.

Please arrive in good time - not Punjabi time. Get there on time ppl.

Event was announced last night and displayed on projector screen as well; during last nights programme.

If there's no spaces on the coaches (which is a positive thing IMHO) then jump on the train - direct to Charing Cross (approx 50 mins) - Traf. Sq is a 2 minute walk as you head left from the main entrance. Or just follow your ears!

Or drive - no congestion charge and free parking on Sundays.

Get there somehow! It's the least you can do.

  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

    Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I just wanted to take this opportunity to offer a big thanks to all the fantastic sevadaars who have been beavering away with the organisation of this event. They have been working away tirelessly (ok they are tired but you know what I mean ;-) for the last few weeks to get ready for Sunday. This work is still ongoing.

I won't name them but they know who they are. Excellent work all round. It's been one heck of an organisational challenge and they have done it with humour and humility and dedication.

This event is the first of it's particular kind; the least most of the UK sangat can do is to turn up and show their support for this important anniversary. The weather is going to be good too that day so no excuses!

    See you all there

    Oh and watch the trailer!
