  1. We forget that we don't have to go to a Gurudwara Sahib that has some great history to do pilgrimage. When we have our True Guru with us at every moment why are we running around? The time we waste trying to visit all these holy places that are becoming more and more of tourist attractions, we could be spending with our Guru and deepening our relationship with him.

I know you're probably thinking, there is nothing wrong with visiting Gurudwaras with great history. I agree there is not but why do we just visit Gurudwaras like Bangla Sahib Ji which spend millions of dollars to attract us? Why don't we visit the Gurudwaras that have a great history but are not as well funded or well kept? Why aren't the Gurudwara Sahib Ji's that receive a lot of contributions helping to restore Gurudwara Sahib Ji's that aren't being kept very well?

Why? Because Gurudwara Sahib Ji's are becoming a place of business for many corrupt leaders. The leaders aren't to blame, we sleeping Sikhs are. The moment we wake up and find our pilgrimage in the words of our Guru instead of a physical location, we will become better Sikhs. All this corruption will come to an end when we Sikhs stop feeding the fire of evil. The corruption is evil, the seva is not.

Anything done by any human to honor and serve the divinity in another and without any desire for self-benefit is seva. That means there is nothing intrinsically wrong with making a Gurudwara Sahib out of gold. It is up to us if we want to donate for that cause. And if we really don't want this, we can donate to better charities and actually make a difference in people's lives by feeding them, healing them and inspiring them.

Why do we complain about the people that are behind these sort of projects, but then never do anything better ourselves?

Let us each set an example. Let each of us get involved and do something other than spend our energy complaining when someone else does something. Also if we really don't wish for this, then let us start going to Gurudwaras that listen to their Sangat and do the right thing. Even if this Gurudwara Sahib gets covered in gold and becomes a huge tourist attraction, do you think that the offerings made by the tourists will equal that of we Sikhs? Never!

So let us stop worrying about what others do or do not do. Let each of us look into our own heart and do what we know is right. Our Guru is everywhere! Not just in the Gurdwaras.

I say let them cover Bangla Sahib Ji in gold and let us all wake up and stop making a show of running to different Gurudwara Sahibs and instead let us offer ourselves, and all the earthly blessings Waheguru has bestowed upon us, to our True Guru, because that is our shelter and our salvation.

  2. No no my dear....:stupidinternet:

Lets remember a sikh is a student of the Guru- once they stop willing to learn and comply to the teachings they're no longer a student(like being expelled or dropping out)

A sikh is not a Sikh by name, but by deed, hence all the bottle poppers are not Sikh...

most of the students do not want to learn - its only a hand full people that do honestly follow.. I guess you cant force one to follow but unfortunatly the go down the wrong path ... x

  3. I believe that the original poster has some valid points. I dont think that we should forget 1984, however I do believe that we should no longer let our agenda be dictated by 1984. The carnage of 1984 was the strategy of the Indian Govenment to derail the efforts of the Anandpur Sahib Resolution and Dharam Yudh Morcha whereby Sikhs were gaining power by campaigning for better rights and more autonomy. However, the instigation of violence by the Government gave birth to the Khalistan movement, the kharkoos and the on going cycle of violence in Punjab which did nothing to further the Sikh cause. In fact it probably set us back 20 years in reverse gear.

Currently, there is no threat of violence, so this is our opportunity to regroup and reevaluate where the panth should be heading and what the new agenda should be, given our current conditions, and not the conditions of 25 years ago. We seem to be like fish swimming around in circles in a goldfish bowl, giving the same speeches, talking about grand and great things like Khalistan, when we cant even protect basic tenets like allowing kids to go to school with a kirpan. How exactly do we propose to start a revolution in a country where most of the populace are more interested in emigrating to canada or their next fix of smack, let alone growing their hair, which is probably the last thing on the list.

Khalistan is a distant dream. We should not forget 84, but we need to shift gears, come back to reality and concentrate purely on the issues that affect us today. Too many Sikh youth of today fantasize about Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and about being a kharkoo. He was quite good for his time, but a hardline no nonsense approach would not work in todays day and age.

Conclusion: Never forget the past. But move on, live in the present and prepare for the future.

thankyou , some of the comments on here calling me names is quiet uncalled for .. Baandri one said- such respect for women .....:monkeyjuggle:

  5. This whole Jatt thing is getting out of hand on this site. I think every week I must see a post about Jatts this, Jatts that.

Firstly Jatts are NOT a caste!!! They are an ethnic group consisting of clans based on common ancestry through endogamy, ever heard of a Jathera?

The obsession with Jatts is unreal, I see small-time insecure folk who make statements like "Why don't Jatts marry non-Jatts" etc, damn, do you know how low you look by making such statements! How the hell is the marriage customs of Jatts anybody else's business, really it sounds like "I'm just a dark, skinny, flat nosed guy who needs an injection of some superior Jatt genes". Leave it out, be content with whatever God has made you.

but its true though isent it ?

Yeh I would say I would usually be good at spotting a fake profile, and yours did look extremely dodgy,

I only checked your profile out because you added me as a friend and I I have only just joined this forum and you're my only friend it seemed like a good idea. However if I am truly mistaken in this case I apologise for jumping to conclusions, a sikh should know better than to do that. I've also just made a profile aswell so I'm not trying to bully anyone new. I've cleared my previous comment, I am not one who likes to indulge in slander.

ITS OK NO NEED TO APOLIGISE XX

  9. How embarrasing was this ??:

One of the more interesting parts of the recent documentary on Sikh extremism was the recording of a fight that took place over control of Southall Gurdwara (the biggest outside India) between its existing management and an outside group calling themselves ‘Lion Group’. The fight basically illustrates the terrible state of Sikh affairs in the UK, an issue most Sikhs keep ignoring.

Anyway, the Southall-based paper Des Pardes published a write-up of what happened after, with such bias its downright hilarious. But its worth reading anyway. I publish the full article here.

  10. 1978, 1984 and everything after aside, Sikhs to this day are not recognised as a religion under the Indian constitution. Since partion, despite constituting around 2 percent of the Indian population, Sikhs are subject of at least 60% of Indian films and serials where they are largely ridiculed and vilified. Furthermore, as recent events show, there is a seperate law for Sikhs as opposed to the majority community. Hundreds of those responsible for the Sikh genocide are alive and kicking therfore the only way to cure the problem or prevent a repeat is to teach our youth and future generations of all aspects of their history including present times.

I totally disagree with what you have said .. its the wrong path to lead and will only create resentment in the long run .. :monkeyjuggle:

  11. Things can not always be black and white. There is not always the blue pill and the red pill. What I am trying to say is, why choose one or the other. You are saying let 1984 go, I am saying remember it more so that it doesn't get repeated again. Remembrance is not the same as hatred. Practically all my friends are Hindus, so should I blame them for 1984?

People who say forget 1984 have vested interest. It is usually a politician sucking up to non-Sikhs. Every Sikh adult and child should know about 1984 and all Sikh sacrifices. Majority of us have not done anything for 1984 victims and their families and probably wont ever do anything either. Therefore the decision to forget can never be ours.

But do we really need to let our children - youngsters live the memorie so it eventually turns to hatred , now im not saying that all will do this but keep reminding of this instead why dont we focus on what is going on now with tehe musla but our energies into that .. thats all im saying .. we will all die one day but do we have to tell the innocent everything? i think not ....

os - i wish i was a politician - could do with the cash ....x

  12. Not really a valid comparison considering brit asia is a music channel and islamic channels are religious channels. It's not just Sikhs on brit asia and the like but all others inlcunding muslims. How about comparing the Sikh Channels to the Islamic Channels- What you see then is liberated, equal and empowered females as opposed to oppressed women banned from self expression.

Its a valid point how many religous channels have islamist fund got on tv - im sure you would agree that mots of our channels are not very religous - i think maybe 1 or 2 but mainly juts young kuree's dancing with a group of young lads with alchohol....

  13. Jews have actually achieved justice yet the world is always reminded of the holocaust, through documentaries, movies books, memorials etc, and rightly so. Not a single person has yet been prosecuted for dehli november 1984 yet you are saying we should forget about it before we have even resolved the issue. The same injustices that took place then continue to this day. You can't forget about something that isn't even over.

The people that commited those awaful crimes are probably long gone now - would you feel better if we to take revenge on their 2nd maybe even 3rd generation that have no wrong doing and are totally innocent - im sure they would feel the same as we do??

  14. thats fine as you can see im fairly new to the forum and if you look i have requested mainly female , i havent really looked into whether they have made any posts but they all have accepted .. Are you saying that i can only request people who have made comments ?? and why are you checking out my profile I havent done or said anything wrong or are you juts tryiing use bully bot tactics on teh new girl?? you may be outspoken but at teh same time you are being quite rude towards me ..... and i wouldent even know what fake profile would look like i guess you do ......:(:khalsa:

  15. That's actually one of the reasons I'm confused and surprised as to why our Gurus weren't harsher on Islam. I'm aware our Gurus had unlimited compassion and they also had much affection for Muslim bhagats such as Bhagat Kabir and Bhagat Farid, etc, but surely they must have known the history of Islam and some of the truly horrendous things it endorses and encourages.

yeah maybe they should have but i guess they were fooled by the slyness of the islams .. i mean even the edl are awre of the threat they are casuing teh world .. just be very weary of these buggers .. never trust these gutter dogs ....
