  1. WJKWJF. I have just read this webpage, shown below and I say enough is enough. http://www.courierpostonline.com/news/sout...ey/m042805h.htm I mean, why do we let such DISEASE, ANGER, HATRED find its way into Sikhi, so pure, so beautiful created by our GuruJIs. You can see that this is yet ANOTHER example of Gurdwara Phardans letting down sikhi. All they care about is MONEY and POWER. Remeber one thing, GURUJI said, SIKHS HAVE NO RELIGIOUS LEADERS, EVERYONE IS EQUAL, the GURDWARA IS WHERE GURUJI RESIDES AND IS OF THE SADH SANGAT. Then why the heck do we let these Phardhans continue to let down Sikhi. I am not just saying this for the sake of it, Look at Mosques and other religous places. I am using Mosques in parituclar as an example, because I have always seen how they set up Quran lessons, discussions, etc. Why do we, SIKHS not do such things. End of the day, we're all here to do one thing, GAIN ATTACHMENT TO GOD. How do we do this, by following Guru Granth as our Guide and teacher to get to God. But how will the new generation do this if they lack firm knowledge of Sikhi, and unserstanding of Gurbani. Most Gurdwara Phardhans just have one thing in mind, GET POWER and CONTROL. These Phardhans fill up their pockets with Money. But do they ever, FOR EVEN A SECOND think about the future. They've fallen deep into the Hands of MAYA, and belive you me, once you've been caught its real hard to get out (not saying I havn't, in fact we all have fallen in the Grip of Maya). Some of the Phardans do not care about the Youth. They spend millions making Gurdwaras, but they cant spend a few extra on setting up Sikhia Classes, teaching Bani after school, setting up Punjabi Schools to teach Punjabi in a modern and effective way. Most of these Phardhans are just make me sick to the core. I remeber when I was at my Local gurdwara, a poor person came to the Gurdwara. THEY DIDN'T EVEN LET HIM IN, THEY GAVE HIM LANGAR IN A SEPERATE DISPOSABLE PLATE AND MADE HIM EAT IT OUTSIDE. I was a kid at the time, I never understood what I was witnessing. But these Phardhan memebers made him stay outside. ASK YOUSELVES, DIDN'T GURUJI ALLOW ALL, RICH/POOR, HIGHCASTE/LOWCASTE sit all in one place and eat? AGAIN ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF SIKHI BEING LET DOWN BY GREED AND ANGER AND WRONG BELIFS BY OUR SO CALLED LEADERS. BUT HOW DO WE STOP THIS. The time has come, its time to EVOLVE or DIE. You know how it goes for evolution. If you do not adapt for the future and make changes that will be beneficial, then You Will NOT survive. SIKHI will not survive, UNLESS we change our ways. UNLESS we start to stamp out such Anomalies in Sikhi. UNLESS we promote SIKHI in a modern fashion. By saying modern, I mean making Bani available in English and other understandable languages to allow Sikhs to learn what the aim of life is, and many other factors which could be promoted (I wish to hear your opinions on this) The time has come for change, I for one am fed up with this constant letting down of Sikhi, and I hope you my brothers and Sisters share my Ideas. JUST REMEBER ONE THING, Moguls have tried to destory Sikhi, British Have, Indian Authorities and Hindu Bhramins and FAKE SAINTS/GURUS have. BUT THEY HAVE FAILED. BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW IT WILL END, BY SUCICIDE. If we dont change our ways and let such plagues and wasteful crap move into Sikhi, we will not be able to move on and thrive. Sorry for any offence caused, and sorry especially to any TRUE GURDWARAs who work hard for the betterment of Sikhi if i have said anything bad about them. WJK WJF Gurdip Singh Chana
  2. WJKWJF, I am in agreement with veerji that Rehat is unfortunantly just a list of rituals, which are of no good use i feel. I feel that certain things in the rehat contradict what Guru Ji says. I mean in the rehat is says that one who wears a cap becomes a lepper. Ask you self, so do all them people that wear caps become leppers. It's alright to listen to Sants, but equally if we do not know certain things we have one and only one person to turn to. That is GURU GRANTH, our GURU if some people have forgotten. In order to find out something its best to do it yourself. Guru Granth is available in loads of languages, and they all provide information on certain topics. Its not like we have to turn to Gianis and Sants to let us know what certain things in the Granth say, WE CAN DO IT OURSELVES. Just remember, AAP HATHI AAPHI AAP KHARAJ SAVARHI (With Your Own Hands, Deal With Your Own Matters). I mean, when we say that comb your hair twice in a day, dont change khachera by taking it all off, have a bath with cold water; what does that actually achieve. Kabeer Ji says that the body at the end of the day just burns away and theres nothing left of it. So how does such rituals gain attachment to God. If we as GurSikhs just keep on thinking OH WE GOTA TAKE ANMRIT, OH WE GOTA COMB OUT HAIR TWICE, etc and actually through our rituals forget GOD, then what are we doing, OUR TIME IS BEING WASTED. Guru Gobind Singh had created Rehat, but from what i've read he has not actually written it down. Its only been passed down orally, which means that it becomes more like chinese whispers. One person's understanding and view of the rehat is passed onto another, and in turn through time the meaning changes. So then ask you self, what is the use of following something so inaccurate. Follow Guru Granth because through time not even a single word has been changed, and the only True Guide to your lives is the Guru Granth, NOT A THIRD PERSON. Just go back to basics, Guru Ji's all lived to help guide us on the true path to God. If we start to wander away from the basics of Sikhi, in effect we are wandering away from Guru Ji. All I got to say is our aim of life is to gain attachment with God, by meditating, speaking and loving God. Without remembering God, without thinking of God, without loving God, what use is life. If we spend our lives just following wasteful rituals how do we gain attachment with God. Sorry if I have said anything wrong, but i'm a Sikh, I learn from mistakes, so I ask for forgiveness from you my brothers & sisters and from Guru Ji.
  3. WJKWJF I've just spend some moments reading Kabeer Ji's Bani. A lot of the time it says KABEER and then another verse. I wanted to know, is this meant to be GOD speaking to Kabeer or Kabeer speaking to his mind/himself. I just wanted to know Thanks Gurdip Singh Chana WJKWJF :e:
  4. Wahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahiguru Ji Ki Fateh Well I am just here generally to find out the views and opinions of my fellow brothers and sisters on whether we should consider reading english (or what ever language one best understands) gurbani. A lot of the time I tend to pick out phrases of gurbani and have a faint or near accurate understanding of the meaning of that verse. Also a lot of the time I tend to read gurbani and not understand a single word of it. This effectively causes me to loose focus on what I am reading. Then I always ask my self that "PAATH" is a prayer to GOD. Then if I am praying to GOD whilst thinking of other things, then this must mean my prayers are gone to waste. I am not saying this, Guru Nanak said this same thing to a Muslim who was conducting the Namaz. Whilst conducting the Namaz Guruji said that your prayer "was of no good" as you was thinking of your Animals (I ask for great forgiveness as I can't completely recall what exactly happened). Guruji had advised him that when praying to Allah (GOD), you must focus on HIM and nothing more. I totally understand what this means, this means when we pray we must focus on GOD. Maybe its just me or this same issue of finding it hard to focus on GOD when praying may be the same with a lot of my fellow brothers and sisters. Therefore I believe that reading Bani in an understandable language is an effective way of gaining the true essence of knowledge given to us by our Gurus. I have my own copy of an English Translated Guru Granth, and I can honestly say that I have learnt more from the english Granth than the Gurmukhi one. I understand to a lot of people understanding Gurmukhi is great importance, but I feel a lot of the youth dont understand the total meaning of the Guru Granth or other paath. Also when ever I read the Guru Granth in english I tend to focus on the gurbani much better than the original text. I feel that the need to restrict the Guru's word only to Gurmukhi is not a wise decision. Sure there are pros and cons as to translating the Guru Granth, but at the end of the day we are Sikhs. Sikh means "student" or "learn"; to learn something as a student of the Guru. Therefore why not learn how to live, learn about God, learn about Life by reading the Guru Granth in english, because I have learnt a lot more by reading the Translated version of the Guru Granth. There is one other thing that also seems to be of matter to me, and that is when we read the 5 Banis, most of these Banis contain knowledge to us, to our mind. When we read Bani its really a message to us. There are certain verses in the Granth that are "aimed" at God, in terms of there are only certain verses that praise God and others that provide knowledge to us. Therefore why do we read paath and go that is prayer to God, when it really isnt. Only parts of it are. For example majority of Chapui Sahib is prayer to God, and other parts of it isn't. I ask for forgiveness if I am wrong about this, but I see that most of the Paaths we do are just knowledge to us, and that prayer to God should be done through Nam Simran, and not simply reading Gurbani. Please I ask for forgiveness to you and to God if I have mentioned anything wrong, but I would really like it if you could take out a few minutes and give feed back to this matter. :e: Gurdip Singh Chana :T:
