  1. I'm more of a runner and rugby/soccer player. I don't think sports could have stunted it.
  2. My parents have been lecturing me a lot lately on my height, I don't really mind my height (I turn 16 in 3 months and I'm 5 foot 8 and male). I think they're concerned because my brother's 12 and almost my height, and I'm also the shortest in my family. Is there anything I can do?
  3. A lot of people consider it a ritual that serves no purpose, so then why do we do it? Please give your opinion. And if anyone finds this question offensive or rude, I'd like to apologize in advance. (I'm 15 years old and I'm deeply sorry if I've made a mistake) WJKK WJKF
  4. If so how? ..... How do you personally react around people who dress a bit lazy (e.g. sweat pants, patka) compared to someone dressed a bit more professionally (e.g. suit, tie, damalla)?
  5. WJKK WJKF Are they allowed/not allowed, I've heard different things from different people. I'm just curious and wanted to know what the Sangat on Sikh Sangat thinks about them. (I'm talking about nose and ear piercings). WJKK WJKF
  6. There's a new twitter page and website that started up a few days ago called @patkaspotting it's made to shame people who were patka's. The person who started this page said their intention is to promote people to wear dastaars instead of patka's. In my opinion I think this is very wrong and it can even be considered as cyber bullying because the people on this page don't give permission for their pictures to be used (a lot of them don't even know their picture is used). Does anyone else think this isn't right? The website is http://patkaspotting.com
  7. I live in Canada and I'm also 15, trust me giving up your Sikhi isn't worth it. I grew up in a city where there are barely any Sikhs, I've been the only Sikh in my school since kindergarden. People have picked on me and harassed me, there were times where I did feel like cutting my hair was the only option. A lot of people aren't going to stop picking on you until they're punished but some of them will stop if you just educate them. I want you to ask yourself this, who's picking on you the most? A lot of people follow the most popular kid in high school where I live, so there's a chance that everyone just does what that one person does. If that's the case you should avoid that person and maybe even talk to a teacher about him. If that's not what's happening then I would suggest only hanging out with your really close friends. There're a lot of groups in America like Sikh Coalition that could help you out. And you can also always contact me, I'm the same age as you and I'm in the same situation. -Simran Preet Singh
  8. What type of dastaar do you wear? And what part of the world are you from? I'm just curious and I want to know what styles, people wear in different parts of the world.
  9. I want to switch from a patka and my problem right now is that my hair is really long and thick so tying a comfortable dastaar is really difficult. Are there any round dastaar tutorials?
  10. WJKK WJKF I got a mac for the first time and i can't get Sikhi to the max on it
  11. WJKK WJKF I'm 15 and my parents want me to start using fixo to keep my beard straight. I had a few questions 1. Does it make your beard yellow? (I've heard that from a few people) 2. How much should I use? (should I use it everyday?) 3. Does Sikhi have anything against it? Thanks for replying.
  12. vjkk vjkf, I'm 15 years old and I'm starting to grow a beard, I'm the only person in my family besides my younger brother who keeps his kesh and beard. My hair is only on the sides of my head and under my chin right now and is about an inch or two long. One of my friends gave me gel to keep it down, I don't know if I should use it though. Any feedback would be good. Thanks.
  13. I'm 14 and I've decided to start wearing a dastaar instead of a patka. I want to start out by wearing a Parnaa. What dimensions should the pagh be?
  14. I'm from Ontario and I went to Vancouver a few days ago while I was there at a Gurudwara in Surrey I saw chairs and Tables in the Langar Hall. I'm 14 and I asked my cousin who is 20 if it was allowed in Sikhi and he said there was no problem with it. I just want to ask your opinion on this, is it wrong or is there no problem.
  15. I'm 14 years old in my first year of high school and wear a patka, my hair is really long and thick so tying a dastaar takes a long time. I've tried lots of things such as tying my hair around my head, but that makes the top of the dastaar hard to cover. Please post any suggestions and I would also greatly appreciate any Parnaa or small dhamalla tying videos. Thanks.
