  1. My parents have been lecturing me a lot lately on my height, I don't really mind my height (I turn 16 in 3 months and I'm 5 foot 8 and male). I think they're concerned because my brother's 12 and almost my height, and I'm also the shortest in my family. Is there anything I can do?

  2. There's a new twitter page and website that started up a few days ago called @patkaspotting it's made to shame people who were patka's. The person who started this page said their intention is to promote people to wear dastaars instead of patka's. In my opinion I think this is very wrong and it can even be considered as cyber bullying because the people on this page don't give permission for their pictures to be used (a lot of them don't even know their picture is used). Does anyone else think this isn't right?

    The website is http://patkaspotting.com

  3. I live in Canada and I'm also 15, trust me giving up your Sikhi isn't worth it. I grew up in a city where there are barely any Sikhs, I've been the only Sikh in my school since kindergarden. People have picked on me and harassed me, there were times where I did feel like cutting my hair was the only option. A lot of people aren't going to stop picking on you until they're punished but some of them will stop if you just educate them.

I want you to ask yourself this, who's picking on you the most? A lot of people follow the most popular kid in high school where I live, so there's a chance that everyone just does what that one person does. If that's the case you should avoid that person and maybe even talk to a teacher about him. If that's not what's happening then I would suggest only hanging out with your really close friends.

There're a lot of groups in America like Sikh Coalition that could help you out.

And you can also always contact me, I'm the same age as you and I'm in the same situation.

  4. I'm 14 years old in my first year of high school and wear a patka, my hair is really long and thick so tying a dastaar takes a long time. I've tried lots of things such as tying my hair around my head, but that makes the top of the dastaar hard to cover. Please post any suggestions and I would also greatly appreciate any Parnaa or small dhamalla tying videos. Thanks.
