they wear a turban that you will see elder sikh wearing, the younger sikhs wear the same turban in the same style but do "pooni" of the cloth to give it a more clean layer, as is shown in the youtube video that you have posted.

Dumalas were the style of dastaar worn by the nihangs and not the main style of dastaar used by everyone else. The Kooka style of dastaar is most likely just an old style of tying the dastaar that was worn by the originial Singhs that formed the Namdharis.

The change in turban style came after the Sikh kingdom's conquest of Afghan lands. The Afghans wore their turbans big and in the style we do now, called Shahi style, but the Sikhs know were the Shahi style more tidier and neater, but its still the same way of tying, layers down one side of the head, and up the the other side.

The Sikhs adopted this style to show the afghans that we are the rulers now.

The meeting in the gurdwara and the Protest last night was very productive and most of all, made the police sit up and take notice, since they dont do anything 2 these paki paedos/rapists who seem 2 have a free run at things. The girls family told the police FOUR times, before the community finally got involved and marched to the police gaff. It was pathetic at how after the protest had kicked off, the police from all over bedfordshire were called in, with riot gear and dogs. Where r these guys wen the paks r pimpin girls openly at night on the streets or pushing drugs on the streets? Pathetic!! Wheres panjab police wen u need em eh!

Best way to deal with this issue is to ensure that the family is supported and that pressure is put onto the police so that this case is dealt with through legal channels and justice is served via the law of the land. On going work via the Sikh Awareness Society and other groups to raise awareness about grooming cases and parchaar of Sikhi targeted towards young girls must also continue.

However, any talk of reprisals and forming gangs to combat muslims etc would be a mistake. Anyone preaching those sorts of views should be quickly isolated and ignored by the majority of the community.

Most Sikhs in Luton want to go about their daily business without gang warfare in the streets and inflamed tensions.

We can make this situation into whatever we want and take it to whatever level we choose. No doubt there is a minority of hot-headed Sikhs who will be baying for blood and are looking for any excuse to fight with muslims. However, anything other than lobbying for justice and raising awareness in the community would be destructive for our community and for community relations.

HEY GUYS, i jus come back home from the Luton gurdwara meeting and the unplanned but FANTASTIC protest march to the police station from the gurdwara (not very far from each other, and near town centre too). There were rumours that the paki rapist whose name has been revealed as MAJID RAJA, 20, was to be released tonight, so we marched down shouting the loudest jaikaras u can think of, and demanded that he be done over. WE blocked roads/traffic (only allowing ambulances thru), so the whole town knows wats gwaaning at the moment. Also arriving at the gurdwara and in the march itself (im not sure why/who invited them), but the edl's 2 leaders were present. The police soon had their numbers out with their dirty dogs. Many personalities from the Sikh Channel were present, such as Mohan singh (LEGEND!!!) and kam singh (youth show), as well as some rowdy birmingham sikhs boys who after the march had finished, started smashin few things up, dunno why, but yea we r all angry. Im not too sure what the current situation is with the case, i believe the paki has been kept in. Unbelievably the police have charged him with "assault"!!! SHE WAS RAPED, why not charge him with rape? disgusting police, usual politically correct mugs! Bhai Mohan Singh revealed the police had been told by the girls family FOUR TIMES, and they didnt take anything serious, its only since apnay raised their voices in mass numbers that they have done sumthin!

Also during the meeting itself at the gurdwara, many people spoke out about what shud b done etc (nuthin what he havnt heard b4), mohan singh also revealed about other cases of groomin.

But as sikhs WE NEED 2 STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!! what i witnessed 2day was sikhs uniting and almost have jus had enuff of this groomin/rape of our girls and police do nuthing. Weve seen sikh protest bowt this sort of stuff, but 2 protest outside the polic estation n give e

this was sent by a lot of my mates 2 me last night of this incident, via blackberry messenger, and it was then aired 2 everyone last night on sikh channel @ 9:15pm on sikh ethics show. SAS (Sikh Awareness Soceity) Bhai Mohan Singh will be there i believe.

Initially i wasnt sure why the whole sikh community shud b informed of this case and get involved with this, as its a rape,and it shud b left for the family and the police. But apparantly this was a racially motivated/calculated rape and the fact that it was done by a gandha Pak, im sure everyone has had enough, and id imagine vigilantism (ie Shere Panjab-esque) stuff will b talked about and how it MUST b revived. This Pak geezer probs thinks sikhs wont do nuffin as they r not militant like they used 2 b.

erm well 1st of all uk has got the largest sikh community outside india, 2ndly the main reason for the problems regarding our girls is because the muslims who r majority in these crimes are mirpuri (azaad kashmir) ''pakistanis''. They are reffered 2 as chavs/gypsy/backward tribal ppl. In places like canada/barcelona/america the majority of pakistanis r pathans/panjabi or sindhi's (karachi ppl). this is y u never c canadian or scottish sikhs moanin bowt this sort of stuff, because its mostly panjabi muslims who live in places like edinburgh/glasgow/brampton/surrey etc.

ive said it for long time now, these mirpuris should all be sent back, ask any panjabi/pathan pak wat they think of them, and watch how for the nxt 10 mins they describe their hate for them. If I had to guess, I'd say that a tiny 0,5% of 'Asians' have ever heard it. In which case arn't we in danger of giving publicity to a negative something that nobody's ever heard of in the first place ?

thanks paaji, yea im not sure bowt listening figures, but they are not a national radio station in the sense that u can pick them up on ur radio, but u can pick them up on their internet site/sky channel 0119 and DAB digital radio, as their national staus was taken away. Most of the callers r from the west midlands and up north, not many from south,
