1. If people diagree about turning your back to the Guru Granth Sahib, that means you can't move anywhere because which way can you turn where Waheguru isn't present?

Refer back to the story of when Guru Nanak Dev Ji went to Mecca and had his feet pointing in the direction of the Kabbah. Musalman's said do not put your feet in the direction of our Kabbah. Guru Nanak replied "Put my feet in a position where God does not exist."

Sorry just a very ignorant question.

Which Guru ji said you shouldn't EVER take ur k's away from ur body?

Could you please present a written shabad or something alike?

So what about when having a sexual intercouse?

I think thats very true.. but the thing is.. in my opinion.. if u have no choice and u have to take a kakar off then i guess u can.. but if u can hide it someone.. like others said ur kara with a wrestband then lve it on and do that.. other then that i dun think u have a reason to take ur karas off.. like for eg. wen u go travleing on a plane u have to take ur kirpan off or else they wont let u on the plane.. same as wen u go for x-rays .. sometimes its needed to take it off.... but wen its not.. then lve it on!! srry if i offended neone!

  5. I printed many pictures of the Gurus and lines from the Guru Granth Sahib, and now I have some extras. Would it be ok to just throw the pictures and hymns from the Guru in the trash? I feel like I would be disrespecting becuase then they would just be laying their in the trash can.  Should I burn them?

    WJKK WJKF!

To be honest.. throwing pictures out as u said is disrespectful.. soo you should burn them as u would of ur hair, gurmuki, worn out gutka etc. in respect

  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

    Waheguru Ji Kee Fateh

Please remove the link at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are kids on this site.

I dont think you should have brought this up because there is not much we can do. Through out the ages the Khalsa has been tormented. Weather it was when the Mughal took over the Darbar Sahib and brought women to dance in it, or when they took Sikh heads for money, or when the British shot down every Sikh man women and child, or even when the Hindus killed every Sikh in site for 3 days straight. And now the internet, where people make up stories of our Khalsa or even try to mock us. I dont know why they do it, it could be out of anger, hate, or jealousy. I will go back to the words of Guru Nanak, "there is no Hindu, and there is no Muslim", everywhere I look I see people claiming to be hindu muslim christian, but they dont practice their religion they just mock or look for flaws in others religion so they can justify why they are their religion. There are many many ignorant people in the world. If someone makes mocks your leg just ignore him, but if he kicks your leg, grab his foot! Lol I couldn't think of anything clever to say, but you get my point.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

I think that Gurbar Akaal is right!... maybe if u introduce her to sikhi and tell her more about it .. she'll start to understand what ur getting at... Breaking up with her after 3 years grin.gif ... probley wouldn't be the greatest idea.. as u said u wouldn't want to break her heart etc... i doubht she would want to convert into being a sikh... but maybe if she gets the knowledge of sikhi she'll want to become a sikh to...... i guess u can try it out! hopefully that helped

to be honest well atleast in my opinion ... forcing someone into amrit isnt always wrong!.... because sometimes its for their best.. even though its wrong in some ways.. and that each person should willing choose wen to take amrit.. sometimes beings forced can be a good thing.... for eg. my dads whole family were forced into getting amrit at the age of 15 or 16 by their older brother... even thought they were not ready at the time and did not want to.. they slowy started to understand and today 20 years after! their perfectly fine and they are soo glad that they got forced into it because if they hadnt onli waheguru noes how it would be now for them and also for us as their kids!.. im glad that my dad was forced in a way because we got to noe the real way of living and thats as being a sikh!... i understand what others point of view is and what they are saying and im not agenst ne of it cause i noes it right! this is just another view upon it!.. srry if i offended neone..

That is great veerji but let me point out.. that is a very odd case because i can guarantee you that most of the time, people get put off rather than staying in ...

I can give many examples from my own family and friends, and stories i heard of others from friends and family ... im sure all you have examples too ... all i wana say is that look at this from a western perspective... a guy/girl raised in the western part of the world.. knows his/her whole family is amritdhari ... may decide to take amrit in the future but the family is pressuring to take amrit rite now. This breaks the effort or even slight thinking of ones to take amrit and come to that side... I know for a fact cuz i know when my sisters are told to be like me (where im amritdhari), they hate it, they hate it a lot when people tell them be like your brother... they dont want to take amrit like that.. but now they are doing the step on their own and guru kirpa naal both of my sisters will one day take amrit .. and by their choice not someone elses..

All im saying is pressuring/forcing any of that stuff is WRONG .. and should not be done even if you think that some will benefit BECAUSE who are we to judge that this person MAY benefit from it ... we dont know ... so dsaying that we can force someone because they in the future will love sikhi ... NO !! This is untrue and most of the time it wont happen... guru kirpa naal it has happened to a family such as sikh2themax.. but we shouldnt take this into consideration that we should force people..

    just my two cents...

    103843

    WJKK WJKF!

srry!.... i didnt mean to say it was right but also didnt mean to say it was wrong!.. thats jus an example that i had used.. and yes bhaji u are right.... people shouldn't be forced/pressured at all and that they should always take amrit wen they feel they are ready!... but let me also point out that sometimes even if its by choice it does not always work out cause sometimes u either get lead into the wrong crowd or jus choose not to be amrit dari! anymore... iv'e seen this happen many times... i guess as its said ever thing happens for a reason... whats ment to be is ment to be we can not change that... Also everyone has their own oppnion on everything so i would also like to say that im not saying ne ones wrong no.gif so don't take me wrong! :TH:

  10. waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh

yes most of u will think im a very confused person as i ask too many questions but heres another one for u tongue.gif

When someone is doing kirtan, especially a raagi, they say Guru Garibnivaaj right before they do a shabad... Guru Garib Nivaaj, Nimaaneo ke maan, nitaaneo ke taan....

can someone please tell me what this means?

    thank you

I guess in many ways asking questions can be a great thing because u get soo much knowledge from just simple question that u had never thought of...such as the one u just asked. Well i don't have much knowledge myself but as u have asked this question i had also asked my dad this question once before and this is wat he told me.

"Guru Garib Nivaaj, Nimaaneo ke maan, nitaaneo ke taan "

Guru Garib Nivaaj = Guru is with the poor at all times.. The poor stand up to Guruji and believe in him more then the Wealthy

Nimaaneo ke maan = have maan(being proud) for something or someone for eg. ur mom, dad, bro, sis, or even god himself.

Nitaaneo ke taan= Guruji is powerful for those who are powerless ( Nimaaneo: Powerless, Taan: Powerful)

    hopefully this helped!

  12. I did not grow up in a Gursikh household, but I love learning about our religion. In order for me to learn more about our faith and language, my parents sent me to Punjabi school when I was a youngster  . Even though my parents are not exactly the most religious, I have a yearning to learn more about our wonderful religion, and have gained some knowledge through reading books and asking my family for more information about Sikhism. I have also learned how to do paat with God's Grace  :) . But I'm still immature and have LOT'S to learn!

    101540

as i said above .. its is true even though u are not born in a gursikh family its can also depend on the sangat u hang with! rolleyes.gif

  13. WJKK WJKF!

i think i might have the answer to your question but i am not sure... as the paji before me said practice makes perfect... i guess you can practice and try your best or u can even go to a kirtan school .. such has if u live in surrey they have alot of schools like that.. but also heres a site that i find helpfull..

    http://www.sikhitothemax.com/

wen u enter the site u can scroll down and at the bottom its gonna say "Learn Keerta" . :TH: . go their and jus surf around lol.. well hope that helped if not sorry!

  14. how does family life affect your sikhi?

    Wjkk Wjkf...

in my opinion i think that based on if ur parents are gursikhs or not it will affect how your child is rasied..sometimes even if ur parents are gursikhs it can also depend on what type of sangat u stay with.. if you hang out with the bad sangat then most likely u will start to follow that way of living.. but if the sangat is good then u can also start to live the good side of life. its all up to us if we want the kaljug way of living or satjug!
