  1. Satsriakal to all and ms514 Ji! You seem to be impatient. I hope that many people may go through Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to find an answer. This way they become directly connected with the Guru again. Surely I may express the views as those come up in my conscious mind also. I would share everything that belongs to the world. I hope that you all keep Satsang alive. Thanks. Balbir Singh
  2. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal! Beloved Spiritual Companions! There is a lot of matter being published since ages. It is in different forms of books, magazines etc., also on Internet. These are statements and thoughts expressed once. We do not call those Baanee. We read or sing our Guru's Songs and call this Guru's Baanee. Why? Please share your views. Balbir Singh
  3. Satsriakal to all and Gupat Daasan Daas Ji! Thanks for the wonderful Shabads from Gurbani. Would you please explain which Guru's Vaak, from those you have referred, instruct us to read anything. Balbir Singh

Here are few Vaaks about reading without NAAM from our Gurus. jig haumY mYlu duKu pwieAw mlu lwgI dUjY Bwie ] mlu haumY DoqI ikvY n auqrY jy sau qIrQ nwie ] bhu ibiD krm kmwvdy dUxI mlu lwgI Awie ] piVAY mYlu n auqrY pUChu igAwnIAw jwie ]1] SGGS page 39 -------------- Satsriakal naam jap Ji! You wrote "Reading Gurbani just as parrot doesnt seem uplifting, I agree.. its very true . . . " I feel the same. There may be some who not only read Gurbani as parrot but also remember and repeat like a parrot. Then they search the audience whom they can narrate Gurbani. One should long to receive it through true JAP. Understanding Gurbani and its mystery is solved by itself then. Balbir Singh
  5. Satsriakal to all and ms514 Ji! It is nice to hear from you again. You wrote "I am not a Sikh yet . . ." You are. You are a human being already. Becoming a Sikh, in my view, is also realizing true values gifted to human beings by the Almighty. Balbir Singh
  6. Satsriakal to all and ms514 Ji! Please do not feel hurt. Then all that is disturbing you are your presumptions or imaginations. This has nothing to do with reality. You should not feel hurt when you are on the right path. Nobody can denounce your experiences. My Gurus are ten plus one, from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I do not feel good about your negative statements in your post. Please do not try to prove that you are a better Sikh by showing your rabid religious values. You are welcome to discuss Gurbani in a constructive way in the future also. Please let me know if it is not possible for you. My best wishes are with you and all on this forum. May Waheguru Ji bless you and give you Darshan as you want. Balbir Singh
  7. I am ashamed if you are a Sikh. I do not need to know your brought up. I thought we are here to discuss Gurbani.
  8. Satsriakal to all and ms514 Ji! You seem to be a well-read person. Is there any difficulty to provide a reference from Gurbani where our Gurus have suggested us to do Paath or read Gurbani? I have heard about a thirsty person. He visited his master for the solution. The master told him to drink water. The person was happy to get the Mantar from his master. From that day he is repeating this Mantar. Thirst has increased tremendously. The body has become weak. The end of life is approaching near. The hope is keeping him alive to get a rebirth. But the Shabad of the Guru is not understood. The person is very convinced till today that he is perfectly following his master. Gurdev sings "disantar bhavai paath parh thaakaa tarisnaa ho-ay vaDhayrai." SGGS page 1012-16 Wanders in all directions, get tired reading paath, thirst gets increased. "kaachee pindee sabad na cheenai udar bharai jaisay dhorai." Please be sure. I am not asking anybody to stop reading Gurbani. My message is to read Gurbani and understand that Gurdev is giving first priority for Simran or JAP. Those who know this will anyway and anytime enjoy Gurbani in true sense. It does not matter. Who reads or sings Gurbani and in which way then. All others read Gurbani for the fulfillment of a wish, as ritual or because a preacher has directed them to follow his instructions. Please spare your personal comments, questions and excuse me if I have disturbed you during sleep. Balbir Singh
  9. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal! Dear ms514 Ji! You asked "Have you realized what other preachers are deficient in?" I have already expressed few opinions. It looks like you have not come across such preachers. You continued " . . . please elaborate what Gurudwara you do Katha in so we may ask the Sangat the effect of your Katha on them." I sit near the feet of my Guru to listen, not to tell stories. I brought an impulse "What is that what you miss, even after reading Gurbani for a number of times?" to meditate on it. Your reaction shows that you have achieved something. Your response to the question "Have our Gurus ever suggested us to attend such lectures?" is strange. The word 'such' indicates only those preachers I have mentioned. Please do not claim what I have not meant and expressed. You have put a question. "Do you know which Sangats completely embody the Guru Sahib's concept of Sadh Sangat?" In my view, it is the congregation of Saadh who has received Naam from the Sat Guru or have come to receive it. To answer the query "Have our Gurus ever suggested us to read Gurbani or any Granth?" you gave some wonderful examples from Gurbani. Would you please write which of the Shabad from these Guru's Vaak can be translated 'read'? You showed curiosity in my relation to the Guru and wrote "The question is have you come to know the real JAP.?" Yes. By Grace of God this is the most precious blessing from Gurdev. -------------- Everyone may ask him truly. He wants to belong to a worldly religion. Or he wants to live his true Dharma. True Dharma is recognized by true JAP. Balbir Singh
  10. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal! Deg Teg Fateh Ji! Thanks for the wonderful references from Gurbani. You referred the Guru's Vaak hir gux pVIAY hir gux guxIAY ] SGGS page 95-1 Would you please elaborate which book is 'hari gun'. Where is this book published and who is its author? Did any preacher instruct up to now what this is and how to read this? You referred to another great Vaak from Gurdev gurmuiK pVih hir nwmu slwhih dir scY soBw pwvixAw SGGS page 127-9 The mouth of Guru reads, praises the name of Hari, in true place honor is received. In my view, many have misinterpreted the word 'Gurmukh'. It is not enough to call our existence 'Gurmukh' and let the mind deceive us. Becoming the mouth of the Guru is possible when Guru speaks and ego vanishes. This riddle is solved by those alone who come to know true Simran. You asked " . . . aint reading, singing or listening just the same thing coz Gurbaani is the same either way?" Is it reading, singing or listening about mangos is the same as mango and its taste? I feel the preachers have mislead Sikhs a lot, specially in the present time. In their lectures they tell stories which have nothing to do with Guru's Updesh. They misguide Sikhs by giving examples of those who spent their life counting the numbers of Paaths. They predict innocent Sikhs the worse when other thoughts penetrate during Paath. They have a long list to guide you which are never mentioned by our Gurus. They have become experts in misleading just because you have provided them a stage. Gurdev has mentioned such preachers in Gurbani. muK qy pVqw tIkw sihq ] ihrdY rwmu nhI pUrn rhq ] aupdysu kry kir lok idRVwvY ] Apnw kihAw Awip n kmwvY ]1] SGGS page 887 Please ponder over this. What is that what you miss even after attending so many lectures from Preachers? What is that what you miss, even after reading Gurbani for a number of times? Have our Gurus ever suggested us to attend such lectures? Have our Gurus ever suggested us to read Gurbani or any Granth? You may not search for another query after you come to know real JAP. Love. Balbir Singh
  11. Pray Truth for all and Satsriakal! Dear ms514 Ji! You have put a question to avoid the answer. Please go through Gurbani and let all know where our Gurus have suggested us to read Gurbani or any other Granth. You see I am not asking you to stop reading Gurbani. -------------- Dear Ladoo Ji! You wrote "We recite Gurbani so that we can feed our soul." Would you please explore how it works. Have our Gurus also mentioned such results by reading Gurbani? Balbir Singh
  12. Satsriakal to all and Deg Teg Fateh Ji! Thanks for the wonderful references from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji! Your references are about listening (sravan) and singing (gaavahu) Gurbani. The topic here is about reading Gurbani and experiencing its results. Balbir Singh
  13. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal! Dear companions on the spiritual journey! Let us exchange our thoughts and experiences in Satsang on the following topic. Why do we read Gurbani? I wish you all to move forward during this Satsang. Love. Balbir Singh
  14. Satsriakal to all and Sher Panjabi Ji! Thanks for your references. May I ask from where Professor Sahib Singh Ji got the idea to title the beginning of Japuji Sahib 'Mool-Mantar'? In my view, the true experience of JAP is the only way to know what Gurbani is. It is not the translation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from anyone. Let us go through the example of the translation. You have referred, from Professor Sahib Singh Ji. Guru's Baanee is "aad sach jugaad sach. hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach." SGGS page 1 Prof. Sahib Singh Ji's translation is "Akaal Purakh mudh ton hond waalaa hai . . ." May I ask which word he has translated as 'Akaal Purakh' here? Is there any difficulty to translate Gurbani as it is, word by word? And let the Gurbani be understood by every individual according to his conscious level of mind. Balbir Singh
  15. Satsriakal ms514 Ji! Thanks for your efforts. My curiosity is not about the beginning or ending of the Mool-Mantar or its separation from the body of the Japuji Sahib. It is anyway surprising that some Sikhs have given the title 'Mool-Mantar' to the beginning part of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and now they are discussing where it ends. The word 'Mool-Mantar' occurs in Gurbani but in a different context. There are some verses in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji those begin with a stanza numbered '1'. The following stanza is again numbered '1'. Japuji Sahib is one example of it. My curiosity is to know what message Gurdev has conveyed by doing this. Perhaps Sikh scholars have researched on this topic. Balbir Singh
  16. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal! Dear Gurbani Lovers! I have a curiosity. In Japuji Sahib after Guru's Vaak "hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach" number '1' occurs. The same number '1' occurs again after Guru's Vaak "hukam rajaa-ee chalnaa naanak likhi-aa naal" Please explain what the use of same number '1' indicates at both the places? I will be grateful. Balbir Singh
