  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

We recently released a series of webpages on science/ atheist related topics.

    Read here - http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikhism/atheist_myths.html

We have received some good feedback.

"I found your site in a quest to learn about Sikhism. I LOVE your explanations about was there ever nothing and something else. Ever since I was in college in the 70s, I have been puzzled by the question of where the universe ends. And who created God? I have never seen a better explanation for these imponderables than what you provided. Thank you!! I was raised Christian but believe in One World, One God, so I'm not sure if I'm Buddhist or even a Sikh at heart."

Sangat Ji, If you have 10 mins to spare, we would appreciate your thoughts/ opinions.

UK’s National Union of Journalists want Government to set up public inquiry into 1984 Amritsar massacre.

London, United Kingdom (June 12, 2014): The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called for a public inquiry and full disclosure of government papers relating to the Amritsar massacre of 1984.

    Andy-Smith-and-John-McDonnell-300x200.jp

A delegation led by Andy Smith, NUJ joint-president, and John McDonnell MP to Downing Street delivered a letter to the Prime Minister setting out the union’s concerns.

David Cameron ordered a review by Cabinet Secretary, Sir Jeremy Heywood, after letters from the National Archives were published revealing that Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher had sent an SAS military officer to advise India on a plan to retake the Golden Temple, the Sikh religion’s holiest site, in Amritsar.

The number of deaths resulting from the assault is disputed. The figure given by the Indian government was 400, but Sikhs believe thousands were killed.

The letter, signed by Michelle Stanistreet, NUJ general secretary, questioned the narrow terms of Sir Jeremy’s review and listed a series of questions relating to the incident and events leading up to the massacre.

The letter noted the US-based NGO, Ensaaf had recently released eyewitness account of the army attack, A witness among the bodies: Surviving Bluestar, which painted a completely different picture from the one originally presented at the time.

The letter concluded by asking the PM to raise issues of transparency with his new Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi. Full text of letter

The NUJ’s Delegate Meeting, in April, voted for the establishment of a judge-led inquiry into all the documents and events relating to India, covering the whole of 1984.

    Andy Smith said:

“The NUJ has called for a full and proper review of the events leading up to the raid on the Golden Temple and the role played by the British government. There are many important questions that need to be answered. The whole affair also highlights the default position of all governments which is seems to be to cover up rather than reveal the facts. The British people should have the right to full disclosure on how its government acts and has acted in their name.”

The full delegation included Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, prospective Labour candidate for Gravesend, Parvinder Singh, NUJ Book branch, and Phil Miller, a researcher and journalist whose disclosures led to the review.

SAN FRANCISCO, California, USA (June 9, 2014)—Sikhs from all over California and neighboring States held a massive rally at San Francisco’s Civic Center earlier today. Estimated 15,000 showed solidarity and demanded self-determination in Punjab, the Sikh homeland. Sikhs from cities as far as San Diego, Los Angeles, Reno, Redding and Yuba City were present. Attendance by such a large number from Sikhs also seemed to have surprised the organizers. Several of BART’s trains were filled by Sikhs from the Bay Area.

12:22 (Mark Tully) “The one consolation was that the Army had obeyed their order not to damage the Golden Temple itself
There is clear evidence of gunfire hitting the Darbar Sahib. In fact Amrik Singh the blind head ragi (master classical musician) was shot dead whilst performing kirtan in the Darbar Sahib.

The damage to Sri Harmandir Sahib included tank shells and other large calibre bullets. We haven't been able to find any pictures. However, the damage facing the langar hall side was visible for many years.

Please can you help find and post pictures of Sri Harmandir Sahib damage?

How Punjab's missing thousands are being forgotten

Thirty years on from the Indian army's raid on the Golden Temple in June 1984, the relatives of those who were "disappeared" in the years after the attack feel their cause has been abandoned, reports the BBC's Jastinder Khera from Amritsar.

Satwant Singh Manak says he saw 15 people killed by his colleagues when he was serving in the Punjab police - but it was the last that cemented his sense of betrayal, and led him to turn his back on the force.

Kulwant Singh Kanta was a teenager who was detained by the police in April 1992 after a neighbour accused him of having joined a militant group.

"They tortured him for three days. Then they took him to a canal and killed him along with another detainee," Mr Manak recalls.

"They threw his body in the canal."... read more -http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-27585500

Today was the Second day of the Sri Harmandir Sahib Sikh genocide.

    Saturday June 2nd 1984

The Indian army had already sealed the international border from Kashmir to Ganga Nagar, Rajasthan. At least seven divisions of army were fully deployed in villages of Punjab stopping all movement of civilians. By nightfall the media and the press were fully gagged; the rail, road and air services in Punjab were suspended. Foreigner and non-resident indian (NRI) entry was also banned. General Gauri Shankar was appointed as the Security Advisor to the Governor of Punjab.

UN conventions of human rights were ignored and the policies of Adolf Hitler were adopted. The water and electricity supply was cut off.

Indira Gandhi's need for vengeance against Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale overwhelmed her humanity. The evil hindu dictator was so ruthless that she was willing to commit sacrilege & Sikh genocide at any cost, she conned the world using anti-Sikh propaganda.

Hi, Does anyone know what routes in London the rally will be going down...I would like to join but won't be there at 11.

    The route in London is described as;

    1100hrs Gather at Hyde Park

1300-1400hrs Remembrance March through heart of London - Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square

1400-1700hrs Freedom Rally in Trafalgar Square

Today marks the beginning of the Sikh genocide and attack on the most holiest Sikh site Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).

India (the name given by the British to their ghulams (slaves)) begins the ultimate treachery.

100,000 Indian army soldiers have already mobilized and deployed throughout Punjab surrounding all important Gurdwaras including Sri Harmandir Sahib (why? ).

    Friday June 1st 1984

Thousands of Sikhs gather at the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) complex to celebrate the martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji on June 3rd.

As Baba Jarnail Singh Bindranwale sits on the roof of the Langer hall, military snipers target him and random civilians and open fire, brave Sikh defenders fire back.

A seven hour skirmish during the night lasting until the morning leaves 11 dead and 25 injured. There were bullet holes in the Langer building, in the marble pavement (parkarma) surrounding Sri Harmandir Sahib and in the complex itself. - See more at: http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikhism/1984_amritsar_genocide.html

May 23 2014, marks 21 years since the Punjab Police filed false cases against Manak to punish him for standing up for human rights.

On April 2, Ensaaf helped Manak file an appeal to the Supreme Court. Join Manak and Ensaaf in the fight for justice by promoting the online release of The Last Killing.

Australia made history when it welcomed a mass murderer from India

Amitabh is an alleged mass murderer, a perpetrator of 1984 Sikh genocide. Today Australia has announced scholarship on his name, the day is not far when Australia may declare another scholarship to honor Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Goebals. If a mass murderer of India can be honored, why not Nazis?

Amitabh the alleged mass murder couldn’t dare to enter in Princess theater but chose back door, made mockery of agitators on stage inside, protesting against him outside in the venue.

Kaur, who lost members of her family for no fault of theirs, recollects the incident, “I watched the live relay on Doordarshan and saw Amitabh Bachchan shouting the slogan – ‘Khoon ka badla khoon se lenge!‘. And everyone who saw the live telecast would know how Amitabh Bachchan provoked the riots.”

The violence led to huge personal loss for Kaur – her husband and son were murdered as she watched, killed by a frenzied mob inside her house in West Delhi on November 1, 1984. Sadly, she also lost her three brothers, who were burnt to death.

Racial vilification is the term in the legislation of Australia that refers to a public act that encourages or incites others to hate people because of their race, nationality, country of origin, colour or ethnic origin. Public acts of this type are illegal according to e.g., the Racial Vilification Act 1996 of South Australia.

So, why has Australia chosen to ignore its principles and embrace a man accused of instigating Sikh genocide?
