  1. As in past we strictly enforce rules protecting person's privacy regardless of who they are. Also due to laws of our land, we won't allow any private information to be exposed on our forums without any firm evidence (ex: guilty announced by court of law or someone admitted their mistakes etc). Please do not post any names, address, phone numbers, photos, videos or anything revealing identity of anyone in this thread. SikhSangat provides platform to all and please use such platform with sense of responsibility.

Original poster asked our permission to open this thread and we allow them to post and continue this thread as long as it protects privacy of all and so far we are happy with that. Our official standpoint is 100% neutral; we don't take sides.

  3. Sikh bone marrow donor event attracts 600 in Leicester

Leicester, UK: More than 600 potential bone marrow donors have provided saliva samples at an event in Leicester to help a police officer who has cancer.

The event was held at the Sikh gurdwara on East Park Road for Rik Basra, who was diagnosed two years ago with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Organisers said there had been a good response from the community.

The best match for Mr Basra, who needs a transplant, is likely to be an Asian male aged between 18 and 30. Only 4% of people from an Asian background are currently registered as potential donors.

Jenner Large, from the Anthony Nolan Trust, said the event had been very succesful and she was hopeful of holding more in other areas.

She urged people to register online at the Anthony Nolan Trust’s website.

She added that one of the reasons why people were reluctant to join the donor register was a lack of understanding about the process, which she said was no worse than giving blood.

Mr Basra’s wife Kas said she was delighted that the message about a shortfall of Asian donors was finally getting through to the local community.

  5. We encourage members to be courteous to others, and treat fellow members the way they wish to be treated. Good manners are inseparable from Sikhi. Intelligent discourse and freedom of expression is encouraged, as long as it is exercised with responsibility. Insults made against other members on this board are not tolerated, even those made via PM. Warnings will be issued to offending members.

  6. Topic Closed - SikhSangat Stand on Such Issues are clearly mentioned in our "Forum Rules & Guidelines". Those who don't follow the below rules, we ask them politely to refrain them-self from discussing such topics. Zero Tolerance !

Raag Maala: Raag Maala appears on the last Ang of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. There has been much conflict in the Panth over this for the last 150 years. Majority of the members on this forum are at young age. This is the age to learn about Sikhi so that we can follow Guru Ji's path. It is very easy for young members to go off topic and turn the debate into personal attacks which brings down the quality of the forum. Although Bani is very dear to us and we would like to see this matter resolved but many great scholars have written so much about it. Both sides have good intentions and respect Bani very much. Any insulting, jatha bashing or vulgar comments are not allowed and will result in banning the member without any notice or warning. If anyone wants to explore this topic he/she should read the books that have been written in the past and make up his/her mind. No topics about Raag Maala shall be discussed on SikhSangat Forum. Warning will be issued. We request everyone to respect each other's beliefs and learn from each other.

    Dasam Granth March 1, 2008

Dasam Granth Bani: SikhSangat.com holds a Pro Dasam Granth stand. We believe that the Dasam Granth Sahib in its current form is the work of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. No provocative, insulting or derogatory language will be tolerated against Dasam Granth Sahib. Any topic or post questioning the authority and authenticity of the Dasam Granth will not be allowed. Not following the rule will result in Under moderation and possible ban without an issuance of warning.

  7. AKJ is panthic jathabandi just like Damdami Taksal. Please don't bad mouth whole jathabandi just by the actions of few. There are bad apples in every society but we need to be mature enough to take sensible stand. Don't make the whole Jatha liable for any anti-panthic stands but instead sangat should ask particular jatha leaders to explain their stand. Posts/replies that are being made against AKJ will be trashed except discussing of jatha leaders present in public meeting.

Again..please can we post photos of these guys!

Photos of any person can be posted on SikhSangat only if the picture is taken in Public. Please refrain yourself by posting private pictures (ex.. home with family etc).
