  1. I'm a sikh girl from the UK and my family are 'Rajputs'. Before I start this topic I just wanted to say that i don't want anyone posting rude and unhelpful responses, I don't want any hate speeches against other castes or religions and neither do I want irrelevant 'facts' of any sort. I have read so many posts on here shared by Sikhs saying Sikhs don't believe in caste and its only a 'hindu thing'. This is untrue. Yes sikhism is against the caste system but MAJORITY of the Sikh people do believe in the caste system, it has not died, not even in the younger generation. It still lives. And tbh, my Gujarati friends who are all hindu hardly know anything about this caste system, so I guess it's a bigger problem in Hindu Punjabi and sikh families. I am 'Rajput'. We are apparently considered to be a good 'high' caste. I am in my late 20s and I have been close to a boy for many years now, ever since university. Everything about us is great, we have a lot in common and our upbringing is quite similar. He is a chemical engineer and I am a teacher. My parents would be so proud that I have gone out there and found a decent boy. However this isn't the case, he is a Khumbar (also known as prajapati) - they used to be potters many hundreds of years ago. They are considered to be 'lower caste'. I REALLY want to marry this man. I am desperate for some help and advice. I never use forums or online help but my desperation has led me to this way of seeking for help.
