  1. well sitargirl i would have to say to u "lucky u" and the reason why i say tht is coz i myself jus happened to be a sophomore at my uni and of all the kesa dhaari singhs i have seen they dont really have dastar on em and i think am the only one so far with dastar

and secondly the thing about the clubs i used to hate tht place but i dunno why i feel tht its better socializing at a club rather at a gurdwara coz we disrespect the maryada when we start talkin in a gurdwara in front of Guru Granth Sahib ji

i totally agree with ur viewpoint

but the thing about amritdharis ... there are some good ones and some bad ones so would u think it would be wise to generalize all of em being phony and out of picture of the sikhi?

Damn...you lot still moaning about this. I love the way sitar girl breaks down exectly what everyone says.

I'll take that as a compliment but you must have noticed that I don't break yours down - purely cos you forgot to mention you drink.

Sitar girl, i duno what kinda bars you been to...but me being a music student i go to all kinds on clubs/bars.Heres a few breakdowns of to how, generally, clubs are and whats goes on in em

Thanks for the breakdown. I tend to go to all sorts but mainly the hiphop and bhangra ones.....Just so that you know the breakdown really doesn't change anything cos what I say still applies. In all honesty I prefer bars to clubs cos the 'chat' actually happens there but since I don't drink its a complete waste of my time...on the rare occasion I do meet ppl who I stay friends with but not cos I chatted to them at the place but cos of talking to them afterwards.

In terms of music contacts I did happen to meet this guy who randomly came up to me and asked if I played anything and wanted to do a merger....but those ppl can be met via other places. I tend to now prefer music concerts....less tiring on me and better quality in terms of musical talent about....

I love that this whole thing turned from a question into a full on arguement. Just makes me laugh at how serious people take minor things that are insignificant.

I do think this is an important thing cos amritdhari ppl are justifying their actions in terms of sikhi etc. Please go if you want but don't put sikhi into it.

  2. thts wt am talkin about....... we are never "we" instead of that its always "I"........ i am always at sikhsangat lookin for somebody to teach me to overcome this problem coz the "I" thing bothers me but I learned a lot of stuff from here even though am not an active participant in all the conversations ...... I have faced those questions too by my friends and by myself. I work in an area totally surrounded by black people more like radical blacks more like in religious sense. I ve to face these questions everyday in my life Do You Believe in Jesus? I am like inside my head asking the guy "Do" You Believe in Jesus ? but on the other hand I have this another question in my head going on asking me Do I Believe in What my religion and my identity being a sikh requires me to believe?

Papi brother ....... i guess i should have ur screen name coz there are a lot of things in my life that describe and justify that characteristic of mine and i wish if i could learn something from someone over here to be a "SIKH"............. bhul chuk maaf I just wanted to share that coz I ve been observing and noticing sikhsangat a lot of times and it has given me a tremendous amount of help in this matter .... a matter that matters to me a lot.......

    once again.....

    T H A N K S to sikhsangat

  3. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh...... just curious wht do u guys feel about Iraq War and war in the middle east .... was it just enough for "muslim radicals" to recall themselves as matyrs when they were found responsible for every mishap in the world? Dont you guys think its getting worser i mean at times of Guru Gobind Singh ji it was bad enough and not its somethin like u cant ask it to get any much worser........ just curious to know everyones view.

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ka Khalsa

  4. erm.... aight but i think i am greatly influenced by freud and neo freudians cz the thing is that its hard for us to fight against those enemies but its never impossible

my point is tht is it really true tht we have those forces shaping our behavior or mentality

spirituality has its own part coz its important for us to have spirituality but on the other hand wt about those forces

ego as defined by freud is important but can we relate the same ego to "Haume"

i think that Freud didnt had quite pleasent ideas for religion and religious ideas

  5. aight... kinda late for the reply but i show up in school only on two days well i am most interested in Freud's psycholoanalytic theory

i mean unconscious mind does it go along with gurbani coz i know this for sure tht gurbani can never be reversed on contradicted but wht about the force tht are inside us and we never knew about em as such sexual(kaam)

its hard to fight those forces but a close think about tht wht really make us sometimes slaves of those forces?

is there any corelation between rational analysis and those forces???

i am really confused between these things i mean if i cant know more about those unconscious forces or kaam how could i fight with them

i might be wrong about tht conclusion too but sangat bhul chuk maaaf kare .... all i am tryin to do is jus end a big confusion if theres anyone who would help me in this out?

    bhul chuk maaf

  6. dude u ought to talk about a deep philosophical concept because freedom is something that we never had and thas the only reason we never recognized its real sene ......... perhaps its a full journey in gurmat from grade first uptill the braham gyaan .... its totally beyond the reach of our mind and brain ..... totally hard concept to grab ......

  7. bro it has nothing to do with the mcc knw wt i mean ..... i mean its about an ordinary american citizen wht does he knows about us

now i raise question to every single member in this forum : have we been successful in "parchar" coz if we would have been then things would have been different today?

lol I hope this thread isn't just about us...anyone else want to join in?

By the way, I already graduated from Rutgers and am now working.

P.S. No wonder your professor said that. I wouldn't put too much stock into what a teacher from Middlesex County College says. It aint exactly Harvard. LOL.gif

  8. Lookin to transfer Rutgers this sem right now i am in middlesex county college lol hate bein at this damn place bro lol wht u school at????

Hey, bro, I went to Rutgers and used to chill around Edison a lot. Yeah, you're right, the central area isn't too bad and most people I've met know who we are, but the southern part near Atlantic City isn't as good. I haven't had any problems myself, though. Which University do you attend?
  9. well to be honest not like a major one but in minor sense its everywhere u can see tht too i mean central jersey its aight coz major desi population arouund this area but if u go to south jersey ppl will always think u as a muslim or crap i work in south jersey near to philli i live near to nyc right near to edison area but this college proff was like we dont know about such things ...... how many ppl have u ever seen in ur life who knows exactly about sikhs and their physical and mental outlook??? the worst part is being corelated with muslims i mean i m not like tht every single muslim is crap on this planet but after 9/11 this thing is haunting us everywhere now

nice to see someone around jersey well bro i am always workin from thu through sunday so i dont really get tht much chance to be there but my family use to go to glennrock gurdwara and now we go to dashmesh darbar in carteret on sundays where u from in jersey???
Good point! By the way, do you go to Bridgewater Gurdwara?

Actually, I'm very close in NYC, but go to Bridgewater Gurdwara once a month. I've been to Carteret Gurdwara a few times for some samagams. Have you faced any discrimination in Jersey?

  10. not exactly ..... it concerns us as sikhs in only bringin beer ras to encourage us to be ready for any kind of situations that are about to be seen in near future

kalki avtar will come or not is somethin we shudnt argue because even if he comes he still has to respect Guru Granth Sahib ji as supreme power coz theres a vast difference between avatar or karak and Guru Parmeshwar

man dont go deep into tht coz i heard and thought about this stuff through sant hari singh ji's katha of kalki avtar

Guru Granth Sahib ji most supreme - jus remember tht thas wht i am tryin to do right now
