  1. Sat Sri Akal, I was born in California, USA, my father came to the states when he was 4, and my mother came when she was married at 17 (she was a city girl from india). My parents aren't too religious, but we do love God, and everyone around us. My question is why do Sikh families care if their children marry Muslims? My brother and I grew up dating whoever we wanted as long as they were respectful and kind. I am now in my mid 20's and I have an interest in a Muslim man.. But my parents say that they can't accept him. I'm baffled as to why that is, since they don't have an issue with any other religion. I am aware of the history between the religions, but why let a few rotten apples spoil the bunch? I won't continue dating him if it will give me trouble, but I'm wondering why is it that we're told to love everybody but are prejudice? Thank you in advance for your kind, and considerate responses as this is my first time, Parminder G.
