  1. Have Your Say East London Seminar 11March 2006 Do British Sikh youth have equal opportunities, issues identifying with Britishness and are you concerned with personal and general security matters particularly since 7/7? Are there obstacles to being equal citizens and are the support services satisfactory? Now is your chance to speak out and inform policy as well as attitudes. The Sikh Human Rights Group [sHRG] has been authorised by the Home office to conduct a project that will look at Youth Identity and Belonging. This project has been specifically designed for young British Sikhs to explore issues of belonging, equal opportunities and shared Sikh British identity as well as issues such as culture, religious ethnic identities and diversity. The project is in partnership with the British Organisation of Sikh Students [bOSS]. This project aims to explore the perceptions, issues and expectations of Sikh youth in the United Kingdom through their own experiences and discussions. The seminars will cover a wide range of topics including the media, employment, sport and security. This project provides a vital opportunity for young Sikhs in the United Kingdom to discuss issues and challenges whilst providing an open forum to be heard. The findings of these seminars will form guidelines for policy and decision makers, including the Home Office, Government Departments, Local Authorities, Private Sector Institutions and Industry, as well as Career Advice Bodies. If you are between 16 – 30 years old and want your voice to be heard and a chance to influence government policy in relation to Sikhs in the United Kingdom then participate in these seminars. The seminar will be begin at 1:30 p.m. The seminar is being held at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Roding Lane Chigwell, Essex IG7 6BQ on Saturday 11th March 2006.
