  1. I do not believe in giving too much power to religion alone. I do believe religion should have a voice in a council made up of educated people representing all aspects of khalistan, but Panj Piyaare controlling all of Khalistan would be too one sided. Respected that these people would have great deal of knowledge pertaining to Sikhi, but how knowledgeable would they be when it comes to day-to-day administrative activities. Certain things may also require a great deal of understanding and study, such as economics. These decisions the Punj Piyaare make will be based on there religions training? I do believe that there should be a seat for religion on a council, but religion should be one voice just like everyone else. This is also another reasons why I dislike the name Khalistan, people start associating the state as an extension of the religion. Like the laws and decisions taken by the state should not be based on Sikhi alone. I believe the Panj Piyaare in charge of Khalistan would be a very dangerous situation. I would rather see the state run by a council with one seat dedicated to a religions representative, regardless of religion. Also, the way Khalistan will be formed isn’t through violence (in my opinion), it is through education and organization. The more we come together and start to organize ourselves the more power we will have. I believe a new party needs to be started in India. This party could have chapters in all states that want to be independent from India (its not just Punjab that wants to be independent). Then we should start to push forward resolutions that will eventually lead to independence. Violence will be used by the Indian government to intimidate us, at this point we must use the world media to our advantage. India of today is not the same India of 84. No longer can it afford to seem intolerant to minorities in fear of losing world investment. In addition, the Sikh community of today isn’t the same as in 84. Today we have many well established Sikhs in powerful positions throughout the world. We only grow stronger, while India is being more restraint. The world is changing very quickly today and will do so for the next 40 to 50 years. Natural resources will soon deplete and countries will start to war over various needs. Already the US is engaged in war over control of oil, it will only get worst. Change is opportunity and we will take advantage of this opportunity.
  2. Everyone that is reading this, here is some advice I learned the hard way. During the freedom movement Sikhs from various parts of the world would have secrete meetings about what to do about the situation in Punjab, but some how the Indian government would know exactly what was said at the meetings. They would then send each group a transcript of what was said. This would lead to confusion, mistrust and frustration. To further the situation, the agents inside the various groups would then start to accuse others of being spies, those people would get mad and accuse others and so on. The original point of the meetings was to figure out what to do in Punjab, but what ended up happening was people started fighting with each other. These agents or informers are still around today, even more so then before. The Indian government keeps an active eye on these discussions and tries to keep it from growing into anything. So my advice to anyone who gets a useless post accusing them of being racist or saying this conversation is pointless, just ignore it. If no one responds to these people they will eventually leave or stop posting useless things. What we as a people should do is try to figure out is what really is Khalistan, what do we want, how is it going to be, how will it be governed. These are the important questions that once answered will make the movement unstoppable. It is up to the youth to figure these out, but be warned many people will try to stop you. Now, back to the point made about sexuality. I do not believe it is a very pressing issue, but because you have raised the issue I would like to make my opinion clear. I believe sexuality should be accepted into the cultural norm of Khalistan. Human nature should not be suppressed, but at the same time there should be some self control. We should not have “red light” districts, but at the same time, male and female interaction should be encouraged. Now I ask you, is it better to have one person in power or a council, what would be the most effect way to get people into power (besides elections from the general population), how long should their term in power be for?
  3. Some of the problems that I see in western society today is due to the lack of belonging. People don’t feel as if they belong to anything important and as a result, lose interest in there community. I think the state should activily take part in the daily lives of its citizens and promote unity. Here are some ways that I think it may help. I think from a young age, all children should have a group or a unit to which they belong and do activities with after school and on weekends. These activities include exciting things like survival tactics, sports and monthly competition. At the same time they should also take part in community work like cleaning up parks and stuff. I think this will instill a deep love and respect for the state. TV (in my opinion) is a drug used to control the population and keep it content because most people in power realize the short comings of our current civilization. TV should not be banned, but most hours of a child’s life should be prescheduled so to limit the amount of television they view. I think elections should only be held for local level, jobs such as mayors and stuff. Once elected the mayor should have to live in the most poverty ridden part of his / her city or town. This is the only real way to combat troubled areas in a city. Today when a mayor is elected, they usually live in nice areas and say their going to help the bad parts of town, but seldom do they do this. If they lived in these troubled areas themselves, they would implement change very quickly (my opinion). I also believe that we should not have a President or a Prime Minister, but rather a council. This council should consist of members from various parts of society such as the military, scientific community, religions community, and so on. Each person on this council should have a PhD or excessive life in his or her respected field. Each person must be fully competent about the workings of a state (ie the role of the military and how it affects the business world and how that affects the working citizens, so on). The number I like is 5 but if need be more can be added as long as it’s an odd number. All federal level decisions should be made by this council, a majority would be needed for anything to pass. I haven’t really worked out how one would get onto this council, elected or appointed (but hopefully some of you can think of cleaver ways that avoid corruption). There should be 3 levels of police within Khalistan. One should be at the city level that deals with local crime. Another should be at the federal level that deals with federal level crime. The third should be for the government that actively watches all activities for corruption and miss use of public trust. The government should gear the state towards 4 main objects, they are, defense, economy, science and research, and space exploration. We must try to modernize military that should be top priority for the state. Second should be the economy, we should model ourselves after Japan. They are such a small country but are a economic giant. Next should be science and research, the state should actively promote and support the scientific community. The next is space exploration, this is very important because it is the future. Soon space will be weaponized and those who are in space will have the ability to destroy any state that isn’t. I know these ideas are wild and far fetched, but I think it is attainable. During Nazi rule of Germany, the Nazis promoted most of these things. As a result most of the world’s greatest innovations came from Germany at that time. The rocket, the first B-wing bomber plans are to name a few things. I know the Nazis did horrific things to the Jews, but that’s a different topic. I respect the way Germany became so focused on its tasks and worked brilliantly to achieve them.
  4. I would like to thank all those who have posted back to my post with intelligence and respect. Those who try to insult others “spineless Sikhs” only show there own ignorance and as a result, I will not be responding to them. It is clear that at some point my view has been lost, so let me clarify. I am in support of an independent Punjab, but at the same time do not want it to be an exclusive state only for Sikhs. I believe that the name Khalistan indirectly excludes others based on religion, hence I do not like the name (this is my opinion, and if anyone can give an educated argument for the name, I will reconsider my opinion). I also agree with those who have stated that the current state of Punjab India is not big enough to be a successfully country and a key world player. To re-unite both Punjabs (in my opinion) with force is not a real option because it would lead to years of war and terrorism. The first 10 years of Khalistan will be the most difficult, to spend it in a war will be a great setback and there is no guaranty we will win. So that only leaves one option, to include all residence of both Punjab into Khalistan as equals, much like Maharaja Ranjeet Singh did. When I say to make a push for Kashmir and Sindh, I say this becase A) the Khalistan I invision will not oppress people of other religions, so the majority Kashmiri Muslims will not fear being discriminated against and B) because whoever controls Kashmir controls the water in Pakistan and Northern India, it is vital that we “Sikhs / Hindus / Muslims of Khalistan” do so. The reason why I say we also make an effort for Sindh is because it will provide us with access to the ocean. This then leads into another question, of what type of government Khalistan should have. A democracy (majority rule) does not work, in my opinion. What ends up happening is the different political parties try to manipulate the general population with propaganda in hopes of there votes. The majority of people do not have the time to keep up to date with relevant information, so they fall victim to the false information. Communism leads to mass corruption and abuse of power. We must find a combination of the two to create an ideal state. There are many other question we must consider, but I’ll leave it at this for now. Those who have argued that this is all fictional and hence pointless, I say please do not respond then. After World War 1, no one thought Germany would ever re-immerge as a world power. In 1940, England seemed to be doomed, no nation thought it would survive. No one knows what will happen in the future and nothing is guaranteed. My opinions are my own and they may never come to pass, but I am voicing them in the hopes of starting an intelligent discussion. None of us know who anyone else is that posts on here, some may be freedom fighters who have lost a lot for the idea of Khalistan, to insult them because they do not agree with you is very disappointed.
  5. In my opinion, the first thing we need to lose is this idea that Hindus and Muslims are our enemies, they are our brothers. The idea that an independent Punjab (call it what you like) will only be home to Sikhs is small minded. Sikhs are not oppressors, when Maharaja Ranjit Singh ruled, he did not exclude Hindus or Muslims. Through out history there have been many great civilizations but very few that were tolerant of others. That is the difference between us and the governments that oppress us. If in the struggle for freedom, we start to act like our oppressors, then there is no point. We MUST hold onto our morals and values, only then will we be truly happy. Currently, the world is going through a period of change. This is similar the changes that took place just before the two world wars. Certain countries are emerging as global powers while others are doing anything and everything to keep the current world order in place. Within the next 50 years many things will change, but weather that means the emergence of an independent Punjab or not is questionable. Is there opportunity, yes, will we as a people take this opportunity, only time will tell. Social change is revolution, revolution is organization, if we as a people are not able to organize our thoughts and ideas we will, and also deserve to be left behind. I do not believe in the name of Khalistan because it by default excludes everyone else, just like Hindustan. But I will use it for now. For Khalistan to be successful, I believe we must obtain at first both sides of Punjab. Once we have that, we should make a push for Kashmir and then Sind. But the only way we will be successful at this is if we include all our brothers regardless of religion. Many people will argue that no Muslim or Hindu want to join a Khalistan. My answer to that is, they will if we had something better to offer them then what they have now. India and Pakistan also oppress there own communities not just the minorities. If Khalstan is truly free to everyone regardless of there religion, then we will have no problem expanding it.
  6. To discus if our people need to be free from oppression or not is foolish, the question answers itself. To say that we will not survive once we achieve independence from India is also meaningless, no one can predict the future and to be scared of something that may or may not happen is kind of funny. I have really given the idea of Khalistan or an independent Punjab some real thought. In my opinion we must first as a people answer these questions first I have several questions regarding Khalistan and will list them below, please answer them at your own convenience. 1.) What is the geographical location of the desired Khalistan? I as this because I am not sure if Sikhs want the state of Punjab as it is today or that state as it was after 1947, or do we also have want both East and West Punjab in Khalistan, or finally is Khalistan the area that was controlled by Raja Ranjit Singh 2.) What will the government of Khalistan be like? I ask this because many people are dissatisfied with democracies. They have many shortcomings that will restrict the growth of a nation. Communism is in the same situation with democracies. It would be best to develop a new system in-between, but I was wondering if there have been any serious discussions on this topic. 3.) How will the resources in Khalistan be distributed between its citizens? Currently in North America, less then 20% of the population control 80% of the resources. This is very unfortunate and (in my opinion) one the reasons why we do not move forward at the speed we should be. 4.) In the current Punjab Sikhs have a majority by 60%, but on both East and West Punjab they do not, it is the Muslims who have the majority. What measures can and should we take to insure Khalistan is a fair yet a Khalsa state?
