  1. So... I'm supposed to do a reading for our high school baccalaureate ceremony tomorrow and the theme is "Love Thy Neighbor." I've been looking for something related to brotherhood, because I'm sure "Love Thy Neighbor" isn't a major idea in any shabad, but I'm having trouble on my own.

Anyone have any ideas for the theme of brotherhood, or any other theme I may be able to pull off?

    Thanks so much in advance!!

  2. lol

    This is ridiculous

We should ask him what he thinks tongue.gif

Anyways, haven't had a chance to listen to that track yet, but this is my favorite track by him:

    http://www.akj.org/multimedia/Toronto/2007...7toro101sat.mp3

One year since he'd done keertan anywhere else (except a few select places). It was amaaaazing, and I especially love Master Niranjan Singh Ji in the background, but the recording is a bit messed up, it's hard to hear him as well as you could live.

  3. Alright guys, I'm doing a survey for my AP Government Class about everyone's involvement in politics, and I thought it'd be a great way to get a random sample of people by putting it online :s This is actually part of my exam, so your help will be much appreciated!

You'll probably want to be American, or else you might a have a trickier time with a few of the questions (not that you can do anything about that right now... lol). Also, if you guys feel uncomfortable about voicing your political views, etc, in public, just PM your survey results. Anyway, just fill in the blanks and go at it. Thanks in advance, guys!

    5. How about your family and politics?

    6. Do you discuss politics at home?

    7. Any interesting family political stories?

  4. Asavari and Asa are different raags...

Thanks for the book, I'll check it out :umm: I recently got really interested in learning keertan in raag so I'm trying to find good books, right now I've got the one by Giani Dyal Singh, it's awesome :umm: Thanks again.

  5. That's true but i m talking abt entering gurdwara sahib. Is topi a symbol of respect?

I doubt the bandannas are any better than a topi...

this is a different topic though, maybe we should make a new thread if you really wanna discuss this.

  6. I've already been to the info-sikhs site, thanks again though :umm:

And, no, none of the gw's in like MI anywhere have them

Where can I contact those stores you said though?

and THANKS SO MUCH DAL SINGH! :umm:

That's the first thing I've gotten by Bhai Nand Lal ever lol

I got really interested in finding his stuff after reading some of the (few) shabads of his in the Amrit Keertan.

  7. First off, I don't know the raags lol, just the taals.

And I skipped through the shabad... so I might've missed some stuff.

Well, the beginning is, I dunno, I think it's classified as a really slow ek taal, but it's not part of the shabad really, it's just his intro, right.

He starts the shabad in Dhadhra. He starts the antra in Roopak. He repeats this with the next asthaee and antra, but when he comes back to the asthaee again, he plays Kehrva, which fits in the Dhadhra tune every 3 times he plays it (8 x 3 = 24 = 6 x 4).

He goes to Sool Fakhta (I think) near the end of the second half of the asthaee thing and then back to the Dhadhra main line, but switches to and ends it in Teen Taal.

    Nice shabad :umm:

    Some terms...

    Asthaee - Chorus

    Antra - Verse

    Dhadhra 6 beats

    Roopak 7 beats

    Kehrva 8 Beats

Sool Fakhta 5 or 10 Beats

    Teen Taal 16 Beats

  8. Man.... If I were you, Kam1825, I wouldn't respond.

He's just posting the link, for our benefit. Why do people have to "hijack" threads and change the topic completely?

And isn't this an attack technically on Kam? Couldn't you have made a new thread for a general discussion on Namdharis being bad or whatever you believe in, Sarpanch?

And what's the point in QUOTING THE ONLY POST ON THE PAGE!

That too, ALL of the post?? Why??

It's just annoying, when huge threads are 80% full of repeated stuff.

Don't take this as a personal attack, I mean this all in general to everyone who does this stuff.

And I know this is actually quite hypocritical because I'm changing the topic too, but does it matter--it's already off topic from the second post...

  9. This should've had a poll, I think.

I play games like Halo when my friends have a get together or something, but other than that, I don't play any...

Though my friends always tell me to play WoW... I'm just hesitent because I used to be ADDICTED to Diablo II, a similar game made by the same company :umm: lol

Oh, I do CyberNations, but that's not a game :umm: hahahah anybody else have a nation?
