I was wondering if anyone knew much about Linux OS as i have heard from many sources that it is probably the best OS out there at the moment.

Why? From what i know its because:

>Its open source (i.e. its free)

>It is compatible with windows software and probably mac

>It looks a lot better - customised display settings by Linux programmers (again all open source so its free)

>It is the most secure OS available (i.e. against external threats - viruses, trojans..etc)

Thats what i know about Linux and i just wanted to know if anyone actually is using this operating system, as it is something i consider to upgrade to in the near future.

yeah that sounds abt right...........10gb per hour.

Try to get a SATA hard drive (serial ATA) as it has a higher data transfer rate than standard IDE and of course make sure your motherboard is SATA compatible. HDD are quite cheap now, i managed to find a Maxtor 250gb SATA Hdd for £90. A good graphics card is essential for video editing/transcoding...perhaps the new Radeon PCI express range with firewire port (for connecting to you camcorder) and yeah.....STACK UP THE RAM!

The original tape recordings have a lot of bass (which sounds quite good in the simran bits ), but the mp3 do not. When i play the tape in my car i'm sure people can hear the bass outside especially with bhai amolak singh playing tabla. A must listen for everyone!!!

I have panasonic camcorder (PV GS 15). Its a nice camcorder with nice features. After recording when i play  mini dv on TV, it gives me excellent quality but when I download it on computer (through firewire) using windows movie maker, the quality I get is very poor. I dont know where I am wrong. Can anybdy suggest me any other movie recorder except windows movie maker, which is capable of giving high resolution recorded movie?

Veer Jee, I recommend you using Sonic MyDVD 6 as it gives the best quality. Trust me..i must have gone through like 5 'brand' software and found that this software gives you the best quality and gives you flexibility on what quality you want to burn it as. The software burns your dvd to the edge which mean you get the best quality for the amount of footage you want to burn by using an innovative "fit to disc" feature. I also have a DV camcorder and as long as it looks clear in your lcd display, the quality on dvd will be just as good.

My AK-47 has some valid points about distinguishing between worshipping and just using pictures as a medium to educate sikh history. However, one must understand that it can also be very misleading. Our Gurus have thought us not to go after body and Guru Gobind Singh Jee made this work by claiming the Guru Granth Sahib Jee as the eternal Guru.

Veero/Bhen I read an article in the Sikh Times (uk one) about tragic car accident which resulted in the death of PC Pirthi Ralpal Singh Bedi. Why is this relevant to this topic well i recognised him and think it may have been the same person that was refereeing the gatka tournament in 2003 ( the one that did the amazing double-stick freestyle display). Can anyone clarify this.
