So paaji its ok to share the discourse (what the 5 asked you, what you replied etc) you had with the 5 on the internet?
0 -
I was asked "tusi kis tra aaye ho?", and they meant "Why have you come here?" to which you are supposed to respond "Amrit di daat praapat karan". I was mega nervous and thought they asked "How have you come", and almost was going to say "truck vich" . Thank God I didn't!
So it seems what I said about what happens in an Amrit Sanchaar being gupt has gone unoticed. Why don't we all share what happened when we all took amrit on the internet. Oh, we have already been doing that!

If a person wants to take Amrit, whats involved?
What questions will the panj piareys ask if any?
How should we dress ie 5k's?
What if we dont own a kirpan or kanga?
Do women have to wear a kachera too?
What if the persons husband/wife is not taking Amrit the same time?
What if a person starts crying during the Amrit ceremony?
Is the Amrit Sanskar carried out in front of al the Sangat?
Saadh Sangat jee, what happens in an Amrit Sanchaar sould be kept gupt, its between the 5 Pyaare and the relevant abhlaakhees. The person wishing to take amrit should be ready to give their head to Satguroo Sahib Sri Guroo Granth jee Maharaaj. What the 5 ask is up to the 5 (they can ask you anything they wish, for any reason possible). The abhlaakhee must be wearing his/her 5 kakaar (wooden Kanga; Sarbloh Kara; Sarbloh Kirpaan; revdaar, moriyan+naale vaalaa Kashera and Kes/Keski [depending on the maryada followed]) all of which must be adhered to by Singhs and Kaurs. As mentioned the Amrit Sanchaar is gupt and only those taking amrit (and peshi's) are present at the time. Any other questions (e.g. husband/wife not taking amrit etc) please ask the 5 infront of Guroo Sahib as no one person can give this information. Many of the replys above state information that should have been kept gupt, however basic the statements may seem.
Saying any of this, please forgive any offence I may have caused.

The requirements for a kakaari kirpaan is stipulated in most amrit sanchaars, if not ask the panj when you take amrit who will clarify this for you.
To what I know your kakaari kirpaan (that you wear as your kakaar to do bhog/rakhya etc with) should be made of one piece of sarbloh (the blade and handle should not be 2 peices joined together) and practical in use e.g. the handle should be big/thick enough for a good grip.
As aforementioned, in most amrit sanchaaars the above requirements along with a minimum size e.g. 9inches (3inch handle, 6inch blade) to wear always is usually given as rehat.
Please add to this if need be Saadh Sangat Jee.
(added after) I also have heard (not sure) that your kirpaan shouldn't be sharp on both sides which makes it a khandaa type shaster, so a kataar would be invalid, thats why a kataar is called a kataar...because its not a kirpan.

I agree with the Gurdwara policy and the premi's who have posted on this topic that if you call yourself a 'Gursikh' (I think my friend should research the term Gursikh because its not to be used so loosly) but don't accept that you must atleast have Singh and Kaur in your name (aswell as living the life of a Sikh), then your lieing to yourself and others by calling yourself a Sikh.
Another point, you keep on stating that your wife is also a 'Gursikh' but on the other hand your stating she is a 'Ravidassian,' so what is she then? Is she a Sikh? Because if she is then she's not a 'Ravidassian'
Also I feel couples want an Anand Karaj (because its something they have to do), without even knowing what the Anand Karaj ceremony actually means and its significance in a Sikhs life.
Are you sure your partner is a Sikh and not a Ravidassian? And do you know what the Anand Karaj is about and who Satguru Sahib Sri Guroo Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj is to you?
If your offended then I'm sorry, but these are basic Sikh principles

Beautiful, just beautiful. I cannot wait.

To what I know, that looks like a Kirpaan made at Bhindran. I maybe wrong, I'm sure other members of the Sangat can shed some light on your query.

I don't know if 5' 4" is correct. I heard in kathaa that Mataa Sahib Kaur was 6ft and Maharaaj was 6' 2" I think it was kathaa by Gyaani Thakur Singh at Baba Sang Guroo Ghar maybe a year ago about 1984.
Also 6th Paatshaa, I heard was close to 7ft but its hear say. I guess if one looks at his chola and kashera you would get a better idea.
Also cannot recall where I heard this one but apparently 10th Paatshaa's bunga was tall, something like 18 inches.
Don't quote me on anything I just posted, its just what I have come across over time. Only those who have had the darshan of our fathers could tell you from what they have actually seen.

LOL @ "mummy"
Good luck finding the perfect material.

Saadh Sangat jee, from experience I would say Mal Mal is the thinnest material. I've not come across anything thinner and to be honest I don't think material thinner than Mal Mal would be very good anyway.
Bhai Hardeep jee I think as with most dastaar materials they are always hard to begin with. I use Mal Mal and to get it soft so its easy to tie I wash it a couple of times or soak it in fabric softner (ask your mummy for that).
Mal Mal is very good but as I say, needs to get soft first. Hope this helps.

OMG! LOL I was looking for ages to find what the Sangat are talking about. OK I found it now after re-reading the first post.
I doubt Kelish has been to darbaar sahib, her 'image advisors' or some <banned word filter activated> role like that have probably found this picture on the net and thought 'that looks nice, lets use it for our website about whatever this website is about.'
It looks random. And the music is WHACK!

Who is going to the demonstrations in Birmingham and Southall?
It will be good if as man people go as possible, maybe the news will reach Panjaab of Western Rallys by Sikhs and show our support?

Jassa/Sunny or any of the other India Sangat, please could you inform us if there is any sort of media blackout? Or is everything being reported fine. E.g. TV channels and news giving coverage etc..
An earlier post stated there was some sort of network failiure or deliberate stoppage of media being aired.
Please could somebody clarify or give any news on this, thank you.

Excellent idea. An application like SikhiWiki available offline so one can take their laptop and use the information on such websites without having to go online (useful for non-wireless Gurooghars etc).
