but this sounded to radical i mean it goes against everything sikhi says..

amardeep ur saying things that r bad u should leave out...so that means if someone doesnt agree with one of guru gobind singh ji's hukams they can leave them out n not follow em? hmmmmm

sikhi has answers for everything nothing is left out

...that said, I personally see no issue in wearing jewellery...sure the rehitnama says so, but is this the rehitnama you follow? Or are you simply picking bits and pieces that suit your stance (which for you is fine, not necessarily for everyone else though)...

For me this ongoing "which rehit nama issue" is 'simply' addressed as follows...is the Chaupa Singh (or any other) rehitnama a timeless text like the Sri Guru (not that Maharaj is simply a text) or is it a practical application of basic practical elements, minimum criteria if you will, for the Khalsa Panth at the prevailing time and conditions?

Consider too the following items from the same rehit nama...(taken from Chaupa Singh Rahitnama, original manuscript, Sikh Reference Library, Sambat 1821, (1765 CE), item number, 506.

“Sword baptism is not to be administered to women”

(and again from same rehit nama but taken from Rahitname by Piara Singh Padam):

Darbar sikhan de lagge vich maaee da jama, pothi Granth Sahib na parhe, sune sahi

In a congregation of Sikhs, the female gender, should not read the scripture Granth Sahib, she may listen alright. (page 106)

Gur ki sikhni maili hoike na parsad pakai na khawai

    Guru

's female sikh, if mensurating should neither cook food nor serve food. (page 107)

Personally, the Sri Guru is the ultimate rehitnama, the ultimate and timeless guide...

  4. Isingh i think ur getting ur wires crossed

    i was being sarcastic

yeh but rashpal he didnt mean it in a good way his intentions were still wrong

am i the only bloody one on here that can read inbetween the lines? lol

Akhal Sikh Association ? u must be joking if thats sikhi active then im the queen of england

  5. even if they don't admit it some people on here have hatred for singh sabha bradford...

and how dare master p call singh sabhaz singhnia n singhs militant i bet u havnt even had one conversation with them n yet ur judgin them

or is it the way we dress or the fact that we don't hold diwali parties or the fact we dnt allow inapropriate behaviour in gurudwara?

  6. all the ppl responsible r living in big mansions with no worries, enoying life..i saw one on tv smilin away felt like bashin his face in...that really ticks me off they can be killed if we really wanted to im sure of it

  7. the thing ppl do not realise is the indian gorvernment was very clever in the dehli massacre..

as we know most rss members wear dastaara n have a dhari..does that make them sikhs? no

well thats what happend in 84 the indian leaders got dastaar valai to commit terrorist crimes so it looked like sikhs were the dangerous ones

basically they were looking for excuses to attack sikhi

BTW- dnt u lot think indra ghandi was so thick i mean after operation blue star she had 2 sikh bodygaurds haha not a very gud idea isit

  8. im sure we've had a similar topic...anyway i agree 2 flowing beard looks so cool....ppl think tied beard looks more smart n clean i think it jus makes singhs look older than they really r

    read this....

The only reason of tying the beard, agree or disagree, is FASHION. Some people argue that we tie our head hair (kesh), why can't we tie our beards? To equate heard hair with beard, in this case, is absolutely ridiculous. But they forget that we tie turban on hour HEARD, not on our beard. If they want to tie beards, in my opinion, they should start bearing turbans on their beards also. Flowing beard is the sign of saintliness.I have never seen a sant with tied beard ( i am not saying all the people with flowing beards are sants).

I have seen some non-sikhs with long flowing beards. I saw a a postman, with long flowing beard (a white man), and an old construction worker with beautiful white long beard. These peole do not tie their beards even at work. The reason is, as I think, they LOVE their beards and grow them under no pressure. As Sikhs (not all Sikhs), we feel beards don't look good and attractive, but we cannot cut them either because of religion (in other words, religious pressure), so why not to tie them? This is where the thought of tying the beard originates from. We are becoming more and more narrow minded. In this case, tying the beard, in my opinion, is absolutely equal to trimming it.

  9. i was talking to one of my friends the other day n they said that sum1 told them a true story i dunno if it is but i thought i'd share it with u lot anyway...

there was a serial killer praying on women across a certain part of england (cnt remember wat part) raping n then killing them. one winter night a gursikh singhni was walking back from work bcaz her work place was near her home it was pretty dark.

she totally 4got that there was this killer on the lurk, the road she usually walked on was blocked so she had to go through this narrow alleyway. while walking she saw a man waiting in a corner n she rememberd hearing about a killer she started 2 do ardaas n walked towards the end of this small road. the singhni walked straight past him he never touched her..

later on at home she got in touch with the poilce telling them what had happend, the killer got caught n she found out it was the same man...

the police asked the killer why didnt u attack the singhni n he goes i wasn't gna go near her she had these two big guys with turbans on walking behind her..

even tho this may not be true still makes me feel protected
