  1. this sounds like brahmin bhaat to me...its jus cloth that covers ur body doesnt make u a better gursikh if one wearz green

..yes i know that der r certain colours khalsa gursikhs wear but shouldnt we concentrate on getting our inner self right first?

why follow such superstition..by wearing such colours we shall not get any more higher in our jeevan stop this nonsense talk

this hindu dude once told my mum to keep away from the colour red n i thought hinduz were bad with rituals n stuff...

wear wateva colour pleases u dnt go round telling anyone else wat they shud n shuld not wear.

true is the food, and true are the clothes of those who chant the true naam of the true one.

  2. i know singh sabha bradford really well and i think they made a right choice to split from leeds road gurudwara, leeds road gurudwara has no sangat....i've gone der a couple of times there is no sangat at all just guys girls hangin around outside like their at some club the only people i saw sittin in the darbaar sahib were old people... :T:

loads of ravidaas youth come to singh sabha..which other gurudwara would let this happen?

i hav heard some bad things also about leeds road camp but i don't wanna get into that...

With leeds road, we had a clash when they decided to support right Hindu extremists, who openly speak against sikh Gurus, and sikhs. What I have realised that these people running these gurdwaras have no interest in Gurmat or Panth. They are just interested in their own egos, and pindoo politics. He said this to me, and he is like that.
thats very true only singh sabha took a strong stand while leeds road lot didn't even give a damn as they supported it..and might i add that this hindu mandir has the biggest RSS members in it
    Only those with youth wil

l survive, which are Singh sabha Bradford, and Chapeltown leeds. The rest from their own predjudices, lack of gurmat education and support, and anti-gurmat practices are finishing themselves.

loads of people have become gursikhs by meeting the sangat at these gurudwaraz..

  5. sangato i read this on another forum n wanted 2 know your views.......

I've always hated patkas and lately I've come to understand why they are a BIG curse for all Sikhs.

Firstly, a patka is not a dastaar and I have no clue where it came from. It's not a keskee either. It looks like a ball on one's head. When I wore one, I had genuinely concerned people asking my mother if I had a head injury. It looks like some kind of growth on the head. A dastaar is understandable to an observer: it's a turban. But what on earth is a patka???

2ndly, I've noticed amongst older youth, that boys as they grow older never give up the patka (perhaps because of it's 'convenience') and more and more I've noticed that patka wearing youth who grow beards shave/trim their beards. This is of course understandable. A Singh with a thick beard and patka looks ridiculous, so to maintain the 'boyish' look, they shave. I noticed a young man today who also shaved the back of his head below his patka line. Yesterday I saw a person who decided to do his joora on the back of his head and tie a new style patka. He too had a shaved beard.

I say we should do away with patkas for anyone over the age of 5 and if possible, do away with them completely.

Even for girls who're amritdhari and wear "patkas", it hardly reflects a Sikh image. Admittedly it's better than a chunee but the patka really has no basis in Sikh dress. It looks more Islamic. Dastaar is the Sikh dress and the person wearing it genuinely looks impressive and royal.

Overall, I really dislike Patkas. Just my thoughts.
