  1. Interfaith Event Partnership a Success! Posted by: KielC | Posted on: May 26 2017 On Wednesday, May 24 Palatine Library had the privilege of partnering with the Sikh Religious Society to invite the community to an Interfaith Discussion about Holy Books, hosted at the Sikh Gurdwara in Palatine. We had a full house and guests were delighted to visit and learn more about different religious books, as well as share in a vegetarian meal provided by the Sikh Society. We are so grateful to our speakers for their engaging presentations and educating us about their holy books. We learned that despite our diverse backgrounds and beliefs, there are many similarities and common themes of peace and goodwill throughout each teaching. Photos from the event on Flickr Many thanks to our speakers and moderator: Rabbi Steve Hart, Temple Chai in Long Grove (Torah); Pastor Joel Lohafer, Christ Lutheran in Palatine (Bible); Dr. Sabeel Ahmed, Islamic Society of Northwest Suburbs in Rolling Meadows (Qur’an); Chirag Barot, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Chicago (The Bhagavad Gita); Iris Wang, Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association in Mount Prospect (Buddhist Tripitaka); and Dr. Balwant Singh Hansra, Sikh Religious Society in Palatine (Guru Granth Sahib). Father Corey Brost, C.S.V., co-founder of The Children of Abraham Coalition, moderated the discussion. http://www.palatinelibrary.org/news/interfaith-event-partnership-a-success
