  1. Community Moving Forward - Helmet Exemption Public · Meet-up · Hosted by Sikh Motorcycle Club of Ontario 9 April at 11:0014:00 in EDT Brampton City Hall 2 Wellington Street West, Brampton, Ontario L6Y 4R2 Sikh Motorcycle Club of Ontario was established in June 2013. One of our primary objectives is to advocate for the right of turban-wearing Sikhs to ride a motorcycle in Ontario, as they are permitted to do in British Columbia, Manitoba, the United Kingdom and many other jurisdictions across the world. Over the last forty-five years, Sikhs in Ontario have advocated for legislative recognition of the turban. The Sikh community has worked with successive governments in order to seek this recognition, which includes enacting a regulation or legislation which would permit turban-wearing Sikhs to ride a motorcycle in Ontario. As of yet, the Government of Ontario has not granted this legitimate exemption, despite the numerous and long-standing precedents in Canada and across the world. This is an issue of respect, equality, fairness and equity. Once again, we are initiating the process to co-ordinate our efforts in order to seek this exemption. In order to have a meaningful strategy, we must discuss and dialogue with all stakeholders, community groups and political parties at both the provincial and federal levels, and also with the Government of Ontario. You are requested to attend. Source - https://www.facebook.com/events/1723753411180202/
  2. Boarding Pass a play by The Virsa Group directed by Navneet Kaur "Sir, you will need to go to Secondary Screening." "Why, what did I do?" With the news of Waris Ahluwalia being banned from his flight from Mexico to New York and Jasmeet Singh (Jus Reign) being asked to remove his turban; The Virsa Group has come together to create a play looking at what the Secondary Screening process looks like for Sikhs. The Virsa Group is comprised of children ranging from ages 6 - 17 years. They are a group of children who have come together to study and learn Sikh heritage, culture, history, and prayers with their parents in Brampton. For many this is their first performance and look forward to performing during Sikh Heritage Month.
