  1. Dhan Baba Fateh Singh Ji De Janam Deyareh Diyan ?? Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh The greeting Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh is to be exchanged whenever two Sikhs meet each other. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji has said, My face will be towards that person who says it first. My back will be towards that person who says it afterwards. I will be in between both of them, if both of them says it together. Hence, in order to spread the message of brotherhood, we should say Fateh together. The significance of Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh can be found in Gurbani. We can break each word down to find a simple meaning Wahe great Guru dark to light ji respect (similar to saying sir or madam) ka belongs to khalsa brotherhood, humanity fateh victory The meaning of this phrase is that the Brotherhood belongs to Waheguru and Victory upon the Lord. This is a simple way of teaching the basics of Sikhi. However if we delve deeper into Gurbani, the word Waheguru is used to specify God. The basic definition of Waheguru is as given below in the Mool Mantar: There is but One God His Name Is Truth He is the creator He is without Fear He is without Hatred The Truth is a Timeless/shapeless Form The Truth does not go through the cycle of birth and death The Truth is Self Existent By The Gurus Grace The Truth is Obtained Recite He was True in the beginning He was True in the Primal Age He is True now Also O Nanak [says Nanak] True Shall Waheguruji be Forever. For specifying the name of God, the word Akal Purkh or Waheguru have been used in Sikhi. There are countless names by which Akal Purkh have been used in Gurbani. The second part of this greetings says, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. That means the victory, or achievement, belongs to Waheguru and not to any person. This greeting completely eliminates the ego from the person who is saying, as well as who is listening. Once ego is gone, then one can achieve anything in life. There is another psychological effect of using the word Fateh. When a person utters the word Fateh, an inherent impression is created in his mind to always strive for success. This becomes one‟s habit, to always work hard to achieve the set goals. Hence, the person always remains in Chardi Kala. This is the reason, why Sikhs could sacrifice for the sake of their religion and successfully complete difficult tasks, which normal persons may not have the capacity to achieve.
