The Sikh community of the Lehigh Valley was celebrating the 548th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion and apostle of peace, on Sunday when news of the massacre at the First Baptist Church in south Texas broke.
It immediately reminded the congregation of the recent massacres at the Milwaukee Sikh temple, the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ outside Nashville and the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C. We pray for the innocent victims and their families.
It puzzles every peaceful devotee of God that, in a nation where the motto is "In God We Trust," we permit the massacre of innocent worshipers. How many innocent lives lost do we have to endure before we can control the automatic weapons from the hands of the insane people?
We don't need "thoughts and prayers" from our leaders, we need action.
