    Veerji,

?? you're basically repeating what I said - considering them as our siblings before marriage.

Wouldn't that, to some extent, be considered a form of incest?

  2. at school yesterday, one of my Christian freinds was having a debate over gay /lesbian with her class, when she came up with "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve"

and it never existed long time ago, hmm why now?

That's one misconception about gays/lesbians. Homosexuality is NOT a new phenomenon in our society. It has been seen as far back as the 14th century, and even earlier. Also, the famous saying "God made Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve" was not made up by your friend. tongue.gif That's an old line actually!

    How can we get Khalistan?

That is like delving into the mysteries of the ladoo. LOL.gif But seriously, there's so much confusion about Khalistan and a thick line of division.

Worry about bettering yourself and contributing to your Sikh community. :TH:

How can you look at a fellow Sikh as your sister/brother before marriage, and then totally change your mindset into thinking he/she is your partner once you two are married?

In essence, we are marrying our brother/sister?

    :T:

guys please lets stop arguing, there is just way too much tenson on this forum, im guilty of it too but, we (sikhs) have got way too many enemys so we dont need to become enemys between our selves, instead of loads of heated arguments eg.sant ji alive or not, caste system, etc. lets have more topics like poems and sakhis and more links to kirtan and katha.

i dont know i just felt i had to get this out

bhull chuk maaf if i offended anyone blush.gif

There's nothing wrong with opposing opinions as long as the conversation is carried out in a civilized manner.

  6. Love for God is constant. God will never cheat on you, God will never leave you, God will never stop loving you.

People cheat on each other, people lie to each other, people say they 'love' someone but that love shatters when they separate on bad terms. When you grow old and your spouse dies, the love is gone. Therefore, the only true love is that of love for God.

  7. firstly, gay/lesbian people were an accident, and they have no place in this world. as for boyfriend girlfriend relationships, i just have to say that anyone i know that is sikh that lives near me and does this sort of , ill beat them till they are blacker than a tamil. if my brother was to do it, id shoot him :e:

Scarface, you are a testament to the stupidity in the Sikh/Punjabi community.

I want to know the sangats view on the topic which was disscussed in my college's Annual funtion under the banner of 'Red-Hot Issuses'. The topic of the discussion was  "Would this world have been a better place to live, had there not been any mainstream Religion?"

I would request everyone in the group to please contribute to it. "And please be careful not to make it a Big-Fight  wacko.gif " which it had become in my college.

    Fateh

What college do you go to? :T:

To answer the question, I don't think the world would be a better place without mainstream religion! If that was the case, the world would not have a body of beliefs and rituals to follow that gives people their identity. We would be lost and confused about matters related to divinity. Where would be find a set of moral principles and guidelines? How would we distinguish between right and wrong? Anarchical governments would reign. Keep in mind the rights we have today were accorded to us by the Constitution, which in turn were influenced

    by religion.

One thing I noticed is that most religions tell us to treat each other with respect and equally. By asking would this world be a better place without mainstream religion, you would have a world where the ideals of equal treatment and respect are not present in our thoughts and culture. Respect for humanity, equality and all that other stuff originated from religious thought.

  9. Unfortunately, they forgot about the thousand or so Sikhs living in France.  As soon as the Sikhs were notified that this law would apply to all in France, they fought back with all their might and efforts and have been doing so since.

I don't think they forgot about the Sikh community in France. They simply didn't know Sikhs existed there in the first place.

I believe the individual who drafted the laws was quoted as saying "There are Sikhs living in France?" Something along those lines.

Bhain ji, we've had this debate aswell, and it is true that there are a lot of politics here in the gurudwaras. We came to the conclusion that we go to the gurughar and matha tekh and contribute, when we go to India we do the same thing.

I've decided that the 10% that I will be taking out when i start working (hopefully soon) will go to sponser a child in need.

Or what some people do is they save their money then  find out if there is someone in India who's daughter is getting married or is trying to get an education, and are tight with money, and they give it to them or go and buy her something, her wedding lehnga if its a wedding or books that she may need if shes in school. This way they make sure that the money is being used for good and to help someone.

In the end, its what u feel is right.

    Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

That's awesome! I like what you do witht he money in India. I was planning on sponsoring a child as well.

I do agree with politics in the gurdwara's, and judging by what's going on with gurdwara 'management' these days I don't feel comfortable donating to them knowing that my money will fuel greed and corruption, but I do so anyways because they need

money to keep the facilities running. They're like a bunch of pirates scuttling money from the devotees.

Hmm, speaking of pirates. Has anyone seen the Pirates of the Carribean? Sony, have you seen it? You know, the movie with all those pirates? ARgh Matey?

    LOL.gifLOL.gif

    - Sunny, soon to be slaughtered by Sony bibi ji

P.S. I fear for my life, the pirates are comign to get me!!

  12. Google's Internet Explorer Toolbar also has spyware, if you have that installed I highly recommend you uninstall it!

You guys say there's nothing to fear, we have nothing to hide. This day in age you never know what'll happen. After September 9/11, hundreds of innocent Muslims in the United States, who were American by birth or held American citizenship, were detained against their will and denied the right to see a lawyer and held in prison for God knows how many months until the Americans realized they were not involved with the dreadful attacks.

I too have taken measures to block e-mails originating from g-mail accounts.

So go ahead, send your e-mails to your loved ones while Big Brother watches. I for one will not stand for that.
