1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Hello Everyone, my name is Sunny and I am a Grade 7 teacher in the Peel District School Board. I humbly request a translation in Punjabi of the following for a project we are working on. Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fateh! Make the Ruth Thompson Promise" We believe in service, citizenship, good will towards others and helping each other be successful. We have high standards for all. 2. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh Greetings Sangat, My name is Sunny and I am a 23 year old Sikh boy who has posted on this forum in the past. I am currently looking for accomodation with a Sikh family within the Mississauga area, in particular the Erin Mills or surrounding area. If anyone knows of any families willing to accomodate me for a few weeks replies would be greatly appreciated. I am not looking for a free place to live and will provide rent. I am an easy to live with guy who will be working the typical 9-5 job as a primary K-6 teacher. If you have any children I would be more than glad to assist them with school work. I do not go out much and am usually to myself most of the time. Currently I am in India and will be returning to Canada on Feb 18th. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. THank you in advance. Fateh, - Sunny Jatana sunnyjatana@gmail.com MSN: sunnyjatana@hotmail.com
3. I am very glad to hear about your marriage because: a)I wouldn't want a wife who did not support my faith. b)The fact that she dislikes your new path in life and will divorce you for that reason sickens my heart. I am extremely glad because you have a newfound love for Sikhi and your wife will miss out on a fantastic life. Atleast you know she wasn't meant for you. Keep your head up high, - Sunny
4. Sorry, how does this news affect Sikhi? The world continues to orbit the sun, the Universe continues on with the creation of planets and life. Not even the RSS can stop that. Stop giving them the attention they don't deserve
5. There is nothing wrong with keeping the Koran in your home in the absence of the Guru Granth Sahib.
6. I'm sorry, but no religion is distinct as long as they continue to be institutionalized and confined to rules.
7. Less detail? I didn't not produce any detail whatsoever in my previous post. I expect members on this board to be mature, act mature and be able to discuss topics in a civilized manner. I have not disrespected our Guru's, read my post carefully. This is a common problem on this forum. People try to read between the lines but fail miserably and totally misinterpret the message.
8. You can't get rid of lust. It's part of human nature. The challenge is learning to control it. Keep in mind our Guru ji's needed some degree of lust to reproduce. There had to be a sexual craving in their minds to be aroused before conception.
9. What is the point of this topic? Are you trying to pretend Sikhs and Muslims get along so well?
10. I am commending Kiran for finding religion as an alternate path to her life.
11. Your friend has identified the problem and it is up to him only to do the right thing.
12. Hello, I just wanted to point something out. The emotions we experience while listening to any form of music, even Naam Simran, are influenced by the musical instruments used and of course the tone of the music itself. Sounds can be used in this way to bring out certain emotions. What happens in the end I think is a state of self-indulgence. People cry or get very emotional, especially when they feel confused with reality.... Just my 2 cents. Kiran it seems you have discovered an alternate path. I commend you! - Sunny
13. it is good to be a challenge. makes sikhs even stronger. dont look at who this question is coming from just think about what u would say to that. yes those sacrifices were practical because the outcome of them was very effective 116217 What's your point? Your post did not make any sense whatsoever. 116347 the point is u shouldnt be saying "cant post that on a sikh message board" cause if u cant even take something that goes against it then u have no strength... 116528 Your reasoning in mind-boggling, Jassika. Is hair practical? That's what you basically asked. Now examine the significance of keeping hair in Sikhi. It's valued so much it's mere existence cannot be challenged. However, I would expect someone like you to ask that question, considering you broke your amrit. My apologies..

15. "Are Beards Practical - they seem like they'd get in the way when eating and stuff." Are you kidding me? how can you pose such a question on a Sikh message board. Were all those sacrifices made by our people practical?
16. No, you read my post again. I answered your question .. read it again if you have trouble comprehending my post. I figured you would be smart enough to get the gist. You are wrong for thinking that, I didn't realize I had to say it straight out for you when the nature of my post gave a clear cut answer. The actions and scenarios are not condoned by our religion but it still happens, why? What can religion do for these people? They need to come to a self-realization of what they are doing and there's nothing Sikhi can do to change their minds. It's all in their heads. Sikhi is a choice and it's up to these people to sieze it. We should be more concerned about the youth rather than the adults, as the younglin's are the future of our community. You talk as if this internal rife in our religion is something new. But has our religion faltered whatsoever? Nope. These internal problems, such as in-fighting, have been developing for many years yet Sikhi is still strong. Our religion has faced many barriers since its conception yet it's growing. All religions face such problems. There will always be opposing views and no one religion can run smoothly. We're human after all, not Gods. So why are you indulging? There's no use involving religion in your situation and losing hope. Like I said, it's just a case of bad people who think backwards. Sure, we have issues in our religion. But indulging in the problems of present-day Sikhism and relating it to your situation is just wierd, considering all the stuff you talked about totally contradicts what SIkhi advocates. Therefore, as I stated earlier, your problems are simply a case of bad culture and backward minded people. Religion should not have even been introduced in the equation. All that stuff you discussed is inherent to culture only, well in my opinion ...
17. Relax, champ. If someone came knocking on my door I would kindly invite them in my house and serve them cha and ladoo's. Learn about who they are and what they want to do, then explain to them you are a Sikh until the day you die.... a nice way of putting them down....wiping your @ss with silk  You should not frown upon the intentions of the missionaries, cuz if your faith in Sikhi is strong nothing can sway it :TH:
18. The essence of Sikhism is not diluted because the people you speak of and the scenarios you described are by no means condoned by our religion. Your post pretty much describes the negative aspects of our culture and people. Don't associate all that garbage with Sikhi. It's just a matter of bad people who think like coconuts. The moment someone "hijacks" Sikhism all value and bliss is lost, especially by those who claim to be a part of particular castes, drink and eat meat in the same household showing beautiful portraits of our Guru's.
19. Are you so narrow minded? A kara on a Muslim wrist cannot be classified as a "kara" or share the importance of kakkar. You failed to realize the deeper meaning of my statement "it's nothing more than a piece of metal" on a Muslim wrist. The gift of Guru Gobind Singh Ji was handed down for Sikhs to wear. If a Muslim wears something similar to that, what problem do you have with it? Understand they are Muslims and not Sikhs. Therefore, you cannot attach any religious value to the kara-like object they wear. If you were so devoted to this religion you shouldn't even be identifying the object on a Muslim wrist as a kara, because it's plainly obvious that a kara is a kara for a devoted Sikh. I wear a metal bracelet on my wrist. I don't consider a kara because I am not a devoted Sikh. It is a fashion statement more than anything, or something cultural. Instead of complaining about Muslims insulting the "kara", you all should be worrying about the Punjabi alcoholics who devalue this object. Like I said earlier, think about yourself first how you can improve in the eyes of God. Are we going to go after the white majority next and accuse them of wearing white pajama's under their pants? Paaji/Paanji, your ignorance amuses me. - Sunny
20. lol.. I am astounded at these replies.. A Kara on a Muslim wrist is nothing more than a piece of metal. Simple. Stop worrying about it and learn to improve yourself in the face of Sihki.
21. Oh man . . this sounds awesome... if I wasn't in Australia I would definately be there!!! Have fun without me - Sunny
22. Your post implied you're missing a woman, sorry if I am wrong? Anyways, I know how you feel. I've been there, until I realized it was stupid to feel that way and I really wasn't alone. Right now I'm living life and making the best of it without these feelings of lonliness. You should too! I'm all the way in Australia and I have no family here. I think about God everyday and just the thought of him keeps my heart warm. If there's one entity that will never leave you it's God. You're not alone, so why are you feeling this way? You have no reason to feel lonely. God has given you a loving family, a great group of friends and a good standard of living. There are millions of real lonely people out there - you're not one of them. Don't let these thoughts pre-occupy your mind because thinking or crying about it will not improve the situation. You can think all you want, but the reality is you'll still be the way you are and nothing will change. You're a 22 year old Singh and you're letting this keep you down? Come on mate...enjoy the life God has given you. Keep your head up high, Singh.
23. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh Hello Everyone, Does anyone know what reference Sikhi makes to ghosts? Cheers, - Sunny :e:
