  1. Sabad Hazare EIK ONKAR SATGUR PARSADI ONE ALL PERVADING CONSISTENT LORD, UNION WITH HIM BY HIS GRACE I RAMKALI, PATSHAEI Xth O my mind, when you will realize the Quintessence of the Divine abiding in you, and attain to Him this way, you will not get affected by the evil instincts of wrath, greed, obstinacy and attachments. (3) Practice renunciation, considering your homestead as if to be living in a forest, as a detached person. Continence be your matted hair, your contemplation of Him as your ablution, and disciplined conduct be your long nails. The Divine Knowledge and His Guidance be the Guru; and the Divine Love be the ashes to be rubbed on the body. (1) Ever cherishing Forgiveness, Compassion and love for all within you; while eating and sleeping sparingly, be the aim of life. The good conduct of contentment be your companion, ever rising above the Three Modes of Maya. (2) II Ramkali Patshaei Xth O my mind, practice Yoga in this way. Make Truth your horn, to be totally devoid of deceit be your necklace, and contemplation be the ashes to smear the body. (1. Pause). Your concentration of mind be your one stringed instrument, and your begging bowl be the Divine Love. With the striking of the strings of concentration of mind on the Divine, the Supreme Melody of Love and Devotion will be created. Thus Quintessence, of Love and Songs of Wisdom will arise. Both the angels and the demons will be surprised on hearing the Melody, and our good self will be filled with joy. (2) By living with the Divine within oneself, he will be enriched with the Divine Knowledge of Wisdom; will lead a Disciplined life by always remaining in tune with the Lord. He will thus lead a healthy life, free from ailments, and also attain the salvation (from the cycle of repeated deaths and births). III Rag Ramkali, Patshaei Xth O man, fall on the Feet of the Supreme Being. Why do you remain asleep in the intoxication of varied attachments of Maya? Wake up and look to the Reality. (1. Pause) You preach others, while you remain ever ignorant like quadruped. What is the use of accumulation of the costly material things? Abandon the way of sinful life. (1) Except the Divine Love, consider all works leading you to the darkness. Engage yourself toward observance of the Moral Law (Dharma). Thus accumulate the wealth of the Divine Love, and stay away from sinful life. (2) Live ever with God, which way make you rise above all sins and pains connected therewith. You will thus break the noose of Death. The Lord God's Name gives peace to all at all times; remain ever absorbed in Him. (3) IV Rag Sorath, Patshaei Xth O Lord, my honor is in Your Hands. Lord, You are Blue throated and Blue dressed (epithets of Shiva), Man Lion (Nar Singh Avtar), Master of Waters (Narayan), Banvari (Vishnu). (1. Pause) O Pure One, The Sublime, Transcendent, Master of all, Who lives on nothing. O Master of Maya (The Great Illusion - Satanic), The Great Enlightener, Destroyer of Tyranny and Pride, The Great Emancipator of All (1) Lord, You are without sins, All Perfection, Never asleep, Without ant Defects and never undergoes sufferings, the Savior of all from falling into hell. O Ocean of Mercy, The Knower of every one's past, present and future; and the Destroyer of Evil. (2) O Supreme Archer, the Wielder of Sword, The Support of Earth, I have come to take refuge of Your Lotus Feet. Give me Your Hand and ferry me across the Ocean of Existence. V Rag Kalyan, Patshaei Xth Except the Creator Lord, do not accept any one as your Savior. He is the Primal Being, Unborn, Unconquerable, and Eternal. Accept Him alone, to be the Lord of all. (1. Pause) What great thing is it, when god Vishnu took birth and annihilated a few demons? By staging such a show, he got himself advertised to be the Supreme in the world. (1) O No, it is Almighty God above all, Who is All Powerful, to create and destroy anything, and He is Casteless. He is the Sword of All Time, whom He strikes, none can save him. (2) O ignorant one, listen. The one who has drowned himself in this vast ocean of existence, how can he save you from drowning? You can cross the ocean of existence, only when you will surrender yourself to the Creator Lord and take His refuge. (3) VI A THOUGHT (Khyal) Patshaei Xth O my Love, listen to the plight of Your devotees. Separation from You Lord is - Just like covering of a diseased quilt in cold weather to feel warmth; It is just like living in high mansions, but invested with cobra snakes; Drinking water from a pot, pierces like a lance; And the cup strikes like a dagger; Eating meat is like being hit by butcher's knife. O Love, to be with You, I would prefer to sleep on the bare hard ground; while cursed is the living with others in Your forgetfulness. VII Tilung Kafi, Patshaei Xth The Lord is the Creator of All Time. The Infinite Lord, Who has no beginning and no end, He alone is both the Creator and the Destroyer. (1. Pause) For Him Praise and Slander have no effect. He has neither any friend, nor any foe. Then what problem could the Lord have to become the charioteer of Arjuna? (1) Also, why He was called the son of Devaki? He Who is the Creator of gods and the demons, Who pervades in all directions, and Whose Expanse is in the whole of Universe. If you call Him as 'Murari' (the Destroyer of demon Murar); this is surely Not His whole praise, whereas in reality you are lowering His status. VIII Rag Bilawal, Patshaei Xth How can the Lord God be in human form, of any limitations? The Sidhas in their meditations became weary of their practices, but could not see Him (1. Pause) Narda, Vyasa, Prasara and Dhruv also dwelled upon Him, the readers of Vedas and the Purans also became tired of their utterances, but had to abandon their search of finding Him (1) The gods, the demons and the evil spirits all say this that - "He is Not This, He is Not This." To some He appears to be the Subtlest of the subtle (Formless); whereas other say He is Biggest of the Big ones (creates the Universe from Himself, and gets it dissolved back within Himself). (2) It is the Lord, Who created the Earth, the sky and the under world; He is One in many. Only that person will escape from the effect of the Time (Death), who would seek refuge of the Lord God. (3) IX Rag Dev Gandhari, Patshaei Xth Recognize One Lord alone, none else. There is One Creator Lord, Who is All Powerful Creator, the Maker and Breaker. (Pause) What can one achieve, when he with utter devotion worships the stone gods? What have you achieved in worshipping stones with all your heart and devotion? You could not attain any enlightenment in this way! (1) O ignorant man, your burn incense, make offering of whole rice, which the stone cannot eat. O ignorant one, what spiritual powers could you find in the stone images, that they could bless you of anything? (2) If you could have a deeper thinking that if the stone were To have any life, then alone it could bless you. Except by surrendering oneself to the Lord of the Universe, there is No Salvation. (3) X Rag Dev Gandhari, Patshaei Xth Without meditating on God's Name, no one can be saved. The Lord created the Universe of fourteen regions, and exercises His Athority. Where will you manage to run to a place, to escape from His Authority? (1. Pause) You who indulge in your communal worship of your gods (Ram, Rahim) will not thus be saved. (1) The Vedas, Purans and Koran all call Him Infinite. Also Indras, Sesnagas, angelic beings and seers, who contemplated on Him for ages, could not find His limitations. (2) The Lord, Who is Formless and of no color; how could be called of Blue hued color (Shyam)? Your can attain to your salvation or redemption from the cycle of repeated births and deaths, if you could cling to His Lotus Feet.
  2. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh Please forgive daas as daas has forgotten where daas had gotten this article from. But, please enjoy it as it does provide insight into Ajaapa Jaap. WahegurujiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh AJAPA JAAP AJAPA JAAP (continuos repetition of Naam/ Waheguru) is the spiritual condition of a person when the Simran (repitition of Waheguru) goes on an auto pilot mode in your Surat (mind) and in your Hirdey (heart) as explained below. It means that Simran becomes a round the clock thing inside you, Simran doesn't stop at any moment, it carries on and such a condition comes with Gurkirpa (God/ the guru's blessing) and after a lot of Bhagti Kamai(meditation) or can also be attained with the Kirpa (blessings) of a Puran Braham Gyani(ascended master). The experiences of bliss follow a path such as this: 1. Jaap (repetition) with Tounge – Rasna – this happens in Dharam Khand 2. Jaap with the breathing – with Swaas – this happens in Gyan Khand and Saram Khand 3. Then Naam (waheguru) goes into your mind – Surat, in your thinking, then it becomes Simran from Jaap – this is a very good stage – this happens in Saram Khand and Karam Khand. 4. The next stage is when Simran goes into Hirdey – this one is even much higher stage when Naam goes into Hirdey – this is where it goes on an automatic mode, this is where the real bhagti(meditation) starts. 5. The next stage is when Simran travels to the Nabhi, when Nabhi Kamal(lotus)blossoms – Karam Khand 6. The next Stage is when Simran goes into Kundlini – Mooladhaar Chakkar and spine – Karam Khand 7. The next stage is when Simran travels through the spine to the brain, and back to Surat where it completes the cycle. This is what the real Mala (rosary) of Naam (meditation) is. When this happens then the Gyan Netter and Dasam Duaar (10th Gate) open s and you form a permanent connection with Akal Purakh (God), you start to receive divine knowledge – "Braham Gyan". This happens in Sach Khand. Enjoyment – Anand in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi is beyond description. That is why the enlightened souls go into v ery deep meditation some time for days together. You experience a lot of things during your Smadhi and Sun Smadhi, see a lot of things, meet a lot of Saints, Gurus, see Param Jyot, conversation with the Sants and Akal Purakh , it is beyond description wh at happens and through what you go when you go into deep meditation. This is the stage when all the doors – Bajjar Kapaat are opened and there is a continuous flow of Amrit, body is always full of Amrit. 8. The Simran in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi continues until NIRGUN AND SARGUN becomes one, at this point Simran goes into rom-rom – every bit of your body does Naam Simran, your Suksham Dehi becomes as pure as gold, your entire body is filled with Naam Amrit all the time. You become Braham Leen, and reach Atal Awastha. These stages are beyond description. Sat Chit Anand Ghar Hamare – Gurmukh Rom Rom Har Dhyae – Nirgun Sargun Nirankaar Sun Smadhi Aap, Apan Kia Nanka Apan Hi Fir Jaap and so on. One lives in Pu ran Parkash all the time and listens to Ilahi Kirtan(heavenly Kirtan/singing)– Anhad Naad Dhunis (heavenly music) all the time. It is just incredible experience. This is when one becomes Sat Ram Dass and is directed by the Almighty to serve humanity in h umbleness. And this is what we all wish to achieve being fortunate enough to move on the Bhagti Marg (spiritual path). If you do Jaap with Rasna your Rasna will become pavitter - pious, by doing jaap in along breathing - swass your swass will become pious - pavitter, by doing Simran in mind-Surat-Chit- mind will become pious - pavitter (pure), and that is what you need t o do to make your mind pious - pavitter, that is how you will have control on your mind - MAN JEETE JAG JEET (win teh mind and you win the world) - MAN TU JYOT SAROOP HAI and you will be able to rise above Panj Doots - KAAM, KRODH, LOBH, MOH, AHANKAAR AN D ALSO ASA, TRISHNA, MANSHA, NINDYA, CHUGLI, BAKHILI, RAJ, JOBAN, DHAN, MAAL, ROOP, RAS, GANDH, THESE THUGS – MENTAL SICKNESSES, and when Simran goes in to Hirdey - and Simran will go to Hirdey by itself with Gurkirpa (guru's blessings) only, and so in C hit, Hirdey will become pavitter - pious and a pious Hirdey will become Mahaparupkari and Dana Dina, NIRBHAO, NIRVAIR and so on, it will start to absorb all the vital qualities of Akal Purakh (god) and will become a Puran Sant Hirda, and will achieve JIV AN MUKTI. The true definition of a Saint is not by wearing a outwardly clothes – outside dress and outside rituals, it is the Hirda that becomes "Puran Sachyara" – completely truthful.

  6. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh davindervirk jio, according to Gurmat a Sikh must do they can to fight the five evils. Kaam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, and Ahankaar are demons within the body which use this vessel for their own pleasures. When one masturbates, or even has intercourse, basically indulging in worldly business, it is not them/their souls which feel the pleasure, the demons within the body are using us so they feel the pleasure themselves. How long does whatever activity we do last for? Whether it be masturbation to any other worldly affair? Everything is lost within the blink of an eye, and thus, to answer your question, masturbation is essentially wrong according to Gurmat principles as we ourselves gain nothing from it, but lose everything. The 5 demons are in control of the mind and body, but when we Jap Naam WE become the controllers. How would you feel if someone was controlling you? Not so happy, but we don't realize that there is evil within us controlling us as well. To fight it, Guru Sahib gave the whole world Gurbani and most importantly, NAAM! So Jap Naam as much as you can, and you yourself will come to realize what is good for you and what is harming you. Forgive daas for any wrongs committed. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh
  7. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh davindervirk, kaam in Gurbani means the wanting of something. Mostly, kaam is associated with sexual activities. For a married couple, it is okay to have intercourse as it is the natural way of life. However, one must not indulge in an excess of kaam-related activities as it ruins one's birthi of attaching oneself to the Pavitar Lotus Feet of Waheguru Ji. A married couple can choose what they wish; however, one who is not married must, at all costs, prevent the Kaam Demon from taking over in their mind and making them think/do things which they will regret. Dedicate each and every second to Naam Japna, Aat Pehar Simran, 24/7! jphu q eyko nwmw ] japahu th eaeko naamaa || Chant the Name of the One Lord. 8. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Bhai Bela Ji Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Bhai Bela Ji was a Gursikh during the times of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He came to Guru Ji and asked if he could stay at Anandpur Sahib. Guru Ji consented so long as Bhai Bela agreed to partake in Seva. He was asked what form of Seva he wished to partake in, such as, langar seva, recite Bani or join the Guru’s army and fight in the battlefield. Bhai Bela replied that he could not cook, read Gurbani or knew how to use shashtars. Thus Guru Ji assigned Bhai Bela Ji the duty of looking after the horses and their stables. At the same time Bhai Bela Ji would be taught Gurbani by Guru Ji. Guru Ji started by teaching Bhai Bela Ji one line of the JapJi Sahib per day. Bhai Bela Ji would spend his whole day, whilst fulfilling his daily chores, repeating that same line. The following morning he would recite it back to Guru Ji to make sure that he had memorised it correctly, and thus he could progress and go on to learn the next line. One day, Bhai Bela Ji came to Guru Ji ready for his next lesson. However Guru Ji was busy and was preparing to go out. Just as Guru Ji was about to leave, Bhai Bela Ji got in the way saying, “Guru Ji, I am ready for my next lesson. I want to learn the next line of JapJi Sahib.” Guru Gobind Singh Ji replied, “Bhai Bela, na vakhat veecharai naa veyla” meaning, “Bhai Bela, you are not considering the circumstances I am in; I am busy and must go out.” Yet Bhai Bela Ji was so innocent and obedient, that he understood Guru Ji’s comment to be the next line of the JapJi Sahib and spent his whole day practising the phrase. When the other Sevadaars heard Bhai Bela Ji, they started laughing and began mocking him. But Bhai Bela Ji ignored them and continued reciting the phrase, eager to learn it well so that he could please Guru Ji the next morning by reciting it correctly. The following morning when Bhai Bela Ji went to meet Guru Ji, the rest of the Sevadaars had gathered there as well. They wanted to see Guru Ji get angry with Bhai Bela Ji for incorrectly reciting the JapJi Sahib. However, when Bhai Bela Ji recited the line “Bhai Bela, na vakhat veecharai naa veyla,” Guru Ji instead got up and embraced Bhai Bela Ji. Guru Ji said, “this is what a true Sikh is. He does not allow his own intelligence to get in the way of his Guru’s words. He believes his Guru’s Bachan to be 100% true and does not consider his own intellect to be above that of his Guru’s.” Too often we judge ourselves to be cleverer and more knowledgeable than our Guru. Bhai Bela Ji sacrificed himself entirely to the Guru’s words. He was so innocent, subservient and obedient that he placed his faith entirely in the Guru’s Bachan, forsaking his own mind and intellect. May Guru Ji bless us with such pyaar, sharda and faith to forever live according to His Hukam, which is conveyed to us through His Shabad. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  10. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh INDIA BEFORE GURU NANAK After its climax, Buddhism started degenerating in India. Statues of Buddha and Budhisattvas became very common and were installed in their temples. Buddhist monks preached lesson of non-violence and non-resistance which made the people non-aggressive even in self defence. When Buddhism was driven out of India, the Hindu society set up their own gods and goddesses and began to worship their stone images. The Hindu priests who had been for centuries, the self-made custodians of religion and its teachings, had reduced the religion to a mockery performing rites and rituals and superstitious ceremonies devoid of any sense and meaning. "The Hindu leaders neglected to teach the spiritual realities to the people at large who were sunk in superstitions and materialism. Religion became confused with caste distinction and taboos about eating and drinking.....", writes Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a philosopher and former President of India. The Hindu society was over-ridden with caste system. The religion became the privilege only of the upper class called the Brahmans. The sacred religious books were neither accessible to the other classes nor could the people understand them because they were written mostly in Sanskrit, a language not spoken by the masses. Religious reading, writing and teaching was strictly the monopoly of the Brahmans. The lowest of the lowest class was called the Untouchables. A touch or even a shadow of these untouchables seemed to pollute the higher classes. Such was the condition of Hindu India when Muslim invaders from the west began pouring in large numbers one after the other. For the Muslim invaders, from Mahmood of Gazni in the eleventh century to the Moghuls in the sixteenth century (at the time of Guru Nanak), the Punjab was always the gateway of India. All these Muslim invaders massacred men, women and children without mercy, plundered their homes, desecrated and demolished their temples and robbed the wealth of these temples. The Hindus were converted to Islam at the point of the sword. Nobles, scholars, sufies, poets and philosophers who also came along with these invaders, settled in the various parts of India, and they laid the foundation of Indo-Muslim culture in the country. Many Muslim historians have given account of the happenings of that time. A few examples of the treatment of Hindus by the Mohammadan conquerors of India, are given below: Shahab-ul-Din, King of Gazni (1170-1206), put Prithwi Raj, King of Ajmer and Delhi, to death in cold blood. He massacred thousands of the inhabitants of Ajmer who opposed him , reserving the remainder for slavery (The Kamiu-t Tawarikh by Asir). In the Taj-ul-Ma'asir by Hassn Nizam-i-Naishapuri, it is stated that when Qutb-ul-Din Aibak (1194-1210) conquered Meerat, he demolished all the Hindu temples of the city and erected mosques on their sites. In the city of Aligarh, he converted Hindu inhabitants to Islam by the sword and beheaded all those who adhered to their own religion. Abdulla Wassaf writes in his Tazjiyat-ul-Amsar wa Tajriyat ul Asar that when Ala-ul-Din Khilji (1295-1316) captured the city of Kambayat at the head of the gulf of Cambay, he killed the adult male Hindu inhabitants for the glory of Islam, set flowing rivers of blood, sent the women of the country with all their gold, silver, and jewels, to his own home, and made about twenty thousand maidens his private slaves. Ala-ul-Din once asked his Qazi, what was the Mohammadan law prescribed for the Hindus. The Qazi replied, "Hindus are like the mud; if silver is demanded from them, they must with the greatest humility offer gold. If a Mohammadan desire to spit into a Hindu's mouth, the Hindu should open it wide for the purpose. God created the Hindus to be slaves of the Mohammadans. The Prophet hath ordained that, if the Hindus do not accept Islam, they should be imprisoned, tortured, finally put to death, and their property confiscated." Sayad Mohammad Latif writes in his history of the Punjab, "Great jealousy and hatred existed those days between the Hindus and Mohammadans and the whole non-Muslim population was subject to persecution by the Mohammadan rulers." Bhai Gurdas, a Sikh scholar, writes, "My Lord, it is strange that the people of Kalyug (dark age or the age of falsehood) have developed the attitude of a dog and they take pleasure in swallowing ill-gotten things. The rulers commit sins and those who are herdsmen, are killing the sheep themselves. The people being ignorant are not in a position to discriminate between truth and falsehood. Those who pose as benefactors are engaged in amassing wealth by fraudulent means. Love between man and woman is based on money, they meet at pleasure and depart at will. The Qazi who occupies the seat of justice, accepts bribes and then passes unjust orders." Guru Nanak describes the situation as: 'Kings are butchers Cruelty their knife, and Sense of duty and responsibility have taken wings and vanished.' (Slok Mohalla 1, p-145) It has always been believed that whenever the Righteousness vanishes from this world and the Falsehood takes its place, there has been a call from the Heaven to restore peace and justice on earth. Out of the dark clouds of falsehood, hypocrisy, injustice, cruelty and bigotry, there came a ray of sunshine from the Heaven as described by Bhai Gurdas, a Sikh apostle: "Heaven at last heard the prayers of the people, Guru Nanak was sent to the world. The disciples met and drank the nectar of his Lotus feet, And realized the Divine in this age of materialism. Guru Nanak re-established Dharma, All castes he merged into one caste of man. The rich and the poor he brought on one level, From this Founder of Humanity a new race of love goes forth; In humility they bow down to each other. The Master and the disciple became one, His song of Nam gives us a new life, He is the Saviour in this age of materialism. Nanak came, the world was lighted, The sun rose, the darkness disappeared. Wherever the Guru put his foot, It became the temple of worship. The far-famed seats of the Sidhas changed their names, The Yoga-houses became Guru-houses. Humanity resounded with his divine hymns; In every house of the disciple, the Lord was worshipped. The Guru went in all directions, Seeking his own all over the earth. A river of love and peace Flows in us singing his song." (Bhai Gurdas, // 1-pauri 23,27) Heaven at last heard the cries and prayers of the oppressed and there appeared the Savior of Humanity, Prophet of Peace, Fountain of Heavenly Love and Ocean of Virtue in the name of GURU NANAK, the founder of Sikh religion. 11. How to progress in Naam Japping naam lovingly and single mindedly is the most difficult devotion towards God. Just how education is easy at first and begins to become harder, Naam is the complete opposite, it is extremely difficult at first and gradually becomes easy. It is like licking a stone in the beginning but the bliss will soon come. Below are a few points that can help one progress in their spirituality. Forgive Daas if Daas has made any mistakes or if Daas has missed anything out. • Patience: To God, a life time is like a dream and a dream only lasts for a few minutes. Therefore, we should show much patience that it wouldn’t even matter if we don’t become liberated in this life or the next, or even if we may be the last to become liberated. God is attached to every human being, even the most sinful one. At the end of the day, everyone will become liberated. If God has patience, why shouldn’t we? • Accept God’s will: if we don’t accept God’s will then we are being selfish as we want it our way. We should be pleased with everything God has given us. God makes no mistake as God is perfect. Everything is done for the right reason. Also when we do something wrong, we always learn from it. We always learn to pick ourselves up when we fall, otherwise we’ll never move on. If we will be separated from God for a long time, that is still God’s wonderful gift. What ever God is pleased with, we should be pleased with too. • See pain as happiness: Within pain, becomes happiness. When we are given pain it is only because God loves us since when we are in pain we remember God. When we are in pain we become detached from this world. When we are in pain we erase sins. When we are in pain our ego decreases. Pain is a gift, it is a medicine. Also, don't put blame upon God, its only God existing within beings. So it’s only God experiencing pain. But God gets pleasure from everything. • See everything as a gift from God: Everything we have been given is a gift but the greatest gift among all gifts is Naam. So we should take advantage of this and do as much naam bhagti when we have time. However, with every single breath, with every morsel of food we should be japping naam. We should Jap Naam for any gift we have been given because we should appreciate it. If we have wealth, thank God for it by japping naam with immense love. If we have beauty, thank God for it by japping naam. Anything we have that we are proud, delighted of having, Jap naam for our gratitude. However, we should not feel happy when something good happens and disappointed when something bad happens. We should see everything good that occurs as God never makes no mistake. Everything that happens is for the right reason. God is the writer and God never makes any error in what God writes as God is perfect. • Become the slave of the slaves: We should treat everyone how we would treat God since God’s light abides in everyone, thus treat everyone with full respect. So, if we hurt an individual we are hurting God. Don’t think or treat badly of others. We treat others badly from ego, so our wealth of naam is lost through the demon of ego. We should become humble as the earth, which is the humblest of all. Become the dust of everyone’s feet including the most sinful one. Don’t distinguish others from caste, gender etc. Be pure externally and internally. If we are only pure externally and internally we are impure, we are only gambling our own life. • Give up all worldly attachments that take your mind away from God: If we don’t give up the things we are attached to, our mind will never settle and thus our mind will wonder in all directions. We have to conquer our mind. If we still stay in entangled in Maya such as watching TV, msn then we have not devoted ourselves enough to Guru Ji. Therefore, we are automatically turning our back towards Guru Ji as we are following our mind and not what Guru Ji wants us to do. If its education that takes our mind away and we know as humans it’s a necessity, then do not go too obsessive over it and remain dead to it. Overall, do not cling too much over one thing. Jap naam whenever the time is available. When we devote ourselves we give up the things we are attached to in this world. Television, video games, msn etc all corrupt us. When we do things as that, we forget God. Through forgetting God we are polluted with diseases of the mind. Anything that Guru Ji would do, we should do. Anything that Guru Ji wouldn’t do, we shouldn’t do. Follow the Guru’s teachings. It’s all about becoming a slave of the saints. When we do what our mind desires, it’s only through ego and ego only destroys us in the end. If we have ego and even if we commit good deeds through ego, we go straight to hell. Even if we are a Sikh, if we haven’t devoted ourselves enough, we go to hell. We may be saved but we still have to get punished. Also, by forgetting God and doing the things our mind desires, how will be remember God at the time of our death. When we waste our life in vain, what excuse shall we give to Dharam Rai then? •Sleep less, eat less and talk less: Our nights are wasted sleeping and our days are wasted talking and eating. These only weaken our Naam and when it comes for our bhagti we are all drained out. Our lives passes uselessly, through these we forget God. How vile are we when we forget God. The mind shall never be appeased through these, they only corrupt the mind. It’s easy to talk, it’s easy to eat and it’s easy to sleep but how rare it is to single-mindedly dwell upon God in meditation. We instead become hesitant to chant God’s true name. None of those useless things are pleasing to God. God only gives his gifts to those with whom he is pleased with. Sleeping, eating and talking are all entanglements which leads one to suffer in the end. • Have faith: Faith is an important thing in our life. Anything is possible if we have faith. Even a spark of faith means something at the end. We shouldn’t have doubts because we know that God takes care of everything in the end. God is the creator, so why wouldn’t God take care of his creation. Don’t worry about anything; let God do all the worrying. God takes care of his creation. • Avoid the company of the manmukh: Bad Company ruins our life. What ever they think even though it is not thought in the beginning, we gradually begin to think the same. Avoid their company and do not dine with the faithless. Stay away from them. Try and join the Sadh Sangat as we possibly can. Through the company of the holy we are saved. • Do not stay emotionally attachment to family, friends, spouse etc: the only one we should stay attached to should be God as God is the only one that shall depart with us in the end. Within all beings is God, so we should lovingly attach ourselves to God. God is the kindest being of all; God has given and is giving so much to us every second and loves us all the time. No being can give us happiness in this world as we are all the same; we all have the 5 evils inside of us. It is better being alone if we do not have the Sadh Sangat with us. But we are never alone, God is eternally near us. God shall never come and shall never go. God only reveals himself to us when he is pleased with us. • See God everywhere: God is pervading exterior and interior, so when we do our naam bhagti, search deep within because that is where God will be found. Also, God is the only one existing; we don’t exist at all, so God is really alone. We have no power, only God does. God makes us do what he is pleased with us to do. And what ever God is pleased with, we should be pleased with. This is all just God’s play and we shall all merge with God once again. • Do Naam Bhagti with love and fear: Through fear, we become fear of forgetting God and always keep our consciousness upon God. Through love we Jap Naam for nothing else except to have his blessed indescribable beautiful Darshan. Fearing God lowers our ego as we would have fear from committing any wrong deed. If we believe death will come to us the moment we forget God, then we will always focus lovingly upon God and never waste time. • Sing the kirtan of God’s praises: This is the light in Kalyug and should be done day and night. This also increases the love for God. God showers his blessing upon those who sing lovingly of his praises. Our mind becomes satisfied when we sing his praises and we realize the love and happiness through God. Singing God’s praises are pleasing and dear to God, so we should do what ever God is pleased with us doing. We become imbued in his love when we sing his glorious praises. We live in our true home in harmony. • Do not waste time: If we have time we should do Naam bhagti. This life will pass by as a dream and will regret the time wasted once our life ends. We may believe that Naam Bhagti should be done only in the evening to make up for all the Maya we engaged into during the day or to balance our life but what kind of devotion is that. During the day we were dead since we forgot God and only during the evening we were alive. That is our life; we laugh in delight during that day and Jap naam miserably in the evening and by then we have become all dry. That’s how much we were alive during our life. If we actually make a diary of when we forgot God and when we remembered God, we’ll see how much of our life went to waste and see how much we were alive. The amount of Naam we japped during the day, Naam stays in our mind during our sleep. During our slumber is the time when we easily forget God and where our naam can be easily stolen. • Simran with every breath: When we forget God, we haven’t devoted ourselves enough to God. Also when we do Naam Bhagti, listen to it. Only by hearing it single-mindedly we move on through our journey towards God. When we forget God, we are turning our back against Guru Ji because at this moment we are following our mind. We gave a mind and body to Guru Ji when we took amrit, so what Guru Ji linked us to, that we are linked. A minute is too long to forget God; we should remember God every second, within every breath. God has done so much for us and we forget the creator. God remembers everyone, God loves everyone but have we shown enough love in return. We should do Simran with every breath in remembrance. When we forget God, we should feel ashamed and should repent. • Seva: Do as much seva as we can. Through Seva we become humble. • We should respect our parents: When we hurt them or disobey them we commit a sin and that leads us no where. Also, without them we will be nowhere. They molded us into the person we stand today. Most of our wealth of Naam goes to our mother, so our Mother deserves respect. • Give up all desires and replace them with the love for God: That is probably the hardest one since as humans our mind doesn’t stop craving and wants more each time. The mind is never satisfied. If you still have an inner desire, then Jap naam for it because the love for God will soon come. There is no enjoyment or satisfaction from worldly desires. As a result, Give up all your desires and exchange them for the union of God. Once we do this, we begin to feel the pain of separation and feel a hunger for Naam overwhelming. We have been separated from God for such along time, why would we want to waste this life again. • Ardaas: When we do ardaas, don’t use God as a toy. Don’t ask for things for our own needs, we only suffer for it in the end. Only our Naam gets used up for our wishes as well. Only ask and hope for God. Never ask to be at the same level as God, otherwise we’ll never unite with God. • Do not waste your evening: Many of us may take part in our worldly pleasures or commitments during this time but this time is most needed for our religious occupations since this will help our amritvela for better concentration. Also, this is the time where we achieve flowers. • Spiritual experiences: Do not tell others of our experiences. The fruits of Naam should not be told, it only leads to corruption of egotism and Naam is stolen. Even if we don’t have any, do not Jap Naam for them. Do not give up just because we never got any. Have faith and patience. • Live honestly: Live true to our soul by fulfilling our hearts desires. • Follow the rehit as much as we can: Don’t forget that Guru doesn’t love the Sikh but loves the rehit. Thus, the Guru loves the discipline of that Sikh. Wouldn’t we want our true mother; Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and our true father; Guru Gobind Singh Ji to be proud of us? The Discipline of a Sikh is when we never follow our mind and live as a slave of the saints. Thus, remembering god 24/7. There is a whole world within us so before we begin conquering the world surrounding us, first conquer the world within. There are battles that need to be fought with the 5 warriors. Only then when we do that, we are pure externally and internally. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh this article was taken from www.naam-jor.blogspot.com WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh

  20. Ek Onkar Sat Gurprasad The Primal Spirit Is Realized Through The True Guru's Grace In the Indian subcontinent, mystics and sages have regularly used malas or rosaries as a meditative tool. When the rosary revolves around the index finger, one eventually comes to realize that the entire creation revolves around and evolves from Ek Onkar. It is for this reason the Bhawan Akhri begins with Ek Onkar. Ek means One; On is the audible sound used to represent the Cosmic Responance; and Kar means manifestation. The entire Bhawan Akhri is a poetic expression of how all existence is a manifestation of Ek Onkar; how Divine Love is attained when one identifies with Ek Onkar as one's True Self; and how sorrows arise when one misidentifies with the ego as one's True Self. The Origins of Ek Onkar The mantra Onkar existed 3000 years before the advent of Guru Nanak. Onkar is found in both Hindu Vedas and Buddhist Dhammapada, and is the sacred mantra of the Jain Faith. Onkar is the more precious sound current in the Vedas. Its vibration enables one to experience Sat Chit Ananda or Pure Bliss Consciousness. The Mandukopanishad describes Onkar as: That which was, is, and will be, is all Onkar The three aspects of existence are a manifestation of Onkar. They are akar, creative; okar, sustaining; and mokar, dissolving. The three aspects of existence are not seperate, but are One Conscious Spirit. Due to the ineffable nature of Onkar, those with concrete modes of understanding created by gods to symbolize the three aspects of existence. Brahma was the creator, Vishnu was the sustainer, and Shiva was the destroyer. People would concrete modes of understanding began worshipping the deity gods through prayer and rituals. Since concrete knowledge is construed from sensory perception, such worship was not sufficient from a transcendental experience of the ineffable nature of Onkar. To enlighten humanity with the transcendental experience of Onkar, Guru Nanak placed the numeral Ek in front of Onkar to denote the three aspects of existence are One nd inseparable. Ek Onkar is Pura or Absolute, whereas a god is adhura or limited to only one aspect of existence. Ek Onkar is Satnaam, Karta Purakh, Nirbhou, Nirvair, Akaal Murat, Ajuni Sabhang, and is realized through Gurprasad. Guru Nanak uttered these attributes after he reappeared in the river Bein where he was believed to have disappeared. Ek Onkar is Satnaam. Satnaam is comprised of two words, Sat and Naam. Naam literally means name. In the East, names are not merely labels to identify one person from the other, but rather describes the essence of one's life's purpose. Therefore, Naam means essence, and the essence of Ek Onkar is Sat. Sat has a double meaning, but both meanings contain the same original root. In Sanskrit, Sat means Being and existence, and Satya means Truth and validity. Sat is an eternal state of Being, that which is constant and is not subject to change. Satya is a philosophical quest, whereby Truth is defined, sought, and the rules to discover Truth are formulated. Ek Onkar is both Sat and Satya, whereby Hukkam or Cosmic Law, is an eternal state of Being. Ek Onkar is Karta Purakh. Karta means creative cause. If Ek Onkar was solely Creator, then the cause would control the Creator. Therefore, Ek Onkar is both the Creator and the cause behind the creation. The word Purakh has a double meaning. Purakh literally means person. Ek Onkar is not a person, but rather the Cosmic Consciousness of Being observing the creation. The Literal interpretation of Purakh may lead one to believe Ek Onkar is separate from the creation, however, the second meaning of Purakh solves this dilemma. Purakh also mean Puri or pervasive, therefore the entire creation is Ek Onkar. Unlike the sculptor, who is separate from his creation, Ek Onkar is both the Creator and the creation. By discarding all ideas of Ek Onkar being separate from the creation, there is no need to renounce or run away from the world. The world is the home of the True One, in which The True One resides. - Guru Nanak One's perception of the creation is only True if the individual consciousness is aware of the unifying force binding the creation together. But if one's consciousness is unaware of the unifying force, and identifies with the concrete mind's perception of the phenomenal world, then one's perceptions are like chains imprisoning the Soul within the body. Ek Onkar is Nirbhou and Nirvair. Nirbhou means fearless and Nirvair means without enmity. Fear only exists when something threatens one's physical or psychological well being. That which is perceived as threatening becomes the enemy. Since Ek Onkar is both the Creator and the creation, everything is a manifestation of itself. Just as one welcomes their own mirror image with love, the entire creation is a loving reflection of Ek Onkar. Love is the essential nature of Ek Onkar. Divine Love is not like the love we experience in our interpersonal relationships. In this world, there is only mutual love. Each person loves another to be loved. - Guru Ram Das Love is experienced between two lovers, between parent and child, between brothers and sisters, and with relatives and friends. In these relationships, one often loves another to satisfy one's own desire to be loved. Divine Love flows through a natural process. - Guru Amar Das Divine Love flows through a natural process because it is unconditional. Ek Onkar expresses Divine Love without the desire to be loved. Divine Love flows in all directions freely and does not restrict its love to anyone. Just as a stream flows from the snow covered mountains freely, Divine Love flows from Ek Onkar unconditionally. All we have to do is open our hearts and experience its cool refreshing nature. Once Divine Love is experienced, the desire to be loved vanishes because one realizes one's True Essential Nature is Love. Ek Onkar is Akaal Murat, the timeless image. To understand the timeless image of Ek Onkar, it is essential to first understand the concept of time. Time is the distance between two changes. If nothing changed, there would be no awareness of time. For example, a clock measures the distance between two changes. But when a clock stops ticking while one is asleep, one awakens with no sense of time. Essentially, one feels as if time was temporarily still. In the creation, everything is constantly changing. In the morning the sun rises and in the evening it sets. The human mind constantly changes thoughts within a blink of an eye, and the human personality changes value and belief systems throughout the life span. Everything is in a constant state of change and is therefore subject to time and age. In contrast, Ek Onkar is timeless because it is Sat, an eternal state of Being. The Absolute Being is unchanging, stable, and constant. Ek Onkar is Ajuni Sabhang. Ajuni means unborn and Sabhang means self-creating. Ek Onkar was not born of someone and has no mother or father. The body is born by the union of male and female. That which is born is subject to change, time, and death. However, within the body is the eternal state of Being, which remains constant and never changes. If you close your eyes, you will discover that nothing changes inside. The very life flowing from the eternal state of Being is constant. Life is eternal energy. The eternal state of Being is Sabhang or self-creating. Ek Onkar exists on its own and has no support except its own. Ek Onkar is realized through Gurprasad. Gurprasad is the Guru's grace. The Guru is Naad Shabad, which is the sound current resonating within the Guru's hymns. By consciously internalizing the Naad Shabad, one's consciousness travles within the heart to connect with Anahata Naad or the Cosmic resonance of Ek Onkar. The Guru's grace is the power of Naad Shabad to calm the constant flow of thoughts and to reach the realm of Anahata Naad. It is for this reason the mantra Ek Onkar is followed by Sat Gurprasad in the Bhawan Akhri. The True Guru's Grace enables humanity to realize that its True Self is Ek Onkar. 23. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh Sangat jio, daas was in a conversation with daas' chacha ji. Chacha ji was listening to Bhai Amolak Singh da Shabad from Los Angeles 2006. In it, Bhai Sahib says "Dhan Guru Dhan Guru Pyare." daas' chacha ji said that that was kachi bani and that it shouldn't be read. Is it okay to read Panktees from Rehitnama's or anywhere else in Kirtan? If so, could you please provide evidence to this claim. Thank you. - daas WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh
  24. WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh daas has just recently received a new Motorola v361 and uploaded some kirtan tracks. daas was wondering if anyone knows how to turn them into ringtones. daas doesn't know how to. There is no option of making them ringtones as what daas can see. If anyone else knows how to, please tell:) - daas WaheguruJiKaKhalsaWaheguruJiKiFateh ps: sorry for not putting this in the techie support group. If anyone knows how to move this topic into that group, please let daas know. Thanks:)
  25. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Reading these inspirational stories has made daas want to share his as well. Though it is not important, but here daas goes. As a child growing up in Surrey, BC daas didnt have any Sikhi knowledge (or sikhi in general) what-so-ever. Growing up, daas was always angry, to much kaam and krodh. Childhood was bad for daas, and his parents as daas was a very big and annoying brat. Nothing would change me, daas was too stubborn.... until Guru ji put daas onto the Sikhi path. It was just overnight or anything, it takes time to come into Sikhi, Guru ji makes us all take many tests to see where we are at and what we need to improve on. In actuality, daas was a Sikh by name, not by religion though daas knew some little itty-bitty stuff about Sikhi due to grandparents, parents and chacha-thai's. The real change happened in elementary school. For some odd reason, Guru ji wanted daas never to be part of the "cool" people. Even if given the chance to, daas would stay with the "cool" people but didn't like their sangat, as the "cool" people would always be mean and mock other people which hurt daas a lot. Then, sometimes people would always ask daas, "why do you keep your hair, why don't you cut it?" and "oh, that other boy cut his turban, why don't you?" daas would answer saying that its part of his religion to never cut one's hair and those who do are bad and sinners. These events occurred around grade 5-7. Daas' Sikhi was growing slowly and steadily. Daas remembers lecturing his teachers on Sikhi and how great it was. Daas remembers his teacher saying "Wow, what a great religion!" As daas got into High School, again daas didn't really like the cool people, but because daas wasn't really into Sikhi then, daas wished to be with them. Also, daas thinks this effects everyone at some point in their life, is the fact that in High School the people you see have all changed. The girls aren't "innocent" anymore but they change and wear provocative clothing or clothing which our Kaam finds very 'good.' For daas, kaam had always been a problem. Daas hated it, but didn't know how to fight it. daas was never inspired to motivated to read bani or jap Waheguru. Thus, eventually daas would always "let go" of any resistance to kaam and not fight back and accept it. Daas would always think to himself, "why aren't I cool?" "why don't girls like me?" and the like; this was all due to kaam. But, as Guru ji willed, daas would never be a part of the "Cool" people and stay with his other, elementary or "low class" friends daas made (please note daas doesnt consider these "low class" friends as low class but just saying as daas knows the "cool" poeple thought them wierd and unfit for them to be around.) After awhile, since daas' sister and himself were in High School, daas' parents decided to buy a computer as some homework assignments and projects needed to be completed with a computer. Now thanks to the internet, daas was connected to the world, especially getting connected to Sikhi and Gursikhs. Daas found many websites on Sikhi, each more inspiring then the last. All taught about what Sikhi is, what the 5 kakkars are, their significance and so much more! But then at the same time, other worse things would happen to daas while on the internet. It was an on-going battle of the mind. At school, daas would always start religious conversations with followers of different faiths or athiest's. It was really futile talking with them, but daas got a reputation for being "Religious" and people would say "oh, don't mess this 'giani'" etc etc. Grade 8 went by and then grade 9 and so forth. Each year daas would have gains in Sikhi, yet there would be losses as well (Daas thinks this happens to everyone at some point in School or just in life in general.) One of those losses was when in grade 10, daas forgot about Sikhi and did a really stupid thing. Daas sent a "love" letter to a goree girl whom daas liked. It was the stupidiest thing daas could do, but daas did it. Why? Because daas was in bad sangat and the sangat told me to do it. So daas told one of his friends to give it to her. The girl received it and she was shocked that she got the letter. She was even more shocked at how "cheesy" the letter was. The friend who daas gave the letter to told some people and in the end the girl found out. After that day, we both have never been the same. We always look away from eachother, never make eye contact, etc (now, in grade 12 it's changed.) That was the stupidiest thing daas did in grade 10. Then, with Guru Ji's kirpa, after that day daas just let go of these stupid things and just concentrated on Sikhi and studies. As the school year ended and summer came, daas spent his time on the computer looking up on Sikhism. Daas would spend hours and hours and hours on the internet just to make a connection with Sikhi and Guru Sahib ji. Daas would read inspirational stories on Gursikhs and be amazed at how they lived their lives accoriding to Rehit and just how much INTENSE love they had for Waheguru Ji and Guru Sahib. Daas always wished he could be at that avastha too. Then one day, daas met someone (daas would like to keep their identity gupt, please forgive me.) But this individual changed daas' life. In grade 11, while on in the internet, daas went to a forum site and there was someone who just stuck out at daas. Daas, amazingly got hold of their email and added them to his msn. Now, for personal and private reasons, and because this individual wished so, daas wishes to keep what we talked about private, but this person was so in love with Waheguru ji that daas could not believe it. Their avastha was soo high, yet they were young at age. Not even amritdhari, yet did amritvela, kept sarbloh bibek and so much more. It was amazing! Honestly, what daas is saying is nothing compared to how daas FEELS when talking about this individual. Then, after awhile it so happened that daas and this individual would not talk, due to certain issues (there was no kaam involved, just other reasons that are best kept gupt.) Later on, on the same forum site, another Gursikh stuck out to daas and daas sent them an email. The most amazing part was, when they asked me where daas got their email from, daas said that if you clicked their name their email would show because they typed it in the box where it says they want their email to be displayed (Tapoban Forums.) They sent daas an email back saying that was strange as they NEVER put their email up on those forums (it was as if Guru ji wanted us to know eachother, it's a feeling hard to describe.) The Gursikh and daas started talking, again please forgive me but what we two talked about is something which should be gupt and it was only told to daas. This Gursikh's avastha is very high and he told daas some very amazing things which daas is not allowed to disclose. Eventually, daas and this Gursikh were not meant to talk due to the Gursikh saying that they would like to decrease their time on the computer and focus more on Simran and Bani (Sikhi.) But, those conversations we had changed daas and left daas wanting more. Due to this Gursikh and the previous Gursikh daas met, daas was changed forever. Daas started to also, at this time, come to know of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Bhai Randhir Singh. Daas loved the Akhand Kirtani Jatha and was amazed and breath-taken at the amazing Gursikhi and Prem for Waheguru filled life of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji. Daas got more and more influenced by the Jatha. The day daas took amrit, daas didn't even know it was going to happen, yet daas did. Something strange happened to daas, daas does not know whether to talk about it or not, but for now daas will keep it gupt. All daas can say is that Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh is a part of it. On April 23/2006 daas was iniated into the Khalsa Panth. But before taking amrit, daas was nervous and scared and didn't know whether to take amrit or not. So daas took a Hukamnama which was taken from www.SikhiToTheMax.com. The hukamnama was by Bhai Gurdas Ji and it said: namasakaar guradhaev ko sathanaam jis ma(n)thr sunaayaa|| bhavajal vchio(n) kaadtakae mukath padhaarathh maa(n)hi samaayaa|| janam maran bho kaattiaa sa(n)saa rog vijog mittaayaa|| sa(n)saa eih sa(n)saar hai janam maran vich dhukh sabaayaa|| jamadha(n)dd siro(n) n outharai saakath dhurajan janam gavaayaa|| charan gehae guradhaev kae sath sabadh dhae mukath karaayaa|| bhaae bhagath gurapurab kar naam dhaan eishanaan dhrirraayaa|| jaehaa beeo thaehaa fal paayaa ||a|| I bow before the Guru (Guru Nanak Dev) who recited the satinam mantra(for the world). Getting (the creatures) across the world ocean He raptly merged them in liberation. He destroyed the fear of transmigration and decimated the malady of doubt and separation. The world is only illusion which carried with it much of birth, death and sufferings. The fear of the rod of Yama is not dispelled and the sakts, the followers of the goddess, have lost their lives in vain. Those who have caught hold of the feet of the Guru have been liberated through the true Word. Now being full of loving devotion they celebrate the gurprubs (anniversaries of the Gurus) and their acts of rememberance of God, charity and holy ablutions, inspire others also. As someone sows, so he reaps. http://www.sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp?Sour...41&Format=2 After reading this, daas knew there was no other option but to take amrit. The Sanchaar was held by the Akhand Kirtani Jatha at Khalsa Primary School just across Khalsa School in Surrey, BC. At 1:00am in the morning, daas was a new born child rescued by Guru Gobind Singh ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. Now, daas tries his best to follow Sikhi and thanks to Guru ji, daas has found the True Sangat and now is free from everything. Dhan Guru, Dhan Guru Pyare. What more can daas say. Everything happens as Guru ji wants it to happen. (please note there have been some things which have not been mentioned, they are not bad but daas wishes they remain gupt. Maaf kardo) Now all daas has to say is that we should all, as a Panth Jap as Much NAAM as we can and save ourselves from this TERRIBLE World Ocean which is drowning us. *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* *Wahe Gurooooo* Bhul Chuk Maaf karna sangat jio. - daas Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
