  1. cisco singh. i do not have an agenda. i have personal experience and knowledge of this gurdwara hence why i am qualified to make such statements so please do not make sweeping statements against me.

very simply the people wanting to reverse this decision are paid up congress party members and indian workers union members. if you want evidence of this, i am more than happy to give you names and addresses and details. i have no issue with naming and shaming people who have openly been drunk in this gurdwara and then been elected president.

there is no agenda to this. the very few gursikhs (and their families) who have been asking for this change for years are anti congress but not strictly pro akali or pro khalistan either. half of them are related to me.

there is no caste politics here either as uklondon singh has very rightly pointed out

as i said above this is a good thing but the problem with this gurdwara is that once committees change peoples views do too because everyone is scared of upsetting their relatives who may hold opposite views etc

    thanks

  2. WOW AMRIK SINGH AJNALA MUST BE A PROPHET. THE BELOW IS EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID WOULD HAPPEN IN A YOUTUBE CLIP.

Waraich gurdwara land was swapped with dera: Report

    Perneet Singh/TNS

    Amritsar, July 20

The SGPC sub-committee constituted to probe the alleged demolition of a gurdwara at Waraich village by the followers of a dera has stated in its report that the panchayat’s move to “shift” the gurdwara was justified and no sacrilege was perpetrated during the process. In its report, a copy of which is with The Tribune, the sub-committee said after the Army acquired land at Waraich village for its ammunition depot, only 200 families were left there while other people were rehabilitated. But, these 200 families too sold off their property later and migrated to other places.

“Only the house of Balwinder Singh Comrade was left in the village and he was the one who was taking care of the gurdwara as per Sikh ‘maryada’. But as he too had sold off his house, the panchayat was compelled to take a decision on the shrine,” the report said. Later, the panchayat and a few villagers “swapped” one-and-a-half kanal of the gurdwara land with the dera for a same-size plot adjoining the village’s other gurdwara. Besides, the dera management also gave a cheque of Rs 10 lakh as compensation for the gurdwara building. The amount was to be utilised to raise a "bunga" in the name of Mata Ganga Jee at Anandpur Sahib, the report states.

The panel stated that there were two ‘birs’ of Guru Granth Sahib at Waraich gurdwara and both of them were moved to Gurdwara Ramsar at Chhamb village as per the ‘maryada’. The report said no sacrilege was committed during the process.

Prominent residents of the village also told the panel that there was no forcible shifting of Guru Granth Sahib or demolition of the gurdwara building. They said everything happened with consensus.

Concluding its report, the panel said, “As all the residents of Waraich village have sold off their property and shifted to other places, it was not possible to manage the gurdwara affairs as per the ‘maryada’. In this situation, shifting the gurdwara was the right move and, hence, the decision to swap the gurdwara land and receive compensation for its building is also correct.”

  3. by implication therefore the meat and sharaab party will take place before the meeting

doesnt surprise me given that former presidents of this gurdwara have been convicted of drink driving and have also been found guilty of mis-using european funds.

the list is endless yet the sangat seems to forget this and it is more like a social club than a place of worship

  4. i am in the legal profession and have dealt with mr bal and his law firm. i can safely say he is not making a penny from sikh channel and is in fact putting in alot of his own money.

    stop spreading false rumours.

i am not his friend or supporter but have any of you had the balls to start a sikh tv channel ? have any of the countless rich sikhs and gurdwara across the uk had the balls to do this ? the answer is no.

if you dont like it, go watch glory tv on 832.

  5. guptveer and jonny

there was speech at the latest gurdaspur protest shown on sikh channel. the taksali singh who looks after bhai ranjit singh openly said at this protest where shaheed jaspal singh's grandfather and father where standing right next to him that when the discussions were ongoing with Jathedar Akal Takht and Sant Samaj and Dhadrianwale at the familys house on the day he was shot (everyone has seen the youtube footage of the thousands of singhs attending), the family said that they wanted the Policemen punished otherwise they would not cremate their son. Dhadrianwale and Dhumma got a letter in an envelope from the DC and the Police saying that all the demands of the family had been or would be met and so that they should cremate their son so as to avoid anymore tension. the family agreed. they then opened the letter which was blank.

i do not know if this is true but i would rather believe shaheed family then a so called sant who has been seen on youtube taking money from people and letting them touch his feet on his birthday

appreciate i may have caused offence

  6. I thought all the speeches were poor. really poor. the lawyer woman whose brother in law was killes in delhi riots was ok. other than that they were poor. really sorry to say this.

    last year was much better.

what saddened me was that the videos on the large screen were also crap. we needed better english ones and much louder. before the rally hit trafalgar square goreh and kaleh and japanese asked me what was going on - they couldnt understand through the video.

the whole point is not to preach to the converted.

pointless exercise now. we needed much more leaflets and better quality speakers and videos in english

  7. very interesting debate.

if the central government controls all budgets and allocates money to the different states based on population rather than actual tax contributions/gdp of those different states to the central budget then even if the people of a particular state wanted to diversify they couldnt if the central gov didnt want them to

in punjabs case it is simple. why would a central gov want the farmers of that state to diversify away from food products that feed the entire nation at a below market price to flowers so they can export etc

when the market(s) (demand) for food products is/are controlled by the government and you cant export your surplus you are in trouble

this is not something which is restricted to india by the way. quite a common problem around the world.

  8. Gurdaspur firing: Protesters demand arrest of culprits

    Monday, May 28, 2012 - 18:00

    By Sukhwinder Malhi

GURDASPUR: Gurdaspur remained peaceful but tense following the district adminstration and police clamped ban orders on assembly of more than five persons under section 144 and protesters seeking probe into the police firing in which Jaspal Singh , student of Beant Engineering College was killed .

Jaspal singh was killed in police firing during protest march in the city seeking clemency of death sentence for Balwant Singh Rajoana, one of the accused for former CM Beant Sinngh's killer .The protesters led by Jaspal's singh 's father Gurcharanjit singh and Damdami Taksal cheif Jathedar Lakhwinder Singh wanted to march to Kahnuwan Chowk from Sidhwan Chor village but were stopped by the police mid way and they were forced to stage dharna at Harochhani Road.gurdas.JPG

The protesters were also demanding arrest of more than half a dozen Shiv Sena activits who were named in FIR causing violence during protest for clemency of death sentence for Rajoana decrying police inaction.

While the city fostered look of a police fortress and no vehicle or bus passing through the city was allowed to go unchecked after the Gurdaspur adminstration clammed ban orders on assembly of five or more persons , as soon as the police came to know that protesters had left Sidhwan Chour village for Kahnuwan Chowk for staging their dharna , the alert police stopped them midway and they were forced to pitch their tents at Hardochhani Road where members of the various radical outfits addressed the gathering .

gurdaspur_0.JPG The protesters said even though the government had launched two probe panels ----one led by Jalandhar Division Commissioner and other by DIG border Range , the police seemed to be shielding the police officers involved in firing which led to killing of Jaspal Singh and demanded that CBI should be asked to probe the case. Acrimony raised its ugly head when the radical group members did not allow Hardeep Singh to speak and asked him to come down from the stage when he lauded the efforts being made by Gurdaspur MLA and CPS Gurbachan Singh made by him to promote peace and harmony in the city .

While Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Sr Abhinav Trikha and SSPO Ravcharan Singh reached the spot and were seen holding dialogue with the protesters that following ban orders , the protest march could not be allowed to proceed to the city , they were asked to give their memorandum to them at the spot but the protesters refused their offer to stay put at the dharna site .

firing.JPGGurdaspur DC Dr Abhinav Trkha and SSP Ravcharan Singh in their respective statements said the ban orders were clamed in the city to maintain law and order situation in the city even as most of the protesters had left venue towards the evening , only a hand full of the them were staging dharna .SSP Brar said no untoward incident had taken place during the protest and law and order situation in the city was normal .

Exhorting the residents to maintain peace DC Trikha said , the ban order had been clamped by administration so that law and order was maintained to that otherwise peaceful atmosphere was not vitiated in the city .
