  1. Well actually SGPC has banned Charitropakhyan/Tria Chariter...

"The S.G.P.C. has called it a Puranic myth and not work of the Tenth Guru.."

"The SGPC, vide its letter no. 36672 dated 3. 8. 1972, has declared to be a composition from Hindu mythology and not by the Tenth Master, could have been combined with sacred gurbani by any Sikh"

  2. These works are attributed to Dasam Patshah:

    1. Dasam Granth

    2. Sarbloh Granth

    3. Puranmasi Katha

    4. Mukt Marg Granth

    5. Prem Sumarag Granth

    6. Vidya Sagar Granth (never found after it was drown in river Sirsa)

Now these works are attributed to guru Ji.

The first 2 are quite known... But the other 3? What are the sangats view about this? And also Kam1825, you once said in a topic you would scan and post Puranmasi Katha... Please do it. It would be amazing seva and i would be thankfull to you.

Wasnt Prem Sumarag Granth written somewhere near the 1800s? Is there any Brahmgyani Ji that said that Prem Sumarag was written by Guru ji?

And what is Mukt Marag Granth all about?

Sorry if i offended anyone, but this just seems TOO interesting.

  3. Shastr,

I had asked the same question as u some time ago.

    http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=37811&hl=

So, from collecting info from various sources is that...

The standard version of 1428 pages, doesnt include Charitropakhyan (793 pages), and some others like Sahansharnama and Malkus ki vaar.

Inder Singh wrote this on that thread about the ?Bani? of Malkus Ki Vaar: I have a copy of this document with me.There are seven pages. It mentions Har ju hartmandir avange and also name nanak is there in concluding line.

So could you please tell a bit more about Malkus Ki Vaar, and if possible also of Sahansharnama...

  4. I've seen many Goreh wearing Karas... That too is sinister, isnt it? Many of them visited Darbar Sahib and bhought kara (kareh) there and wear them as a souvenire.. Is it wrong?

I know many Hindus, Muslims, Christians in Punjab wear Karas... Thats normal.. Thats Sikh influence in the other religions of Punjab. In Indian Punjab you will easily spot a muslim saying Sat Sri Akal instead of their traditional Salam-o-Alaikum etc

And in Pakistan, you will find that many Sikhs (and Hindus) use Salam-o-Alaikum instead of Sat Sri Akal. And also many Hindus in Pakistan eat beef, but don't eat pork.

But the Muslims wearing Kareh to convert Sikhnis (not Singhnis, because a Singhni won't convert... She will die, but not convert to another religion) are bad... From what I heard many Pakistani Muslims wear Karas... But since there are some 40,000 Pakistani Sikhs in UK, it could be that a Pakistani is wearing Kara, and he is Sikh.. Then he has the right to. But the Muslim Pakistanis/Punjabi Hindus wearing Karas is bad.

  5. All that i know is that Lakhi Jungle is a jungle with one LAKH (100,000) trees, hence LAKHi Jungle. During the times of the Mughals, when Sikhs were persecuted, massacred and what not, many/most Sikhs hid in the Lakhi Jungle.

Another Sakhi I heard about is that Guru Nanak Dev ji recited one lakh paths of Japji Sahib in the Jungle, and therefore it became to be known as Lakhi Jungle.

But as i aint some Gyani, I can't tell you the meaning of Lakhi Jungle in that tukk or explain that tukk.

  7. Well 1st question is not mine.. But a friend once asked me.. And i just couldnt answer him..

So criminals, rapists, etc can still go in the holy city of Amritsar?

If i am not mistaken Bhai Rama SIngh ji has stated something like bad persons wont be allowed in Amritsar or something... Itz long time ago i read it... But i know.. This mentality exists where some/many Sikhs want to make Amritsar the second Mecca (but for Sikhs)...

    But 2nd question is mine..

  8. Above argument by user:masra di dahl doesnt make sense.

Khalistan is going to include the present-day states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu, Punjabi speaking areas of Rajasthan, UP, Uttaranchal etc

So in Khalistan there will be a state Punjab, which will have its virsa, PUNJABI VIRSA...

Ishmeet Singh: Young Celebrity Among the Sikhs

    Naureen Kaur

Born and raised in America, I am a 13-year old young girl. I love watching Voice of India and looked forward to the results. As a result I quickly found out that two Sikhs were in the competition and that made me enthusiastic.

One was Ishmeet Singh, the other was Arshpreet Kaur. I would watch every show, and when both these Sikhs made it to the top 12, I couldn’t believe it. But in the next round, Arshpreet Kaur under peer pressure cut her hair short. Frankly, I felt very disappointed at her action, and was even more scared if Ishmeet might follow her example.

I did as much research on Ishmeet and probably learned more about him than his fellow contestants. I found out that Ishmeet is an 18 year old boy from Ludhiana and suffered from stage fear in his childhood. The fear was overcome after he sang in front of a huge crowd in the “Delhi Audition of Star Voice of India.” Despite getting hate mails and rude comments he believed in himself and didn’t cut his hair. When Ishmeet made it to the finals, I was overjoyed and sent the news to all my friends. I also, a couple of times, sent an SMS for him.

Waiting for the final result was an extraordinary event for me. The incredibly famous singer Lata Mangeshkar announced the results and proclaimed the winner as: ISHMEET SINGH! I was overjoyed to see a Sikh win the 1st Voice of India contest. I decided that no matter what, I was going to meet Ishmeet Singh.

I took a trip to India and covered the whole south of India during that trip. I was able to go to film city in Mumbai and spent two days there and saw many shootings in progress and met many India movie stars and took autographs. I still had one wish to fulfill and that was to meet Ishmeet, the idol of Punjab and the first Voice of India winner. With Waheguru’s grace, my wish was fulfilled.

Two hours before my return trip back to USA, I got the chance to visit him. This talented Sikh turned out to be very humble, polite, and caring. His idea on winning rested in the ultimate sense to have faith in Waheguru wholeheartedly. He is an idol to many young Sikhs all around the world and he can inspire and motivate young Sikh men and women to succeed in life without compromising their values and traditions under any pressure whatsoever. While interviewing him, he very clearly said to me that in future he would do everything in his power to help Sikh youth with talent to step out of the shadow. His soon to be released first CD is a Shabad Keertan CD which he completed the day after I left India. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors, and hope he will continue to reach the top and stay there for a long time.

All the best Ishmeet, and go for your goals!

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh!
