hows this I don't agree with Darshan Singhs actions. I hope that makes you happy. No pun intended and no sarcasm. the matter i was trying to get across is Why are ppl using Sri akal takhat for political gains?????? Why isn't akal takhat jathedar FREE of these gundai?? Why is it when they feel the need they sack a jathedar and replace one? Not just jathedari lets look at electing a SGPC sevadars oops its president, and its picked from a sealed envelope. When are we going to understand politics, corrupt politicians are doing what wasn't possible in 84!!! no smell =)

here we go again... i am surprised to see only 2 posts. Anyways.... lets leave darshan singh aside for one sec or even nanakshahi calendar. why not think, WHO is actually running or who is using the ropes of sri akal takhat? We all know EX akal takhat jathedar Ranjit Singh was removed due to a so called panthic leader. After Ranjit Singh was removed we all know what politics were played out. I was reading Jathedar Koankes history which is not to old, he was a sant sipahi worthy of jathedari and spoke and stood for AKAL takhat. He stood up for the truth no matter how much backfire he would get. Do our Jathedars of nowadays do anything like this? not just Koanke, we have so many other jathedars to look at. Lets free our jathedars from these puppet masters!!!

First there was Choota sauda saad, we ended up forgetting him, then there was the Vienna issue we ended up doin nothing about that, now we had Nurmahileea baba with his issue in Ludhiana and already forgot about that (even a shaheed) im just wondering why we let our so called panthic leaders take our focus off of all of these issues. Now its the Ravidassia quom??? We've got the issue of Darshan Singh and Dasam Granth with the Jathedar of Akal takhat and our mighty SGPC (badal) We've got the issue of the issue of Nanakshahee calendar dividing the panth I was just wondering whats next..................... Why is'nt anyone bringing these issues forward??? they did'nt win when they demolished akal takhat........ what about when they just demolish they principal of Akal takhat. Whats next.....................

The Shaheedi Nagar Keertan was a great success. Early in the morning it seemed like it was going to pour down with heavy rain, but with guru sahibs apar kirpa the day turned out sunny. June 30, 2008 Barbara Brown The Hamilton Spectator (Jun 30, 2008) Hundreds of the faithful joined a parade along York Boulevard yesterday to commemorate Sikh Martyrdom Day. Although it threatened rain at times, the sun shone brilliantly as men, women and children followed the colourful floats on foot. They walked two hours from the temple on Old Guelph Road in Dundas to rally at Sir John A. Macdonald high school in downtown Hamilton. The procession followed religious ceremonies marking the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth of 10 Sikh masters. The guru was tortured and executed in 1606 by a Mughal emperor who feared the growing influence and popularity of Sikhism. Harjinder Singh, an engineer with General Motors Corp. in Windsor, brought his family to celebrate the day with relatives in Dundas. He said the procession is called Naga Kirtan in Punjabi, which refers to the congregation going through the town and singing hymns. The concept is to bring the message of God to the doorstep of the community. "Sikhism believes in one God and in equal rights for all human beings. Everyone should have the freedom to express his views and to live his life freely," he said. "Even if I disagree with you 100 per cent, still I have a responsibility to respect you as a human being and to protect your freedom." Teenagers Jora Singh and Dilpreet Singh said the message of Guru Arjan is as relevant today as it was for the poor and disaffected in India 400 years ago. "What it means to me is that from the beginning of my religion we have been standing up for human rights," Jora Singh said. "When Guru Arjan Dev Ji was martyred, it was so everyone could have freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. "I believe as a Sikh and a Canadian that everyone should stand up for these principles." Dilpreet Singh said his family went to the temple to remember Guru Arjan, a great poet, philosopher and organizer, ordered executed by Emperor Jahangir. Your views are very true. At the same time we have to educate our own people too. This Nagar Keertan was started for a purpose. One, to educate and and keep our shaheeds memories alive. If you ask in the Sikh community WHY did Guru Arjun Dev Patshah give his shaheedi, only a few will give you the answer. If you ask about Guru Teg Bahadur patshah, Bhai Taru Jee, Bhai Sati Daas Jee, then come through history and ask about the singhs in 78, the history is ALL there, we just got to educate and remember there shaheedi. Secondly, this nagar keertan was started due to the lack of REMEMBRANCE in general. If you look at ALL the bigger gurdwaras they have commercialized our shaheeds. When we get close to June they start preaching akhand paats and big gatherings, FOR WHAT ($$$). But as i've stated before, where is the action. No one speaks out for the injustice no one speaks up for sikh human rights. This is why a small gurdwara took the initiative. Your view on educating the western society is very true aswell.
